My wife has become good friends with a neighbor who gave her 10 climbing rose bushes. What do we do with them since we have no more space to plant on 2 acres? Install two sections of split rail fence according to my wife! So off I go to the local lumber place and purchase and install the fence. The backhoe digs the holes but the cleanup and installation with concrete still takes lots of manual work. No rest for me. 550 hours on my JD4310 on only 2 acres. And there is lots more work for my JD.

So far this year I have had the best grass ever. I am not sure if its the fact that we had good water over the winter and spring or that I used a core aerator on my lawn (for the first time) or that I fertilized well. But its been a week without water and the grass is starting to dry up. But so far this year I am very happy with the grass and plants at my place.<br>

Dear friends,

Years ago, I decided to get myself a good hunting dog. Once he was fully trained to retrieve ducks and geese, it seemed that I was never without a hunting partner. Offers came in from all across the county, with people offering to take me duck hunting.

A couple of years later, I decided that I would buy a boat so that I could take my wife and kids fishing with me. Again, I never found myself short of fishing buddies, all of whom were eager to buy my bait, and clean my fish for me.

Well, the old dog finally died, and shortly thereafter I sold the boat. Suddenly, I had no more friends. so..... stupid me......I went and bought a tractor.

Nobody is allowed to use my tractor. If they have a job that requires the use of a tractor, I will gladly do the job for them, for a small fee. I don't charge much, but it seems that even the smallest fee keeps the beggars at bay. Such is life.

Yeah Kenny rub it in...we in the great white nort', eh?, are juuuust starting to plant. Shoot, the trees aren't even fully leafed-in.Like Murf says the nort' is 6 months of good sledding and 6 of not-so-good.

If you will seriously only be pulling a couple of inches of material you may be fine with the extra width. I have used a 5 foot on a 43 hp farm tractor and at times could fail to pull it loaded with dirt. Seven foot blade on 68 hp is a full load also. kt

I've had both shoulders operated on due to torn rotator cuffs. Surgery is the only way to fix a torn rotator cuff; it doesn't heal itself. You'll probably have to be opened up after 18 months, but your orthopedic surgeon will determine the type of surgery. However, as the old saying goes: "the cure may be worse than the disease" - it's painful, takes months of physical therapy for full recovery. But in the end, it's the only way you're going to have full use of your arm/shoulder. Sorry for the reality check.

My power company gives away free timers that you put inline with the heater so it just comes on before you need it. Even if they are not free they will pay for them selves quickly.

Just heard that the steiner 230 model is being discontinued and they do not know how long they will stock parts for the ones in the field. They said they were loosing money on each one they made. Good luck if you own one.

I've decided to go with one trench about 12 to 15 feet long for
2 elect lines 20 amp breaker: feeds from garage breaker box.
1 elect line 15 amp breaker-from house breaker box.
1 phone line.
What I'm undecided on is Should I go with a separate conduit for each of the 4 lines, or can I just run the phone line in one small conduit and run the 3 electric lines in one larger Conduit?

The Gas line will be in a separate trench/ditch any where from 1 up to 2 feet away from the trench with the elect and phone lines.

My 6x4 is overheating. Radiator is full. Decided to replace the thermostat... Still overheating :-( Decided it must be the water pump as the radiator never gets warm (hence pump not pumping the hot water when thermostat opens)... Water pump looks/operates fine...<br>
Not much else to fix/replace.<br>

I agree with others that a box blade is a great counter balance and probably the most useful tool one can attach to the 3 pt. The only problem with a box blade vs. a ballast box is you can fix the ballast box to the frame so you can lower the mower and use it w/o having to take it off (at least on a Kubota you can)and you can not fix the box blade...you have to take it off to mow.

If you find yourself using the FEL a lot along with the mower, constantly removing the mower can be a hassle whereas with a ballast box you can just leave it on.

I truly believe that you won't regret the upgrade, the versatilty alone w/ the BH is really handy. It is amazing how well they hold their value. I traded in my bx22 (the original TLB SCUT from Kubota) after 3 1/2 years and got 75% trade in value. It probably would have held there from then on, but my needs changed and so the story goes.
