Kenny it sounds like you have finally conceded (Kenny that means accepted, or agreed :) ) that northerners are...well...you know---smarter? And BTW that isn't necessarily due to living in da north, eh. We'd prefer to think of it as just having a good gene pool. (Though I have been told there must have been too much clorine in my family's gene pool---whatever THAT means LOL)

When I was a kid I went with my neighbor fruit farmers to the New York City Bronx market and watched them sell fruit by the box off their trucks. It was great watching the store keepers and the farmers negotiating every deal. Lots of fun and lots of give and take. <br>

One store keeper came every week - tasted the cherries, spit them out like he hated them. Then the farmer gets pissed since this guys buys every week, reaches in the store keepers pocket, grabs his wallet, counts out money for himself and puts the boxes in the storekeepers wagon.<br>

A few years later all the farmers bought diesel trucks and had pre-arranged deals with all the grocery stores. Just load the truck - bring to the supermarkets distribution center - and unload the truck. Maybe easier for the farmer but not as much fun for me to watch.

I am not an expert on this but when I joined my 100' rolls I just twisted the wire together. I pounded my end posts in 2' so that was good enough to keep the fence tight for me. If I wanted it tighter I would either concrete in the end posts or put a 45 degree anchor wire beyond each end post with a tent stake.

Ken, I have been using that moss killer also. Every year my roof looks a little bit better. I use my spot sprayer from the edge of the roof on my ladder to coat the roof. But you've got many jobs to do at once - so I can see why you would want a boom lift.

NoSteiner, the farmer has little to do with the price of milk other than collecting the SMALL portion of the price you pay to take it home.

The farmer is lucky to see a quarter of what you pay at the store.

I had this very thing happen to me about 4 months ago. After I had spent the day bush hogging, on the last pass after 9 hours of operation I stopped to admire my work. As soon as I took my foot off the forward pedal, the malfunction light flashed. It was already dark and I caught the flash out of the corner of my eye. The tractor would not go forwards or backwards. The tractor would start as I tried to shut it down and restart in hopes it would work but nothing worked. I noticed the forward pedal not the same height as the reverse pedal which prompted me to get off the tractor and look at the pedal linkage to the potentiometers. Come to find out a stick wedged itself in the linkage. The tractor worked fine until I took my foot off the forward pedal but when I stopped, the stick had both pedals slight depressed in the linkage which to the computer is the same thing as pressing both pedals at the same time. Once I removed the stick, the tractor worked fine and I had a HUGE sigh of relieve.

How difficult would it be to drive or haul your tractor with the mower on it to your nearest tractor dealership or tractor supply company. That would make it much simple to be sure you have the proper shaft and length (very important, too short and it comes apart while running dangerous, too long and something gets jammed and probably damaged). If that is not an option, then stop by one and ask how to measure for shaft length.

If you do the measuring, attach the pto shaft to either the tractor or mower and with the test the fit with the mower fully lowered and fully raised and a couple of stops about half way between. The shaft should have the ability to push togehter some at each stop but also should not be about to pull apart. You should be able to feel that movement. kt

Hi, I'm new here, just found this forum while quickly trying to dig up info on a tractor I just saw for sale nearby. Please let me know how this price sounds - $1800 for the following in Central Ohio:<br>
- Model: B6200 E (2WD, Manual trans)<br>
- Year: 1983.<br>
- w/ 60" belly mower.<br>
- Has ROPS<br>
- Runs good according to owner, only known issue is the fuel gage doesn't work.<br>
- Seller is 2nd owner (his neighbor is 1st owner), only used for mowing their lawns.<br>
- Meter says 341hrs but of course who knows.<br>

180 proof grain alcohol(I think the brand is Everclear). Get a bottle of cherrys pour out the juice and fill it with the everclear.

My 870 requires lo-vis Deere fluid. I used the regular Deere fluid once and had problems with slow hydraulics and gear shifting problems. Might want to check to see if the 970 requires lo-vis fluid.

There is a 955 on eBay right now that includes the snowblower.
Someone sent a question to the seller requesting to buy it without the blower (he's in Texas) and the seller replied that he would split it up. You may have a shot at it.

Joel, I'll agree with that. I'd even add that anyone that has a backup generator without a transfer switch should have a plan ahead of time and know what they'll be running. The bare necessities like a couple of lights, refrigerator, well pump and such. It doesn't take long for those watts to add up and bog the generator down. Of course it's dependent on the size of generator.

Not the specific year, but they were only produced in 1983 and 1984. That should be close enough.

There is a miriad of sizes and shapes. For example I have an electric 12v auger that has a round 3/4" drive on a 9" light duty auger. But I also have a 9" with a 2-5/16" hex drive (extreme duty). There is also one size bigger drive and one smaller than mine too that is common. Then there is 2" square and 2" round, and 1-1/2" round---just to name a few. At one time the auger head mfg. wanted to keep you buying their augers so they made them to fit only their stuff. So you need to measure the head and the auger and see what's out there. Some auger mfg's offer topless augers and "field-weldable" top ends to suit your application.
