B173 = 173" belt, you can buy one at any autoparts store, picked mine up at Napa, about 1/3 the cost of the dealer price. Just give them the B173 and they can get the belt for you if they don't have it in stock which they didn't when I got mine.

I have an area roughly 120 by 80 that i want to convert to garden space. Problem is it has a slight'' gulley'' running thru the middle of it. Bottom of gulley is about 2-3 feet by about30-40 wide What i'd like to do is lower the far end by filling in the "gulley area" plus raise the near end to 'level' out the area a bit. I've thought of tilling up the area and pushing off the top soil and then till and move the lower clay sand around to level and then put the top dirt back(along with some amendemnts i.e. manure etc.). Should I attempt this with my TC 33 w/FEL or just have a bulldozer come in for a "day" and be done with it? Appreciate any insights and advice.

Advice -Use my tractor or have bulldozer do it

I had a similar problem not too long ago while bush hogging some heavy over grown fields with a lot of dried stalks and weeds. Turns out a stalk got jammed up under the forward pedal and all was well until I tried to reverse. Then the malfunction code started flashing and the tractor would not go forwards or backwards. Deere has a safety feature built into the pedal system that will only allow one pedal to be actuated at a time. If you press both or one is already actuated when you press the other, the system shuts down. After I took a look up under the floor boards, found the stalk jammed under the forward pedal and removed it; all was well. You may also want to check for any wires that may have been torn loose under the tractor. This is a frequent problem if you are in heavy brush and do not have the rental upgrade kit installed.

Okay guys, here's the deal: I lived in Colorado for most of my life, and spent a bunch of time on top, and undernieth an 70's era, 20 HP tractor, mostly doing haying. About a year ago I moved to a new job in Texas and which came with a whole bunch of new equipment, one of which is a 27 HP JD. The 27 HP tractor has hydrostatic trans- which I had never used before- and after spending a little time on it, I started thinking it would do great in snow. Tight turning radius, 4X4, locking diff, However, no cab. But right about now the no cab thing isnt bothering me. So I am doing my time in Texas and have decided when I make back over Raton Pass, I will be towing my own tractor behind me. I'm looking at spending around $15000 for a 25 HP, hydro, 4X4, FEL, with commercial tires. (I realize I will need to spend a little more than that to get a plow on it.) 13 GPM hydraulic pump (for a wood splitter I plan on making) would also be nice, but it's not a must. I don't think JD is the manufactuer for me. (I have alot of there stuff, little problems with everything.) I'm considering Kabota, Kioti, and Yanmar.

Just talked to my Kubota dealer - he checked and says they would have to order at least 6 in order for me to get one of the seats. So I called another 50-mile away dealer and he says they have some on order and will call me back if I can get one.
Hope I'm not screwed again by both lack of notification by Kubota and their 6 item per dealer minimum order.
OH WELL, it was nice to know somebody could get them!

Went to an 80th birthday party.
The 3rd one in 3 weeks.
Got about a mile from the party and my Dodge D50 started making a funny noise.
Looked down and the temperature gauge was reading way up on hot almost to the red zone.
Pulled over and checked under the hood.
No broken fan belts or busted water hoses.
No water leaks.
Figured the Thermostat must have stuck shut.
Wife called the party hostess on our cell phone and someone from the party came and took us on to the party.
Hung around at the party for a couple of hours Then the people who came and picked us up took us to AutoZone where I got a new thermostat and a gasket for it.
We went back to the truck and installed it and filled the radiator back up.
Fired the truck up and drove it home without incident.
Works a lot better without a stuck thermostat.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I've been very busy trying to get some yard work done between the never-ending rain storms we've had this year.

Thank you for your input. I appreciate the information you provided.

My first customer was kind enough to call the local utility company and have all of her underground wiring marked out for me. I don't know many people who would do this for a guy.

You're right about the trip into town. It took longer to get there, than it did to do the tilling job. Of course, having coffee with the elderly widow took more time than anything else. hehehe.

I'll keep your warnings and suggestions in mind for any future jobs I might do.

At the time of purchase,my dealer(salesman) suggested I have a checkup before the two year warranty expires on my B7800. (4690BH. 402 loader).I could combine this with the 50 hour service(low hours),even though the engine oil was changed by me last fall. What do others do? I have all the filters and certainly could do it myself.Would have to be a service call,don't have a trailer. No problems really,just a peace of mind thing I quess.

All good ideas here. Harvey is right, some geese will keep them well back too.

It's funny, Deputy Dog & I have a pretty regular gig going around here, whenever there's a big golf tournament they bring us in to keep the course clear of geese, we were away 3 days last week doing just that. He loves the job, or maybe it's just riding around in the golf cart, but he does a great job and everybody loves him. He also makes a few bucks bringing me a good bucket of pricey golf balls to boot!!!

The funny part is now that we're clearing geese, the courses all have more weeds, so now they need to hire us to clear them too.

God I love capitalism, LOL.

I don't see the height as an issue, especially if the trailer has fairly heavy suspension, 7,000+ pounds. A tractor is, relatively speaking, pretty narrow, generally less than 5' wide, and even then most of the weight, engine, trans, etc., is on the centerline.

I do agree with DRankins concern though, I beleive an F150 will be out of it's towing limits with that rig. It wouldn't take much of a heavy duty trailer to be 2,000 pounds, the tractor is another 2,500 pounds, the FEL another 500 pounds. We're at 5,000 pounds and we haven't even added any implements yet.

Without brakes working 100% on both truck & trailer, I wouldn't even take it down the driveway.

I'd have to say I've not seen auto trans fluid used for a hydro before but someone probably has. I wouldn't use anything but Super UDT in them even with past belief that the Case IH Hytran was the best in the past but I've seen where it hasn't worked as good as the UDT when changing out.

Just to throw in on the whole issue of using none kubota filters

Because Im 5hrs from the nearest dealer I have been hopping to buy aftermarket filters for my B1550 and so I managed to get the fram eqivelent it was interesting when I removed the filter which was a fram I noticed that the filter had collapsed. I was also told by the parts guy at the nearest kubota dealer that they use to sell WIX filters at about half the price of the Kubota ones. I would strongly recomend that you stay away form FRAM filters

Well I did it! Separated the tractor and pulled the HST out. The shifting fork was completely broke off laying in the bottom of the transmission case and there were 2 gears chewed beyond repair. Parts coming this week hope to have running by weekend. Thanks for all the input!

And when you do it yourself, you learn a whole lot about your machine and discover things not mentiond in your owners manual. Tackle one job at a time, so that you don't forget to replace fluids and drain plugs. The first fluid change will have really tight filters, nuts and seals to loosen, I'm not sure what they do at the factory but everything seems to exceed normal torque settings.
