Hey Greg, we take both makes in trade on a regular basis and we do see people swapping both ways but it's normally from wrong applications of sizes that causes the change. I like the pro models of both over the home owners. Lot's more torque and horsepower from both.

We haven't done that yet, and at that I would say that there might be some reasons not to. To look at the loader chassis the 513 frame is the lighter of the two loaders. That would be my choice to try it with as with the 3400 being a lighter weight to begin with over the Grand L the 723 might be to much for it. The 513 would not be an advantage over the 463 if you look at the specs so I don't know that I'd want to even go there unless you have another reason.

Like I mentioned I tried using the brush hog, which worked until the distance from shore doubled. However, it' amazing how much power it takes when the blades are under water. And the floating mess of debris isn't good either.

Yep, I agree! Last week I hauled my wifes town an country van. I have a ext. cab 1500 chevy 4wd. I have a 1K trailer with brakes on all 4 wheels. I would nver consider (safely) hauling something even as light as that, with out brakes. (in the right condition and traffic load I would though)
I haul my TC40 loader and brush hog with thew same truck.
Both of those (the van and the tractor) pull very very nice, infact I commented on how little I could tell I have the van behind me.
On the other hand, I hauled some electric pole a few years ago. They hung out and over the back of the trailer about 6 feet. I beleieve I had 2-3 too many on there too. At 55, it pulled decent but anything faster was very risky. I could of lost it faster than you could shake a toy poodle off your leg! Positioning the load plays a large role in what and how you haul anything.

Problem solved. It was the gear position switch. It didn't appear to be disconnected a first sight, but physically touching the connection determined it was in deed disconnected. Thanks for your responses they were helpful.

Thanks Mark for the suggestion. I have always used gas engines in tractors as a kid and Dad always said don't over rev the engine....

I need to remember to do this, especially when working it hard as you suggest...thanks.

As to the original question on this thread, I realized later that "Tonyia" may not necessarily be concerned about the actual horsepower that I addressed, but about the displacement implying I'm sure as to durability. Does anyone out there have thoughts on this? Does Kubota have smaller engine displacement than other brands with similar horsepower? If so, do they run "hotter" and is that an issue?

3 1/2 hrs. on the tractor. My feeling is that the tractor should have been considered a left over and further discounted. When I called the JD main number for the serial number lookup, they called the tractor an 05. I think to call something new that was made 18 -19 months ago is a stretch. Thanks for the reply.

We have a smooth top (white) GE electric. I do most all of the cooking and I like it fine especially when it comes to clean up. So far no scratches or problems after 4 years.

I have heard a lot of people say they like gas better for cooking but we have never had gas available so have always had electric.

Every spring we suffer an onslaught of black carpenter ants. A two pronged approach works on those for us. I spray around the inside perimter of the basement with diazinon and sprinkle Amdro ant block around the outside perimeter of the house. 4-5 days later and the ant invasion stops for the season. I'm not sure if Amdro works on the little read ants though. This is our second year using it and we've been very pleased.

Some people call my old books junk, I call them reference material! Checking the codes and the sizes from the newer series I believe Alr8869A and Alr8855 rears should get you a set of industrial tires and rims that will bolt on to your tractor. The retail is $1840.00 for all four. I'd recommend that if they have a set you borrow them to be sure as the letter codes are a little different. The mid mount mower will not fit with the industrial tires on the new tractors so I'd doubt they will fit on the older model. Good luck!

Things have been pretty hecktic around here also. Since I am the only person in the house still working, I seem to have fell in love with over time. Got 2 days off over Mem. holiday (which I spent half the time at the hospital, and had two days off to pick up the kid at college. Other than taht worked every day since Easter week. Get home today and find pollen over every thing you can see. This is the Yellow crap that stains everything it touches! I spent the few hours of daylight before the storms came in to put some soap to the old ford tractor and the chevy's in the drive.
Sunday (yes the day I had off) I spent towing one of my vans home on the car trailer. My son had a brake line blow on him on the highway that morning. A single pot too. He managed to catch it before traffic jammed up and in on him. He got her off to the side and out of the way with no damage to our or any other vehical. Hmmm, I spent Sunday splicing into a brake line (only part that was rusted was right behind the front wheel????) the rest was like new?
Oh, then I got to head back to the local hospital again! Feeling like I need to move soon! Way to much/many bad vibes around here!

Murf, maybe the 3ph on orange tractors is further back than it is on green tractors but I have no trouble releasing the quick hitch handles from the seat.
