How are loose pins on a backhoe repaired? Do they machine and sleeve the worn holes or install oversize pins? Are oversized pins a standard repair item? I don't plan on doing this myself but I'd like to know how it's done.

Murf that "gizmo", does it make a high-pitched whine? Is it ultrasonic, or use radio waves as in induction to generate heat?

My experience in general is a bad 3pt lift piston seal(s) or a bad pump--providing all things are equal like a good filter, no unusual anomolies.

Go ahead and bug the dealer---in the long run and as good customer relations they should want to tell you wwhat valve you have. Talk to the service manager. They know that eventually you may be back to buy an expensive attachment.

As far as a thumb, have you considered just using a manual thumb? I have one on my backhoe and is simple to stow away under the dipper stick. I bought mine form a guy on e-Bay in Canada for about $270 delivered. It came as a kit that I welded together. Nice kit. Well made. And with hydraulic thumbs they're nice to activate down/up but can be a pain to manuever around items that could nick or break the piston rod. Manual ones you don't have to worry about that.

Dan; Art can get lots more specific than I can on Kubota questions, but regardless of brand there are a few basic things about buying used. First, 18 years old and 1200 hours is a long way from being an old tractor, Kubota has a great dealer network that can supply you with parts and service for a long time. If you have little knowledge of tractors in general this can be depending on the price you pay compare to new a real boom or a real bust. How far are you traveling to buy this tractor, do you know the seller? 1200 hours is only 66 hours per year, were these hours all put on in the first couple years of the tractors life and it has sat in a barn or worse in a back yard since? If this tractor has set for years unused, be carefull, that means the fluids could have been in the engine and Transmission for 15 years, that is not good. I urge you to be carefull, this may be totally legitimate or it could be someone unloading a dresset up abused tractor, and also very important, make sure you aren't dealing with a stolen tractor, make the seller provide some proof of ownership, or take the serial number to a Kubota dealer, or law enforcement to check for stolen equipment before you buy. Murf, now really what do you think about ZTR mowers? Don't hold back. I am LOL as I typed that. As a person who has one and really enjoys it and it has done a great job and it cuts a good bit of grass each week...I agree with all you have said about them not only in this thread but many others. They will destroy more grass than you can grow if you are not carefull. They are probably the least stable of all riding mowers on wet grass on slopes or slopes period. But used correctly they can be great. If not different story. Never riden an ATV, to me they are a lot alike...fast equals dangerous. But that is my opinion. kt

If you know someone who has a disk about the size you think you can use and they will allow you to try it I would before I bought one. To me there is more to a disk than many think there is. Based upon my tractor (68 hp 2wh drive) and disk (9 ft)combo you would never pull a 6 foot in my dirt. Hard dirt can be easier to pull in than sandy dirt as the disk does not cut down into the dirt and you have better traction. If you dirt is real hard, a light weight disk will probably just ride over it. How deep you plan on using the disk also greatly affects what you can pull. One big item I did not mention, if you are pulling real slow you might could use that combo here, but the action you get does not break up the dirt as well at slow speeds. kt

Broken Arrow, Agri Supply has a few retail stores and could have it in stock at one of those. The toll free number Gator gave you should be able to check inventory at those but probably would only if you asked them to. They have a fair web site Agri-Supply.com. <br>

From some one who has never handled a coulter, could you not find one with the id you need and have it cut down on the OD? <br>

Another question, in my part of the world I have used a couple of different brands of bottom plows and never seen a coulter on the smaller plows. Here they disk or burn first if need be. kt

I am sure there is more than one way to fill a tire, on a tire repair I jacked up the tire, no air in it and put the antifreeze needed in it by hose and funnel. Was not bad at all. Then used water hose to fill the water. I know the tractor shop has an portable air tank with a opening they poured antifreeze in it pressurized the tank and it runs right in the tire. Other than the port to fill with antifreeze looks just like normal air tank. kt

Thanks to all. I am somewhat of an electronics guy, somewhat retired, and I will take a look at the circuit with my dusty voltmeter. I suppose I knew this was coming. I had been looking at the downloaded parts list and found that part not very clear as to what was inside the dash. Pearl diving it seems next. Will report what i find.

Not sure of the exact hours as there is no hour meter on the Foreman. I can only estimate between 75 and 100 hours maybe a little less.

That's a low end answer! Probably from someone trying not to do their job. The L-3400 is built using many parts and designs that they used in the past. Much of the Kubota line up of offering is ahead of the market so as they phase some models out they become the standard tractors of tommorow.
It is covered!!!! Now I get to see and hear about low end dealers! The tractor if within the two years should be covered other then by abuse.

Thanks Art. Will pull all safety switches and clean and reconnect. Will redo all PTO levers and clean and refasten all connections around solenoid and report back.

Try doing a search at Kubota.com. They show it as a Gray Market tractor not built for the US market. Decals are not in english, some safety features are not there and parts may be an issue. You will find some who have had success with Gray Market tractors and others will tell you to avoid them. kt

I tried a flail mower on my small Kubota about same size and liked it very much. Liked the offset to it. Only problem I found was turning with it was not as easy as the rotary mower due to roller on rear. Other than that I really like it more than the rotary cutter and agree with Murf they are easier on weight and HP requirements. As to the weight limit, much of the rotary cutter's weight is on the trail wheel.

EW, not sure I understand your backing up on the tree but if you are...be sure something limits the up motion of your cutter as you can jam the PTO shaft damaging your tractor (experience). kt
