No need to go out and buy a new air compressor. Just about any dentist in your area will have a used air compressor sitting in the basement, crawl space, or their home garage. You can pick one up from almost any dentist for almost nothing. Every dental office uses compressed air for their dental drills.

These little dental compressors aren't suitable for use with heavy duty air tools, (not enough cubic feet per minute, and not enough air pressure) but they work just fine for inflating tires and blowing out your radiator, air filters, etc.

If you replaced the thermostat on your Bronco, then you can easily replace one on your tractor. It's not a difficult job. The hardest part about this is to make sure your cooling system is full and circulating. It can sometimes be a chore to get rid of all the air trapped in the system.

I can't help you with a part number for a U.S. compatible thermostat, but if you take it to your local auto parts dealer, they can usually measure the diameter and find you a suitable replacement. The most important thing is to find one with the same temperature rating. You shouldn't have a difficult time finding one. A replacement thermostat gasket might be a bigger problem for you. Save your old one. Take good care not to damage it when you remove it. It is possible to make a new gasket from scratch, provided you have a pattern to go by, and a good, sharp, utility knife. Bulk gasket material is also available at your local auto parts dealer.

Avoid using silicone or RTV sealants, as these can end up in your cooling system, plugging your radiator, or your thermostat.

dlatham: Not 'zactly sure what the rules are on contacting for sale, but I'm pretty sure I can't sell to you thru this forum.

The unit has 172 hrs on it currently. Serviced at 50 and 150 hrs. Not sure what else you want to know.

Skid steer tractors, by their very nature, are hard on motor mounts. Many people routinely lift the front tires off the ground when using the loader bucket for scraping driveways and parking lots, such as when pushing snow.

When the front wheels come back down.....often quite hard....it delivers a shock to the engine mounts.

Getting this repaired is quite critical. If you allow the engine to vibrate for too long, you'll soon have cracked or broken hydraulic lines, fuel lines, etc.

The "D" is for my middle name David and Rankin was the surname of my other grandfather. The ability to write well is a genetic trait from that side of the family. DRankin is an acknowledgment of those facts.

Joel, not to start any arguements here, but a couple of your statements seem a little less than 'right'... ;)

"The automatic transmission was never meant to be a heavy puller......." Do you know that a VERY large number of semi-trucks built today are equipped with an AUTOMATIC transmission? They are capable of as much load as any gear unit. Same goes for most off-road construction equipment, loaders, off-road dumps, especially mine pit trucks, including the worlds biggest trucks, the minig haulers, all equipped with a hydro. drive unit.

"I can honestly say that I have never tried to plow a field or do any summer fallow work with a hydro tractor. Those tractors aren't made for pulling all day long.", some of the first commercially available hydro farm tractors were the very popular Red ones, many of them are still in daily use as primary tillage machines. We had one at our farm for many years and it pulled as good (or better in certain conditions) than a gear tractor would.

In short I think it has more to do with personal preferance than suitability.

We use the 4WD Kubota M series tractors for all of our Deer Management Work. Couldn't ask for a better all around tractor. Very Strong, Dependable, confortable working unit !!!We keep the John Deere tractors in the fields for the working crops.
As some has said before, and I am true believer in having a quality dealer. They are what makes it really happen. I thank GOD for the dealers I have in area. For, I have heard some horror stories with others. Always make arrangements for if you tractor has to be serviced, they will let you use one to help you out (If Needed ) until yours get out. All deals need to be made BEFORE the check in written !!!!

Dogbr; I'm not familliar with haw the Boomer shuttle control works, but likely pretty similar to my 4310 Deere W/12-12 Power Reverser, it has a slow/fast reaction time switch on the fender. Mine in the slow mode is also a bit too quick for my pleasure so I just kind of feather it with the clutch and don't even realize I'm doing it. I've got a tech manual for the 4310, but never took time to see if there is a fine tune adjustment for it or not. Likely someone more Boomer oriented than I can fill you in. Frank.

Just hit my 300 hours on my LK3054.<br>
Excellent tractor never a problem.<br>
Did switch to rotella 15-40 since the temps have been 75 and higher. Seems to run smoother.<br>

Did see a few posts here about not using 'box store' oils. Must be a dealer. Have never had a problem using TSC oil or trans products. Everything super clean with the 300 hour service.<br>

Anyone know where to get a good deal on a backhoe?<br>
Have been digging a pond with my bucket but seems a little slow. Backhoe may be faster digging through the shale.<br>

I'd start with simple stuff first. Is the 3-point linkage solid and operating properly? Is the hydraulic fluid level correct? Any other hydraulic issues?

hey chief, what do you know about Mahindra tractors? we have been looking at Kubota, thought we made up our minds, then were introduced to Mahindra. we have 400 wooded acres in the ozarks. we'll be clearing, maintaining a road, digging a basement, hauling rock to build a house.......lots of work. would love any input.

My #48 backhoe could very well be functioing in 50 years. I just hauled my 1948 Cub Farmall home today after a complete engine/transmission/brakes/steering, etc. overhaul, the paint shop is it's next stop. It's 49 years old now and should go another 49. Frank.

Proxibid is one of my favorite internet hangouts. I spend a lot of time there looking for bargains. In fact, I rarely purchase anything new anymore. Why? Some of this stuff offered at auction is brand new, without the high price tag.

No.....I don't live anywhere near the place. I'm a resident of North Dakota, and I live about 30 miles from the Canadian line. However, there is nothing that can't be shipped to me, so long as I'm willing to pay the freight. On some items, the price of the freight would greatly offset the bargain. I'm selective in what I purchase for this reason.

Sorry for the bad info on the oil filter and for hijacking the thread!

The filter I have on my E14D is an STP 02827 but I cannot find one anywhere. I was told the E14D is the same as a Massey Ferguson 1010. Fram's web site shows this tractor takes a PH2951. I bought an equivalent in a cheap brand and it fits. The rubber seal has a bigger diameter and overhangs the oil filter mount but it should seal just fine.

Well, Rural King sells the EPA approved FT254 (Foton 25hp/4wd) with an American made loader (Spirit from Wisconsin) for $9600. You'd have to contact RK to see whether it's shuttle equipped. Then consider whether or not the trailer and various implements offered with that AgKing package are worth the extra $3900. My guess would be no.<br>

Just might want to look into spraying the inside of the operators compartment. Under the rubber mat and going up to the firewall. Seen several of these done in my area, was a real big PLUS for the protection of the RTV. I myself, plan on having this done in the close future. The Rhino Brand sprayliner installer is about 110 miles from me, so I am trying to set up a date so I may take off and make that trip with our RTV unit. May I also make a note, that Rhino liner as far as we are concerned, is the strongest. Seen others, nothing last as long and compares to the strength on the Rhino. We've tried others, and will never make that mistake again. The RTV is a great investment, and a SUPER machine. I, like you,want to take the very best care of it as we can. <br>
Also, need to install a V4271 High Mount Cleaner ROPS Kit on your RTV. I also have a Worksite Model. And this will help you more ways than one. The air box behind the cab will suck up more dust / dirt that you will ever imagine, the factory installed box behind the cab, is set down where the cab forms a vacuum around the air box, which brings all matter into it. Install a high mount, and your troubles will be over. I have only 35 hrs on mine. I myself just installed a Ramsy Winch, Kubota Glass Windshield,implement lights on front and back, and a Remote Control GoLight in the front (Middle). Waiting to get the Rhinoliner installed .......<br>
