The gauge I referred to is mechanical, which means it has it's own oil line. You remove the original OPSU, screw in the flexible oil piping that comes with the gauge, mount the gauge, you're done. I'm not sure I'd want a lighted mechanical gauge - electricity so close to oil under pressure, and all that. But if the mechanical gauge actually has a lighting option, you should be able to pick up 12v from the old idiot light wiring.<br>

I'm looking at buying a new Kubota BX24. The local dealer gave me a price of $16,700. It includes the front end loader, backhoe, and a four foot finish mower. Is this a good/fair deal?

Yoper: First,kind of an update from Mayo. I did the scheduled tests yesterday and again today, with the rest to be completed in five more days during the next two weeks. We surely appreciate everyones concern and prayers, I've got all the faith in the world that they will find the problem. Yoper, I really can't answer your question about elm, I've never used any for furniture wood, mostly allways red or white oak, maple, walnut, or cherry. Several years ago I took a couple red elm logs on trade for something, I had them sawn and stickered to dry. This lumber has sat in the corner of the shop for years, I noticed some cracking of the lumber too, so maybe air drying isn't the best for elm. I posted the question about elm on one of the woodworking sites a month or so ago, some guys posted pictures of tables, etc. made from red elm, it looks almost like red oak. One of my first projects this summer is to make somethung out of the elm just to see how it works. Frank.

I had about the same issue a couple of years ago, turned out to be a wasp in my fuel tank. As the fuel drained it sucked it over the outlet and the tractor would run out of fuel. Let it sit and it would run again for a few minutes. Found out it was in the tank by opening the fuel cutoff with filter off. kt

You Can Power Beyond the Loader Valve, Then use your remotes to run the backhoe. The Standard pump on a 2360 iz just 4gpm. You can Upgrade it to a 9gpm.

The set-up from Kubota will fit right on and is the most reasonable priced I've found. To convert the bucket to the QT system I tend to steer away from the weld on units as it is hard to build back out and with the cost of the labor to do it I recommend to trade it in at the dealer when getting the other attachments. The QT will take all the equipment that the newer skid steers will take.

There is a serial number break on the loader units so be sure to have it available for the QT

Reading some of this reminds me of a stump removal method a friend told me his dad used. He cut off the trees, planted peanuts around the stumps and turned hogs loose after the peanuts matured. They would root up the ground for the peanuts, loosening the dirt and stump. This was many years ago. Guess if you could get squirrels to bury acorns around the stumps that would work also.

Going back to the axe, I have known of people digging a hole large enough to cut the stump off a couple of feet below ground level. Some pines here can grow a major tap root. Not sure how safe that is, to be in hole with a stump being cut loose and you not sure how it will move when it is cut loose. kt

I'm with a Marine Corps Unit in Iraq. We have a John Deere Gator 4x6 Diesel here that nobody has seen work since we got here. Regardless, spent the last 20 hours working on it, and it will now start under it's own power. It will run for 20 seconds and then shut down like it's running out of fuel. Wait a few seconds and the cycle will repeat. The fuel filter and pump have been replaced with known good replacements from another one, and the problem still exists. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It goes without saying that out here, parts are not available, and diagnostic tools are limited to very basic things.<br>

Need solid bed, no runners, 7000lb. gross weight minimum, 63 or larger in width, have 2&5/16 ball or 2in. Need brakes and RV type plug (7) wire. 15in tires ok, tandem axel. Can pick up in Eastern WA or Northern Idaho, Needed it yesterday. Also need drive up type loading ramps.

I maintain a 1 mile section of private road of crushed limestone. I bought a road grader to do it and was sadly disappointed. The oldtimers put the road in and were grinning from ear to ear when they saw me coming. But...

I ended up buying a 6' power box rake---which is the cat's meow! It will chop up anything in it's way while at the same time fluff up the material and grind through the hard spots that occur around a pot hole. Aftyer the whole roadway is fluffed up I then pull a 6' box scraper over it to level and redistribute it where needed.

The same oldtimers said that after the road was done with the power rake and box scraper, the road had NEVER been so smooth (he'd watch the car's taillights at night go down the road and looked like it was on glass it was so smooth)

The power rake is like a high-speed rototiller with carbide tips on an 8" rotating drum versus a tiller which has slow moving tines. (cost about $4500 used, about $7000 new) Wear ear protection though! It's loud with all that grinding going on!

Go to "Yesterdays Tractors" web site and look up "Hauling Schedule" then place a "need to haul" classified ad.

I placed an ad and got about 6 replies in one day. Be careful though---it's too easy for anyone to call themselves a "hauler". I found that for the same price from a registered and legal hauler (versus someone who just has an old pickup and no insurance) you can rest assured that you will be covered. Get a Certificate of Insurance from their insurance company before you do anything. I talked to guys who said they don't carry insurance so if something happens to your 'bota---like it falls off the trailer and gets damaged and/or kills someone, who pays (they won't)---or worse it never gets to the destination. Prices range from 75 cents to $1.75 a loaded mile.

Bottom line is go with the guy that has his own insurance. And check with your own agent to see what is or isn't covered with your insurance should something happen.

Seriously, I cut gardens every day in the warmer weather for years (since 1987), and it has performed TERRIFIC, short of the occasional bent or sheared tine, but that will happen with all of them.

The primary considerations, would be making sure a)having a slip clutch on the tiller drive. Without it, if you jam up or hit something, either the shock will travel into your tractor pto drive and potentially damage it, or the chaincase of the tiller will take a hit, or both. I know of guys that have one without the slip clutch, and they break chains quite often.
Secondly, the pto of your tractor coupled with the lifting capacity is important. One does not think of the added weight when lifting the 3pt, when you have the tiller loaded with real wet soil attached - that is a HUGE addition of weight, above and beyond the weight of the tiller. Having the tractor that you have, a five footer would be no problem that I can see. I think my pics still show my tiller, fyi

Yes, I did get that Serial # from a Tag that's riveted onto the left side of the front of the Clutch housing. When I say left, I mean left from seated position on tractor.

I did see a flat/smooth spot on the transmission housing near the left leg. This area looked to be a place that a model/serial tag might belong. However, I don't see any indication of it having had rivets in this area.

New member here. That is correct, sir. Pollen is their protein source. I kept bees for about 5 years in New Hampshire before a bear wiped me out. My electric fence quit working and hadn't realized it. The bear figured it out thought. Although I never started up again it was fun and not all that labor intensive.
