It's a JCB Mini CX I'm sure, handy as all get out, but like anything that nice (and well built) it's also spendy.

I've seen them advertised USED for $30k........

Frank, we only change tires when the tires are worn out.

We used to run turf tires all year long, IMHO for snow clearing turf tires give a superior grip to any other (unchained) tire out there for a CUT. In recent years changes to the government contracts we have mean we now must run R4 tires on all machines working under those contracts.

DRankin (and others) have had excellent results running pickup truck tires all year round also, unfortunately my machines are too big for that solution.

Don't forget, in most cases, the tractor will not be driving through deep snow, the snow is removed by the blower or blade, the tire is running on the newly cleared ground behind that blower or blade.

Joey didn't say if his Gator is a gas or diesel, if it's a gas engine it's got an air cooled engine in it, unlikely it would have a problem with the water pump, radiator or rad cap.

Sensor or something is more likely the culprit in that case.

Thanks for the additional info. At this point I'm leaning very heavily towards Green. The only issue is the loader. I like the 3203 but the JD website compatibility matrix has the 300 loader for the 3203 and 790. The 3120 & 3320 have either the 300x or 300cx. My biggest concern is the warranty if I put either the 300x or 300cx on the 3203 (as NorthernMainer said earlier, you can't use them to full capacity). The other option is to go with the 3120 w/300cx ($2,380 more - MSRP) or the 3320 w/300cx (2,580 more - MSRP). In addition, if I want the HST on the 3320, it's extra. I'm going to try and talk to the JD dealer to see about the warranty issue.

Please feel free to give any additional info, opinions, etc. because the CFO has given me the go-ahead as soon as we sell a rent house.

I don't know anything about this machine but usually associate a hissing sound with a hydraulic pressure relief. What sort of hydraulics are on the HPX?

yeah, they resolved the cam shaft plug several years ago, but there are still a few older tractors out there which have never been repaired,

anywho, glad it's fixed.

EW; Go back to your high school physics rules, "A liquid cannot be compressed". If there is absolutely NO AIR in the cylinder, the volumes are different on either end of the cylinder because of the volume the rod dispaces on the upper half. This cannot possibly work without somewhere for the extra fluid from the lower half of the cylinder to escape to. My helmet and body armor are on so fire away. Frank.

Ijust bought a newer than 1990 model b7100,and i am loving it,too bad summer is over,i'll have to wait untill spring to start mowing again.i mowed with it once and it never missed a beat pullind that 5 foot king kutter finish mower.i also pulled a 12" diameter peach tree stump up from behind my house.it has 955 hours on it,i changed all fluids and filters,cept for the differentials,which is on my agenda.i've been reading on here for a week and found gobbs of good info on the tractor here.this is a great web site!

Are you talking about the trip springs? If yes then that is a target but not necessarily a spec IMHO. Springs vary from spring to spring so it follows will the tension based on just a measurement.

What I would do is set it up according to whomever's opinion but relatively equally for all of them. Then simulate pushing snow in the dirt and see if you like the way it feels. The plow should be able to hold it's own and not flop forward under moderate to heavy use. The more it flops forwad the less it will plow and the harder it will be to plow. A plow needs to shear, lift and roll the material out of the way. A poor set up will have the cutting edge scrape with little to no lift and roll.

LW, I am going to assume you have the one peice dash?.

The horn relay has four prongs.

The Turn signal flasher has 3 prongs. Both your turn signals and hazards use the same flasher and is not your typical 3 prong flasher... FACTORY PART.

The wire I think your are taliking about is black... if so ??... it is a ground.

Ureka! I found the end of the pipe about twenty feet down. I was unmotivated to continue digging, so in desperation I grabbed a water hose, turned it up to about 15 GPM and shoved it in the top of the pipe- it worked, and evetually the pipe drained. Shining a flashlight down, I can see a pretty good chunk of limestone that I need to fish out, but I think a fork welded out of some rebar will do the trick- unless anybody has any good ideas... give me some good ideas, please!

I believe you've made the right decision not to attempt mowing the pond banks with your tractor.....especially when you're all alone.

It might be in your plans to work to reduce the steepness of the pond banks, at some point in the future. This is something you could do with your tractor making it possible for you to mow the area at some point down the road.

If possible, please post a few pictures of your pond area here, so that our members might be able to offer a few ideas on how to attack the project.

I hope all goes well with your wife's surgery. I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

I think I found the problem!! (For the glo-plug anyway.)
Used my favorite trouble shooting technique for intermittant problems- bang and wiggle on stuff until you get the failure. It seems the bolt holding the Glo Plug Controller (385870300) was a little loose. I could wiggle the contoller and get the glo-plug lamp to come on and off. I tightend the bolt for now, but expect to replace the controller ($44).

Joel,

The B3030 has a better seat, adjustable forward/back, tilt wheel, postion control for the 3PT (as opposed to the quarter inching valve on the B7800, hydraulic PTO engagement (no clutch), a braceless loader frame, cruise control, and a nicer hydro foot pedal. Also has the lower arms that extend on the 3PT and a easier level adjustment on the lower arm (racheting). Not sure about the cup holder...I'll let you know.

The Kubota online and printed literature list a front and rear hydraulic port, although my dealer doesn't think the rear is standard. I have an email in to Kubota corporate to see what they have to say.

Looks like Tuesday morning is the delivery...so exciting!
