Hello - I've been looking at a 1986 MF 1030. I need a small tractor and this particular one has been very well cared for - it has 970 hours and was stored indoors. However, I've been researching and can't find much information in the way of owner testimonials. I've seen a few posted on ebay, but obviously the sellers aren't going to say their machines are lemons. What I have noticed is that none of the machines for sale have a lot of hours on them. Most are in the 1000 hour range. I wonder if these units can last for 6000+ hours that you would normally expect out of a good diesel machine. Comments please... and thank you.

Cub Scout, it will not help you directly but recently a person here went to prison for dealing in stolen equipment. I was told he hid part of in in a pond.

On a funny side, I heard of a farmer who reported his tractor stolen and got paid for it. The next year when he went to a field of his he found the tractor. Had forgotten where it was parked. Too many toys (tools) I guess. kt

Ken/Frank I lucked out on this gen it is a 30k. They did not have a 20k in stock.

So I ended up with a lot more gen than I have tractor enough to run. Reserve is always good.

Shut it down at 11:45 last night. It's right at 32F house holds heat ok and wood stove shut down to bare minimun because no fans to move air. Still no power at 5am. So back on gen at 5:30. Power suspose to be back on by noon. Only 103 customers affected, on this line.

Yard is a mess tree on top of big satellite dish, 15' of a tree top just missed my car, thats just what I can see from house with yard lights on this morning.

The L-4400 is a good working unit and they have a good performance record.

A used L-35 low hours are normally under the 30,000 mark.

Unless you are working on loose soil that is wet I've found that the turf work great for most all jobs. If the ground is wet the turf will likely dig or mark the turf less. If you are going to be working in loose soil then the bars of the industrial tires might give you more to grab with.

Hey all; Thanks for the helpfull feedback. Can't seem to open a reply window to any of you for some reason. Want to give special thanks to Billy for mentioning that the relief valve will protect. I tend to worry too much about lots of things and this is one of them. I can relax now.

It's hard to cover everything in a post but,

Take the litte/small wire off the starter solenoid and make sure it is not touching anything and see if it will blow the fuse then.

If it does ... odds are ingition switch is bad.

If it blows only with the wire connected to the solenoid then odds are the solenoid is bad.

Also, the small wire off the solenoid could be contacting ground ?

Around here the going price for labor only is $2.50-$3.50 (sometimes more) based on total surface area---roof and sides (NOT sq. footage of the floor). No dirt work, concrete, electrical, permits, etc.

I charged $2 a sq.ft surface for an 18x32 with 12/12 pitch and a 10x32 lean-to. Will never do that again--way too cheap. Built it by myself over the course of a month in the hottest and most humid summer in years. About killed me. After that I bought a 40' manlift and now I'm spoiled---what is a "ladder" for anyway? LOL

Your correct that it doesn't have a water pump. No Thermostat either. I'm real curious to see what it does this summer when it hits 100F outside.

So, since the BX1500 has no sleeves, I should add some type of water pump additive about once a year, and that should do it, right?

Well I don't think it is an internal problem if the radiator isn't down! Thru the years I've seen many a block with casting flaws but I don't think this is the problem.
Many times we change out the fluid two to three times before they clean up, I do believe you've got condensation in the block or a way for it to build up with where it is parked.

Broken; Thanks for the response, yes things were working out good till we dicovered that the "Small Stuff", in the former shop at the farm was just more than we ever imagined it would be. We had built a loft in the shed here at the house, it is already to the ceiling with lumber, so we built another loft along the opposite wall, it's full. There is still Stuff (good stuff) at the farm, all the junk and marginal has bee sold or hauled away I've got room for the 4310 and the Gator but no room for any of my impliments or another 2000 ft. of lumber, the wife's mower and her complete collection of every John Deere adult lawn toy they ever built, they arer sitting outside. Really was an easy sell to conmvince the Mrs. that another shed was needed to store things, I've got the same firm UBC that built our house and the shed to build a second shed. We havent made a firm decision yet as to the size, probably in the 40X60 range, but I've never saw anyone have to saw off one end of a shed and take it back bcause the shed was too big, there just isn't such a thing. But to the meat of your response, yes we are adding to the value of property that kids could squabble over someday, but the wife and I kind of have an agreement that soon as the firs of us are gone the one left is going to sell the rest of the farm (50 acres) and the acerage where we are now and either rent an appartment or maybe buy a condo, just to help prevent things like happened to your father in law. All our kids get along pretty well now, but as was said the strongest of familys can be torn apart over the almighty dollar. Frank.

I have somehow misplaced the mower manual for my 1988 755 John Deere with a 160 60" belly mower. <br>

Does anyone have their manual and the sequenced procedure to level the mower deck and also the lift height? After almost 20 years with this tractor you'd think I'd know it without a manual. If possible could you email a scan? Thanks. Tom <br>

The old has to go! Spraying is the most effective way but before you get started I'd still recommend some soil tests. I do prefer the fertilizer be liquid and not applied with the drill if that is your method of seeding. The fertizer can be quite a rust maker if care is not taken.

The application can be done in several ways, to use a seeder I like the ground drive units over the pto drive, less moving parts is the winner here.

propilot, my guess would be these smaller CUTs aren't built as tough as the bigger CUTs. So they set the relief to release before something goes bad or really bad. Art can give you a more decisive answer cause he knows these machines.<br>

Hi I bought a YM1601. I looked and looked at tractors, while American is the most popular I opted for Japanese. There are a number of importers that sell these low mile products. the one I have has 550hrs. I paid 7k, came with loader, which was brand new, backblade, which was brand new and a tiller that was used. 3cyl 20hp. 4x4 is a really good machine. Depending on your location I know the dealer in Ohio, Ore. Idaho Cal. they all sell yanmar imported used tractors. I would be happy to direct you to their web site but I have to spell it out, you have to figure out what I am sending, tractor point does not want web sites posted. here goes. www dot best dash used dash tractors dot com let me know how you do. question was it smoking out the blow by tube when it was running if it was has the yellow temp light been coming on if yes spray a little starting fluid and see if it will start if it does you probley need rings when the yellow light comes on its because its over heating and took the temper out of the rings and now has low compression

Most companies on the industrial units do limit their warrantees to one year. But that model is covered by the two year 1500 hour drivetrain warrantee. Get after them!!!!
