First of all, welcome to our little slice of the 'net there neighbour!!! :)

I take it from your screen name you're also a pilot? If so are you close to CYSB or Coniston, I get that way a bit now & then.

It sounds like you're on the right track, while I'm a JD neophyte, I think based on how it happened, and what you were doing, you're correct in following wires.

In fact even without the benefit of a wiring diagram or shop manual, I would suggest you have a crawl underneath it and have a real good look around, if you yanked 2 wires out of a connector, it's a safe bet they weren't the only two that got disturbed, it could be more wires are not conected, but also not dangling and obvious either.

If there's no dealer near you, give me a shout, I've got a friend who owns a Greene store, I can get the info and pass it along if nothing else.

The only other thing that comes to mind though, is that you should have 3 wires (strictly from memory) to the pedal for each of forwards and backwards. They should be, ground, power, and return, and the pedal sensor, in conjunction with the power supply varies the amount of voltage to tell the HST how far the pedal has been moved.

If you have no flashing lights, I'd bet you have no power either, without power there's nothing to pass along an error signal.

Pitt, no, you don't need to be spot on, but close helps a bunch.

The 2 lower links (arms) need to be in the correct spot in 3 directions in order to go over the pins, up/down, side-to-side, and fore/aft, if it misses in any one of those directions by very much it will be lots of work to hitch up.

Telescoping arms only solve one of them, the fore/aft aspect. They do nothing for the up/down or side-to-side.

IMHO, the easiest way is to achieve this is too leave the arms spread wide open, then as you get closer, adjust the height to match the pins, then when the arm is close, at least one of them should just slide right over the pin. If one doesn't quite go, I either firmly apply a size 12 boot, or just ease the tractor ahead or back an inch.

The other problem with using the telescoping arms is, the length of the arm determines the height, based on the angle of the arm, in otherwords, lengthening an arm while it's pointed down past horizontal means that it will also get lower as it extends. Since there is only about a 1/8" of tolerance in the pin to hole sizing, if you extend the the arm by very much, it will be too low to go on the pin without lifting the arm, and if the other pin is already on, you wont lift it without picking up the weight of that side of the implement also. THe same is true if the arm is above horizontal.

On top of all of that, you still have to get the arms back into the correct length with a heavy implement on them, and then reach in & around the hitch in order to get the keeper pins back through the arms to lock them in position.

All in all, it's more work than savings from my humble point of view.

I'll help, but I don't loan out the expensive stuff. Just too much money tied up into it and people just don't respect the property of others anymore. Not to mention the liability if something goes wrong. First thing people do is hire a lawyer and go after the good guy who helped someone out.

When I was 16 (long time ago) I worked for a tire company after school. My job was to fix semi tiers and tractor tires. The ones loaded with calcium chloride were enough to convince me to go to college! ;)

Very common to bury gas and electric in the same trench, code in this area is a 12 inch separation last I knew. When I ran the electric to my barn, a 400 foot job, I laid conduit for each utility, used an over-sized conduit for the URD and inserted an extra pull in the electric duct for future "emergencies.

I'm quite sure that woods built them as well as artsway for the 8N tractors.. I'm not sure that any are available new but I'd sure be checking with them as they did in the past. Now to find a used one could be hard as the last I know they were built was about the late 80's for sure. Without having independent PTO they were tough to get used to as you would need some running room to get them going.

Agri Supply ordered a 40 inch Caroni from Italy for me for this fall. No mad rush. Weight and width meet BX 24 specs so I feel a little safer. Could have ordered a 44 but 2 inches over and only 7 pounds over the Kubota spec. Would have been fine but did not want any hassle with Kubota while in warrantee and what's 4 inches anyway. Both of them have a 6 inch offset capability and the 40 may fit where the 44 may not. I saw some good reviews for the Caronis and won't be using it even close to comercially so it should be a great toy for my infrequent needs and demands. Thanks to all for the general insight on tillers. For all I really need, would have been cheaper to have someone come in and do everything than buy the things I bought but what is the fun in that? So far I have been having a blast and getting stuff done I wanted to do for years.

Rupert; It's real easy to get a box blade that's too big. It seems to work out best to have the width of the box blade exceeed the over all width of your tractor by 2-3 inches on each side, that's big enough power and traction wise. I'll kind of toot the horn for a landscape rake when it comes to moving and leveling gravel or soil that has been loosed up buy the scarifers in a box blade. In a landscape rake you could handle a 5-6 foot model to trim up your lane. The box blade gets the rough stuff done and the landscape rake will level things up for you, one machine compliments the other real well. Frank.

Im looking to buy a JM 454. My question to anyone that can help is, Does any one here have much experience with the 400 series tractor and if so has it held up comparable to the 200 and 300 series Jinmas. Im skeptical about the parts availability for this model as I have not heard much about anyone that owns one. <br>
I also want this unit with a Koyker 195 and would like to know if it is quick detach like the 160 model. Thanks
