jkcffs: I bought a Landpride 1558 forward rotating tiller this past winter that I haven't got to try out yet. I looked at a reverse rotation Landpride sitting beside it and almost bought it instead. My thought was that perhaps the reverse rotating tines would toss any surface trash over the top instead of catching and wraping in the tiller tines, not sure of that, but just my thought. Others here may have some first hand information that will help you more. I'n not sure how big a Ford 660 is but your 4100 Deere may be crying "Uncle" when it tries to pull or lift a tiller of that size. Look up Landpride.com it gives all the specs on the power needed and the weight of the tiller for your 3pt. hitch to lift. Your owners manual for the 4100 will tell you it's lift capacity, you'll definetly need some front end weights or a loader on the 4100 for ballance and safety. You can buy cheaper tillers than a Landpride, but I don't think there ijs a better tiller built than a Landpride. Best of luck. Frank.

Broken: When you measured for the size coulter you have clearance for did you take into account for any "slop" in the swivel joints that may allow the coulter to push up against the plow frame when you drop it in the ground? Frank.

Loader, no questions asked hands down IMO.
Anything else you need you can justify it later but you will always find use for a loader esp. with a 21 acre horse farm.
Thats my choice.
(hmm, I was told that right here about 3-4 years ago, they were right then and I think they are still right

Keep an eye on the steel prices, if you here rumblings and your still looking, maybe one should buy sooner than later.
Sounds like a fair price but make sure (as always) your able to work with the dealer and the distance is do-able if need be.

$16,700 seems a very good price. I paid $17,550 (including the UCC for the 36 month zero interest deal)for a BX24 TLB (Tractor, Loader, Backhoe) plus a 60 inch finish mower (bought and delivered today). But, I question what kind of mower they sold you, not Kubota as they don't have one that small for the BX24, only 54 and 60 inch.

Does anyone own a 1601 or 1610 Yanmar? I would like to know how to extend the wheels outward for maximum distance. I am worrried about tipping while on a side hill or incline. Does anyone know if I can reverse the rear wheels and gain anything? is there any spacers I can purchase or just what can be done? JB

I do hope that things will work out in the end -- and I know they will but I don't know what the future looks like. Right now, for lack of a better term, I am broken. I hurt. But I know that I can and will get through this...

I know this thread is prettyold but thought it was a good place to post this. My step brother has the same problem (rocks and mowing not hurricanes). His solution was to buy 5 used push mowers and gang them together. Up here in Vermont you can usually find someone selling ones he pulled from the dump, in his case less than a mile down the road. $5 each and a discount if he brings back the old one. He goes through about 6 a year, lol. Just thought I would share.

I just bought a yanmar 1601D Is there a way to mount the wheels so they extend further out in the rear and front? I would like all the stabilty I can get. Not sure if reversing wheel will add much width.

I've had two Yanmar diesels in the past, a 24hp duece and a 22hp three banger. I can't quite feature how it would even start with a bad injection pump. Or are you using starting fluid? That said, both mine had conventional spin-on fuel filters. Are you sure that clear thing you're talking about isn't the sediment bowl?

Starting - running for a while - then dying, does point to either fuel or air. But the fact that it starts in the first place should indicate the injection pump is usable. Have you tried to keep it running yet with the hand primer pump?

If anybody ever used gas dryer in that tank before, that stuff doesn't play nice with diesel fuel and rubber. When hoses deteriorate from the inside out, they can clog filters and injectors. But they can also form flaps inside, which can block fuel. Sometimes it takes some fuel FLOW before a flap of loose rubber drops in place to ultimately stop the flow. Are you in a position to scrounge the junkyard for replacement hose or tubing?

And air. If you haven't already, take air filtration out of the equation. Disconnect it at the manifold, and let the intake suck in unfiltered air to see if that helps keep it running.

Are you sure that the place that is leaking the oil isn't the crankcase vent tube. I had problems with low power and burning lots of oil that were caused by really worn rings creating blow by in the cylinders and forceing oil and smoke out that tube. At least that is what I was told was going on. I also would get lots of oil or diesel splatter on my hood and clothes out of the exhaust. To make a long story short, I rebuilt the beast with pistons, rings, liners bearings and rebuilt the head. I've got 40 hours on the rebuild and seems to have solved all my problems. I don't know much about the injector pump and problems associated with it and I'm hoping I don't have to trouble shoot that any time soon. Hope this helps.

The 4700 does not have glow plugs, but it does have an intake air heater. The threat of preignition is still there. If you are having starting problems, maybe the heater is not working properly.

Yoper; One of the first tests they did was for Gout. They draw some fluid out of the ankle join, put it on a microscope plate and check for microscopic crystals in the fluid. Crystals=Gout, no crystals=no gout. No crystals were found. Frank.

I have a taskmaster 24hp I bought almost 2 yeats ago. It also had some installation problems but once they were ironed out have had nothing but success. Do think the clutch is slipping and don't have a good maitance manual to check, but will check with my dealer and find out what needs to be done. Have front end loader, brush hog, box scraper and rock rake. use all of them at one time or another without any problem. They all marry well with this tractor and for the price is great. Had a Mitsubishi for a short while, too many probems with the hydrolics.
