It seems for the money the BX24 is the hands down winner based on cost. I am not in need of a backhoe but I cannot justify the cost of the backhoe (should I need one) for the Deere.

Coming off a Grand L4630 I am horsepower weary but possibly the BX24 is the way to go especially when I consider what I get for the money...

It turns out there are several oils which meet the minimum specification, but that they are NOT the SAME as UDT.<br>

It turns out that UDT has a proprietary blend of additives which in many cases makes a world of difference. One of those additives seems to be the level of anti-foaming deterents in the oil.<br>

Mark, up here your statement would not be quite correct, a large early snowfall that stays will act as an insulating blanket and prevent the frost from setting in, especially in well-drained sandy soils. We often encounter sites where there is little or no frost at all, even in mid-February. If you use a B/H with a thumb as a loader, of logs as an example, you would be working when the ground is frozen to minimize collateral damage to the site. Or if you are using the B/H for things like clearing an ice dam or breaking up a beaver dam.<br>

For rear weight on that model tractor the bulk of the time to put three sets of rear wheel weights on and a tool on the back makes them aggressive enough on our hills. The loader is more then enough front ballast when needed. One or two rear remotes for most is more then enough for most work and would allow you to hook up a top n tilt if you needed it for grading. We use the ATI quick attach on the loader for the 463.

I have a Satoh Beaver III, S-373D (made by Mitsubishi). This is a 4 wheel drive model. <br>

My question is about how the front axles are lubricated.<br>

There are 3 plugs on the front end which appear to be for adding fluid: one on top of the left axle housing, one on the righ.t and a third on the front differential housing. <br>

What fluid should I use, and how can I tell if enough fluid is present?<br>

Can anyone recommend a good manual for routine maintenance? I have a very detailed REPAIR manual, but it's not so good for maintenance.<br>

Due to the poor availability and high cost of Mitsubishi replacement mufflers, I have been considering having a generic muffler welded to the mounting plate of my present muffler. However, since I know nothing about muffler requirements for diesel engines, I wonder if it is necessary for the muffler to provide a certain amount of back pressure for the engine to run properly.<br>

Has anyone tried substituting 3rd party mufflers on a diesel engine, and how did it work out?<br>

OK then. I guess I was thinking it was like the 750/950 models.

Still I am sure it is a brake dragging, especially if it does not do it in reverse.

My 4115 has cables to actuate the parking brake, if the 955 is similar, maybe there is a cable hung up somewhere.

Frank, using the stabilizers is quick and easy. You may be right and my dealer may be screwed up but it's easy enough that I dropped it. But on your comment about taking the bolt on the seat out - my dealer moved the bolt to a different position or location so the seat can pivot differently. So I don't have to take the seat off anymore when I drop or add the backhoe. I can unhook or hook the hoses with the seat on. I'm not sure exactly what he did, I never really analyzed it - but it worked. Maybe Harvey can shed some light on this.

Excess inventory requires a lot of space, shelving, labor, etc. It also requires a tremendous amount of monetary investment. Businesses are trying hard to reduce all of these costs, and more, in an effort to compete with the cheap products produced in the developing countries of the world......such as China, India, and even Pakistan.

In an effort to reduce expenses across the board, dealers and manufacturers carry far less stock than they once did. Instead, the needed parts are made as they are needed. When you order a part today, your order is sent immediately to the manufacturer.

When you finally do get your part, you can bet that it has barely had time to cool off after being machined on the mill.

If you need a part right away, you may have to increase your own inventory. They call it "PROGRESS".......but it ain't all good.

The wheel base isn't quite long enough to get a 72" wide deck in between the front and rear axles. The old B-2150 which was about the same horsepower could take the 72" deck but that tractor used the basic 3030 chassis.

No i have not changed the filters I was going to at 50 hours and dealer said it was good for 400 hours and i did not. It sems to be OK today maybe it was wet from the bath inside the cab and had not dryed out. I opended the doors and let some air inside today. I think i will go ahead and change the filter od fluid anyway.
