You didn't go into any details regarding your long-term plans with the property.

At age 47, you may not have yet started thinking about your retirement, but it might not be a bad idea to start thinking about what you plan to do with your time a few years down the road.

Those hills in the back area could be cut down, making it much easier to mow in the future. (landscaping work....moving soil....etc.) I would consider knocking those hills down.

If you choose to continue mowing over and around those hills, you might be better off using smaller equipment.

A loader isn't entirely necessary, but adding the loader makes your tractor so much more versatile. As far as I'm concerned, a loader is the FIRST tractor implement I would purchase.

You're not crazy to consider a much larger tractor than the BX models. Once you have yourself a real tractor, you'll be surprised at how much more of your land you could utilize. You'll also have the machine you'll need to improve the property to fit your long-term goals.

Earthworks has a great suggestion about getting a semi-trailer transport body dropped in (it's a box minus the wheels, frame, etc.). You may want to place it on high ground and rest it over a row or more of block to keep it away from moisture and prevent critters from going beneath.<br>

I don't think the frost line is that much deeper up there. The snow helps to insulate the ground.

I agree, the newer engines are a far cry from the iron of old. The big difference is weight, when you spin it you get momentum, and in the big old engines, you get LOTS of it.

Unfortunately the clutches are also smaller, because of weight and reduced loads, and this is a double whammy, since the engine doesn't have the grunt to hold RPM's, and the clutch is smaller, overloading will almost certainly mean the clutch gets sacrificed.

I've seen LOTS of machines, both shiney new stuff and well-seasoned old iron get chewed up in mere hours that way. This spring a recent arrival from the city moved into my area, first big purchase was a new CUT, first thing Saturday he was driving around on it, Monday morning the dealer was picking it up for a new clutch. He and a PHD did the clutch in on Saturday afternoon trying to put in post holes. He figured he could 'muscle through' a band of wet clay.

The comments from the OP such as "The steering doesn't work half the time and the Hydraulics seem to overheat constantly." seem to say that there is an overload on the hyd. system, such as a out of adjustment valve like the 3pth trying to lift the rockshafts higher than the linkage allows, and the pressure relief valve is stuck open and boiling up the fluid.

Also, "I have had this tractor for two years I am on my third clutch at 360 hours." is a telling comment, we rarely have to replace a clutch, our tractors work very hard and usually run to between 3 & 4 thousand hours before they get rotated out of the fleet.

Thirteen acres, sixty inch deck, three acres an hour, are you retired? To use a sixty inch offset trailer would drop the time quiite a bit.

Diesels like to run for longer periods of time so for that part you are ahead but if your young and traveling or just busy I think you will get board with mowing.

There are times we feel blessed with good help and there are times we like every one here make mistakes. We do tell the help to be sure that it is warrantee before you tell the customer. That way we don't raise customers expectations before we know for sure that it meets the requirements.

I'm not a JD guy but I think I read somehwere something about an electronic switch or potentiometer that reads where the pedal is. I've heard they can go bad or get wet and short out .

The western States have many thousands of unoccupied acres waiting to be inhabited. There are even small towns which offer cash bonuses to those who decide to occupy an abandoned farm, simply because their schools are crying for students (along with the federal money that comes with those students).

Schools are closing in North Dakota at record rates. With increasing farm sizes, there are now fewer farmers here than ever before. This has nearly destroyed the rural school districts. Along with the empty schools, we also have empty and abandoned stores.

Consider moving to a rural area in one of the western States. You'd be surprised at the low housing prices, land prices, and job opportunities. Wages may seem low, but when you figure in the low tax rates, housing costs, etc.......most people actually come out further ahead.

I e mailed them once and it was a big sob story about him selling it cause it was his brother's in England that died in a car accident and he's in Texas. The price was cheap because in England there is no demand for them. Mai himm two days laer and a whole different story. Now it's in Georgia???? At 2600 dollars for a 7510. Had to be a scam. At those prices I'd have several tractors.

I just bought a B7800 w/ shredder, disc harrow, and loader. I opted for the 5 year, 6.49% interest. There is no pre-payment penalty on the loan through Kubota finance program. Also, they did not require any money down. That's the perk I liked.

I am looking at a 620 AC with a sickle bar mower. This tractor looks to be in good shape with little sign of use and the price seems good but, this is the first 620 I have ever seen so I was hoping to get some advice. Are there any problems common to this tractor, weak spots, things I should check before buying? Can you still get parts and accessories, implements ? Is the PTO supposed to be female or is there something missing? Anything you can tell me will be appreciated.<br>

My Dad has a 917 AC that he bought used some 20 years ago that has (still is ) been a great machine and I'm hoping to try another 20+ year used AC.

Thanks, Hardwood. That is what I am debating inside these days. If it is said 2-year-bumper2bumper, then everytime I have to use trailer to send, that is equal no warranty to me. <br>
Local dealer suppose to be much easier, but totally depense.<br>
To my case, for MF 1540 with 12 tranny powershulter is the the one I liked the most. Dealer is in less one mile only. Local friends recommand. Only issue is the price $1800 higher than South states. PA price is much better, but I can not see much different about dealer locate 70miles or 1000miles away. Do I really care about that $1800 if I want use it to run a biz? I think not. Could be more concerning about unfair than cash value itself.
