As long as dirt/debris can't get in the front housing or transmission housing with the shaft removed and oil can't get out you should be OK to use it..

Awe gee SG, 'preciate it. Got home a few days ago. Took three days to get home since the trailers started fishtailing at about 65. Went from 70 degrees one day to 16 degrees a few days later---even got 4 inches of snow. Oh yeah since I sold my snow plow last Fall I just gazed out the wind'r (redneckspeak for "window") and thought how nice it was to enjoy the snow--rather than be plowing it at 2am. On the down side, came home to frozen and broken water pipes (apparently I didn't drain them all the way DOH!). Done about 6 repairs and still not fixed. Neighbor's letting me use his shower. Now it's in the 40's and mud everywhere underneath---or at least where I have to lay to fix the leaks.

Loader sits a little crooked, but dealer said bhe would resolve at 50 hr service.
EXCELLENT dealer service so far.
Only have 40 hours, but so far would buy again.

I agree with Len, a fix should not require splitting the tractor. If it jumped out of gear under torque, maybe - since that's often what happens when gear faces get rounded off.

But the 2wd/4wd engage lever simply forkes a sliding gear on a short shaft. What holds the lever in place is typically a spring that holds a ball in a slide detente. If you're lucky, you shouldn't need much more than a new spring.

Do you have a parts diagram of that tractor? If so, you should be able to see the spring right under the shift lever cover.

I agree with Ken on the four foot! Most sub compacts have a cooling fan on the transmission that is made out of plastic and they don't take to well to limbs and such sticking up into them.

Ken, ask as Ken had said as to their use. We often have taken the straight BX's in for one's with backhoes and they are far from abused and still a great value. Look at what they had worked with and see if there is any damage. If I see decks bent in and signs of operator neglect I would stay away.

The farmall cub was started in 1947 and he same basic tractor was built till 1979. Ih built many tractors for the farmers that were known to be able to cultivate well right back to the Regular model. That was basically a F-20 with an open gearbox for steering that used a cable assist to the front to turn the wheel faster. When it got to a certain point the cables took over and to have your thumbs hooked into the wheel at that time was a painful mistake! It wasn't till the Cub as well as the models A and B that they went offset for single row cultivation. They did have a model BN that would take the mid cultivators as well as the C,H and M that would straddle two rows and depending on models could do up to four rows. Later they went to front mount and could cultivate up to 12 rows. The Cub's ran that four cylinder engine from start to finish of production with a loboy also being in the line-up and they were also used in the later center chassis design in the 154,184 and 185 tractors that were actually the first compact tractors available for estates that offered everything for attachments except for four wheel drive.

Oh, then you apparently don't have a 200 series. My mistake. That engine never went into the 200 series, and opens a whole nuther kettle of fish. What make/model of tractor are we actually talking about here? <br>

If it's a 300 series, then definitely you need over 7 quarts. The sump itself holds nearly six and a half, and the larger capacity JX85100 filter takes probably close to another quart by itself<br>

Search and see if you can find a wrecked over the road truck with a Cat 3406. This was a VERY popular engine in these vehicles. Harvey is right. Unless yours is T-totaled, it might be better to do a rebuild on the motor you have. In frame rebuilds are very common on trucks with these engines but may not be practical with your wheel loader and you may have to pull the engine.

JohnMeyer; I was just catching up on the latest posts on TP, and noticed that none of us answered your question about a 12 inch auger. I had a TSC three point PTO auger for a while, but finally sold it before someone got hurt with it. I consider it as probably the most danerous attachment sold today. I'm am not critisizing TSC in particular as I don't think I've seen any other brand that I would consider any safer than theirs. So if you do buy one be extra carfull and never work alone with it, PLEASE. Enjoy your day and keep safe. Frank.

I have used two large pipe wrenches either side of the bend with mild heat on the bend, then use the wrenches to bend her back (I've done this too by welding long pipes to the piece instead of wrenches). The key is securing the rake in place so you can apply enough leverage without chasing it around the yard. If it's really bent and you have a welder, either relief-cut the bend and weld the gap. Or cut out the bent portion and weld in a new piece of angle.

After you get it straightened, consider adding another equal-length piece of angle to make it into a box section. Otherwise, you'll keep having this problem.

Norm, as long as you stick to that slow & steady till you get the hang of it, I'm sure you'll be just fine.

If you do get impatient however, just whistle, like I said, it's not that far out of my way. I'm heading south next week, but will be back before months end, I'm just not sure exactly when yet.
