New to the site, so howdy. Having minor problems with one of my knotters. Ties, but every now and then knot won't hold. Twine does not break, knot comes undone. What reckon do I need to look for??

Some Bearcat chippers have discharge chutes that look like they were designed to jam. When the discharge path has to make several 90 degree turns jams are inevitable. Other models had a clean discharge path that would not have this problem.

From the sounds of it, it might have been a left over. From time to time we all get them in one machine size or another. I've often figured that if we could get the orders down right to have no left overs at the end of the season I might head to a casino!
We from time to time find a machine that does need some extra attention do to shipping or crating errors and they do get set to the side for lack of time. Unfortunately thats the one you saw!

A boom sprayer is much preferred when the chemicals being applied might harm, or kill, any plants that aren't being targeted.

For example, I use a boom sprayer only when the air is dead calm, and I want to kill weeds next to my garden area. If there is any threat of herbicides drifting into the garden, I make sure the breeze is blowing away from the garden.

The nozzles on the boom sprayer direct the chemicals directly where they needed, with little threat of harming other nearby vegetation.......so long as there is no wind present when spraying.

If there is no threat of harming any other vegetation, a boom sprayer isn't needed.....as would be the case when spraying for broad-leaf weeds on a baseball field, or in a pasture.

I looked at the RTV900 today and at least here in Miami- no one seems to know how to order these units. I also looked at the 1100 as well.

What kwschumm said is dead on. For me it is all about who has the best costomer service and who is closest. I have two different types of machines and they both break when you do stupid stuff. The Bobcat dealer is about a half hour closer than the JD dealership. The Bobcat dealership also sells Kabota and Montanas. There is also a Lowes, Home Depot and Tractor Supply very near the Bobcat dealer. So, what I'm getting at: that one little part for one of my JD's can cost me an extra hour out of my day (there and back) when it would have been two minutes after I stopped in at Tractor Supply if I owned Kabotas or Montanas.

Sorry, can't agree with that suggestion. "Running with the hood open" disrupts airflow through the radiator even more. Plus, 130F is too cold for this type of diesel to run. They're designed to operate most efficiently at 80C (~176F). I recommend the OP disregard that recommendation<br>

Something to think about here. Anytime you buy something, the price of insurance is included into that price. Whether it's a can of beans, pair of roller skates, guns or a bulldozer. Every time someone wins a goofy (I say goofy instead of frivolous is because it is) lawsuit, every one pays. There are times that it is down right negligent and that's when it should be pressed...stopped...never to happen again. More time than not, it's plain greed. Whose to blame but lawyers. Not all but you know the ones. They even run ads encouraging lawsuits.

In the end the only real winners are the lawyer and the poor pathetic goofy ass woman that spilled hot coffee on herself because she was too dumb to know any better.

Kenneth, the same thing is required up here.

That's not to say the vapour barrier isn't compromised, or that the concrete can't absorb moisture from snow or rain or the earth that butts up against the exposed perimiter of the slab.

Or for that matter, the moisture that the concrete itself is merely trapping like a big sponge from more humid times such as a humid summer, or rainy fall.

I wired in the relay last night. It works great, thanks for the wiring diagram!

BTW - The relay is BOSCH Part # 0332209150, and you can buy it a bit cheaper from most autostores (or online) as compared to buying it through MTD.

I have a BX24. I was loading some cut wood (Silver maple) and had a rather large piece. Best guess is about a cubic yard. 3 ft high and over 3 ft diameter (stump end). I was leery of trying to lift it but with the RPM above 3000, the loader did lift it to move it over so he could grind the stump but still with some fear of damage in my heart. The wood had to exceed the 500 to 600 pound capacity Kubota gives for the front loader. Is it all limited by the hydraulic system (assuming I can lift it with little tractor movement(just want to put it on a cart) is is safe for the tractor? The tree feller did not want to make another cut in it due to hitting an internal rock. I understand the bounce factor in a lift and this would not cause a lot of bounce to just lift it and move it a foot or two to the bed of the cart.

The 9N you're looking at is priced too high for my liking. (I know it's been restored.......but....) You should be able to find a perfectly good 9N for less than $2,000.

Several years ago, I purchased a 9N with the mower, loader, plow, cultivator, harrow, and cement mixer, for only $1000. I doubled my money less than a year later.

There are thousands of 8N and 9N tractors available at prices much lower than the one you're looking at. If you are planning to spend that much money on the 9N, I believe you'd be far better off finding yourself a used modern tractor, for about the same amount of money.

The 9N is a good tractor. It is one of the best of its type ever made. Nearly every farmer has owned one at one time or another. They are dependable machines, but they are very basic tractors with absolutely no modern safety features, and they can be hazardous to operate.

A fully restored 9N might be worth 6300 to a collector, but nobody else.

Our beloved Aria leaves us an ample supply of lovely "trail apples" in the pasture next to our house and yard. After the piles have sat out in the sun for a week or so and dried up, they can be easily and evenly spread out by dragging an old bed box spring or chain drag manure spreader around the pasture. I am sure you could do something similar but on a smaller scale for your "trail apple" project. Horse manure is not a very good fertilizer in so far as nitrogen content as compared to bag fertilizer. It's biggest benefit is that it adds nutrients as well as biomass of the soil and in so doing helps to create an excellent, less compactible soil bed which is very beneficial to the grass the following spring. The grass build up under the lawn mower deck is very similar only it has not been processed in the horses gut. If the flys become an issue; I would suggest spreading some Fly Preditors around your yard and areas near where the horses poop. Fly Preditors are a little spendy but they work really well when applied properly. You can do as Murf suggested and compost it down if you have the yard space and time which is probably the best method.
