Thanks all. There are good support systems in place for me, the kids, and my wife -- lots of family and friends nearby really helps. The hardest part is that she really doesn't see that she is not thinking and acting rationally as her mind is clouded with this sickness. Yesterday, for the first time, she said that maybe she is sick. For the most part, though, she says that the problems are not with her but with the marriage, her past (particularly the way her mother treated her 20-30 years ago), and most importantly, everyone who is meddling with her -- if everyone just leaft her alone she would be fine. For example, I called her doctor and told her what was going on -- the doctor was very concerned and wanted to see her first thing the next day. The doctor met with my wife for over an hour, then my wife went to a "nurse psychiatrist" (not sure what the actual title is) who met with her for almost two hours. Both of these people recomended a voluntary, intense, partial hospitalization program (my wife opted out). Yet, I was the bad guy -- if I had not gotten involved, none of this would have happened. She just doesn't see that it was two different trained medical professionsals (in addition to the therapist she sees and the marriage counselor we see together) who were concerned and recomended a course of treatment -- if they had thought she was fine, they would have told her to leave and told me that everything is just fine and we just have relationship issues.

It is hard but I get through it by reminding myself, many times a day, that she is sick and it is the disease talking, not her. If she had cancer or some other illness that required long-term treatment and difficult treatment, I (and others) would be by her side supporting her. Mental illness, unfortunately, has a stigma attached to it, but it is an illness. With time, support, and treatment, I know she will see this, admit that there is a problem, and more actively seek treatment.

Hey guys I feel like an idiot for having to ask this. I want to add a couple work lights to the rear of my 4710. I have seen a couple posts indicating that there may be an unused 12V connection for just that purpose. I have checked a couple moulded connectors that dont seem to be plugged into anything but they do not seem to be connected to the lights switch. I get no 12V when checking them. Can anyone guide me in the right direction? I tied two forward facing lights into the tail light circuit but I don't want to add any more draw to that circuit.<br>

It won't "pick it up" but that's what the FEL's for---but I use a box scraper pushed backward. It does a real nice job of floating over the ground just enough to push things into a pile without collecting a lot of dirt. I have a hydraulic top link which makes it nice to quickly change the attack angle to go from agreesive "dozing" to lightly rolling debris into a pile. I have moved 4-5 cubic yards of yard debris at a time this way just with a 6' box scraper. And the other benefit is the more you can push the better the effect of brooming and levelling.

As far as picking up the debris, consider a grapple attachment. Depending on the debris, there are flat, solid bottom ones aka "Industrial". And, others that are open or called "Root grapples". I have found that a root grapple works good for branches, but allows dirt and some debris to fall through the tines---that's easily remedied by temporarily installing a flat plate of steel over the tines. I use an Industrail grapple--It will pick up everything---from dirt to cars.

I won't go into politics, but if you look around, it's easy to see that uniformed people tend to believe anything they see or hear on TV.

People trying to sell something simply take advantage of that fact. Do I agree with it, of course not. Yet people need to take responsibility for themselves. As was already mentioned here, call, question and probe for the truth.

Stick with the 4 footer. It will be at the max. end of a good match for your tractor and give it every bit of its money's worth turning it not to mention the weigh factor. I have a heavy duty 4 footer I use on my 4410 at 662 lbs. you definitely know it is back there.

Mowing through those tall weeds would be a pain in a small tractor. I bought my 2910 with the intention of being able to use it (when and if the Chalmers bit the dust) to rotary cut my fields as I like being as high above the pollen as possible.

In fact, I have given some thought to using a sickle bar to eliminate having to drive through the stuff.

I have one day to decide on buying a 2001 Kubota L3000DT before it is traded on a newer model. It has 86 hours and appears in great shape. Its being offered at $10,800 through a private seller. It has a 66 inch kubota loader. No other impliments. R4 tires in great shape. Ive been looking for an L3010 or L3400 but they've all been in the 15k range. Any thoughts what kind of value the L3000dt is at that price and whether it is worth waiting to get one of the newer models? The 5k difference really has me leaning toward the L3000dt.

I have a 2910 with the Curtis Cab, removable canvas doors and back curtain. Also have the heater and switch box. I use the tractor to operate my snow blower and my loader for winter use.

I have not been impressed with Curtis products in the past but the cab is decent and I love the heater! It usually drives me out so I need to switch it on and off, but during some of the extreme cold, high winds and heavy snow in February it was just keeping up with the window deicing. I had the fan installed too, which I would not be without.

The one thing I would caution you about is mowing and storage clearance. Do you have any areas your tractor must go which requires folding down the ROPS? If not, you will love having a cab.

The valve for 600 installed is a bargin. I can understand the need for it, the factory kit is nice and neat and hardly noticable in the way it is all mounted.

I have a Duerr chipper model # 678 and it runs great, upon getting it ready I was taking the carburator bowl off and the .needle valve bolt that holds it in broke, It is aprox 1 inch long thedded with small hole it is hollow and a nut on the end with threads for the needle valve. Where can I get a replacement?

Well, i reversed the blade and initially it still had the issue, but after I had to climb up on the loadr forks and stand on the attachment mount on the loader frame, I noticed that the blade's edge seemed to be flat on my garage floor! Hopefully that sticks!

We haven't seen that as a problem on those make cabs. The paint quality seems to be good on them. If you are doing a lot of road work with any tractor you can have rust. The tractor I'm using this winter to clean my yard is a L-3450 that I sold a landscaper new that also plowed snow with it around his town. It has close to three thousand hours hours on it and the cab is fine other then a few attaching bolts and a missing floor mat on the left side and a couple of lights that are out. The rust on the cab matches the rest of the tractor for one that vintage with the hours that it has.

kwschumm , thanks; i tried the bulb and it works on the other side and the bulb on the other side does not work on the right side. So i gotta do some trouble shooting.

If you keep your eyes open you can find self-propelled trencher deals. I bought a big 6,000 lb. Case trencher with backhoe (a 1987 DH5 model) for $1000, put $300 into it and made $3000 in work then three years later got $4500 for it. It could trench from 2" wide to 16" wide in one pass. And you'll be amazed at the new friends (neighbors) you'll meet when they find out you have one. I'd stay away from a 3pt, and you'll probably have a hard time selling it if you do get one.
