Sounds you're lugging the engine way too much---by about 1000 RPM TOO slow.

Modern diesels are made--and need---to rev up.

My New Hollands state in the Owners Manuals to run them "at full throttle", which is about 2600-2800 RPM.

If you don't then expect faster wear, poor fuel economy, less power, strain on drive and power train, reduced cooling, and more emissions.

What does your OM say to run it at?

Local Kubota salesman told me he understood the engines would be out and allowing Kubota to compete in that market more freely. Probably there is a long term contract between Bobcat and Kubota but all contracts have a termination date and it could be soon. kt

Just wondered, who does Doosan (think that is correct spelling) use in their machines that size now? Could they even supply the need?

go ahead and get it greg, the parts problem caused by a change of distribution for DF tractors will be over soon.. Taskmaster is active again out of Canada. We use the same chassis for our new Agtrac line of tractors so have a decent and rapidly growing inventory of parts here in arkansas. the engine is this 425A is same Y385 as jinma and KAMA 25HP so dozens of engine parts sources in USA. DF makes the current Lenar line up also, they should have some parts as well. We also have direct access to the factory in China.

The problem seems to be the seat switch. I can stand while driving and it takes several seconds to shut off. I'll call the dealer tomorrow.

Regardless, this thing is worth every penny I paid for it. It's an amazing machine. The rake and blade are perfect for grooming a gravel driveway. Running the rear lift takes practice to avoid making humps. Also getting the right angle of attack for both implements takes trial and error.

The FEL is indispensible and a snap to take on and off. Wish I could say that for the 3-point hitch but I guess they're all a &!tch.

The mower cuts perfect and the lift system for it is really handy for getting over curbs.

Anyway, since this post if for price help, just wanted to say thanks and the $15K for the whole package was worth it.

Tractors generally get an overhaul at 5000 hours. If the overhaul isn't performed on schedule, it's possible that the block could be destroyed......and that would be a VERY EXPENSIVE repair job.

Figure putting about 100 hours on your compact tractor each year.....on average. This is a pretty good estimate.

If you purchase a used tractor with 500 hours on it, you can figure on that tractor lasting you nearly 45 years.....with proper maintenance, and no surprises.

Most people would never expect a car to last that long.....in fact even 20 years on a car is asking a lot.

General rule of thumb....... stay away from any tractor that has over 2000 (thousand) hours on the meter. Many, many used tractors can be found with less than 200 (hundred) hours on them.

james; My suggestion would be to take the subframe completely off the tractor and compare it to a new or used subframe from another hoe that is the same subframe part number. Lay them side by side, is anything different between the two? Was it the correct subframe in the first place? Give a real good look at the assembly instructions for monting the subframe to your tractor, were some spacers, shims, or something left out that would prevent the subframe from pulling over tight to the final drive housing when the bolts were tightened down leaving the housing in affect held to the tractor by only the bolts that don't go thru the subframe? Without some very serious abuse this is almost an impossible happening, once maybe, twice not in a mllion years unless something was done wrong in the weld up of the subframe, it could have been sprung somethow during shipping? There has to be a logical reason, don't give up till you have found the culprit before installing another final drive housing. Frank.

I couldn't justify the cost of a heavier duty core aerator to the wife :( so I purchased a 48" core aerator from Sears for $200 and pulled it behind my Gravely 8122. I was pleasantly surprised at the plugs it took out of my rocky soil in the spring. And I think my lawn definitely thickened up and did very well this year due to the aerator.

I'm just thinkin why spend 400 for A BH that you have to keep pulling ahead and backing it up if for about the same 400 i could come up with something that I can just drive along side the ditches /banks instead.

I had a plow on a pickup, it did fine till the really hard packed stuff, then it needed help. I used to have an 8ft. blower on a 100 HP tractor when we were on the farm, that was a great machine, but with a shorter, (100 ft.) driveway now I sold it and use the 4310 and loader. With a pickup plow you need a good pickup that will start on a cold snowy morning and a plow for it can be a 3-4500 dollar deal unless you find a used one. So if you really don't need a pickup for other things this is a pricey way to go. A 500 ft. driverway with a little 3-4 ft. blower on a 25 HP. tractor with no cab working in the dark will get old fast. If you are buying a tractor and loader anyway use the loader for cleanup after work and have a guy with a pickup plow do the early morning get you to work plowing. When I had the pickup plow I had several folks who had me "Get them to Work" plow at 5 or 6 in the morning and they would trim up after work with their loader or a shovel in the daylight. I usually have the quarry deliver a load of crushed limestone about this time of year and use it to scatter on the ice, that seems to break it up after driving over it a few times, plus it keeps the salt out of the lawn. Glad to hear you got it going, and you're very welcome.

An air bomb is nothing more than a portable air tank.

When an air compressor isn't available, the portable tank can be used to fill tires in a remote area.

I might have used a term common to my neck of the woods, leaving you completely in the dark. I apologize.

I'm happy to know that a shop vac will work. Thanks for that bit of information.

And just to add something to this conversation...........

Winter is coming. It's not a good idea to allow your fuel tank to get too low during the winter. Keep your fuel tank as full as possible at all times during the winter months.

Due to the expansion and contraction of the air inside the fuel tank, it will draw air when it cools off at night.......and along with that air comes the moisture, or humidity, in the air. When this moisture condensates, it will cause water to pool up in your fuel tank, and eventually there will enough water to cause your fuel lines to freeze up.

To prevent this problem, it is necessary to prevent any air from entering the tank during the cooling hours each evening. By keeping the tank full of fuel, very little air can be drawn in......hence, no water in the fuel tank, and no frozen fuel lines.

The side benefit, of course, is that you'll never have to worry about running out of fuel again, either.

Joel: Sorry about the late response. I was gone over the weekend. Yes, like they say, it's a small world. '97 was the only year that I ever bought flood insurance. The snowfall was rediculous! We evacuated our house two months to the day from that purchase. We came home to 5' of water in our basement and felt LUCKY, considering what a lot of people came home to. We live two and a half miles from the river. Still the water came as far as our front basement windows; but not a drop in the garage or the back yard! How lucky can you get? :(

That tractor would handle a 7-7.5 foot backhoe and the best would be frame mounted with tie's to the loader sub frame. There are a few makes of tractors with certain combinations of hoe's and loaders that are more prone to break then others.<br>

I couldnt agree with you more about them actually being about 1950's technology! And it sounds like you have made more money on them, then everyone else I have talked to put togeather; so keep up the good work! As far as the extensive dealer network to back up any problems a potental owner may have, well I can only say, that up in this neck of the woods the few dealers that have them at this point; seem to be new at tractors, and have very little in the parts dept????? Anyway I am glad you are having good luck with them, and wish you the best in your Chinese Endevors............... I think I am going to stick with an American company, that is 160 years old,and has a million dollars worth of parts in inventory, that was selling and fixing them for my Grandfather 75 years ago at the same dealership!!! Good Luck to you. ;-(
