Hi everyone, I bought a Northern Ontario waterfront lot last year and would like advice on BX TLB capabilities. I have several big stones 2X2X3, stumps from trees 16 inches across and the rest is rocks and gravel that I need to move around the lot to level. I also need to clear the waterfront of rocks "slowly" so the Ministry don't notice (wink). IF needed, I have limited access the neighbours backhoe, but would like to do most of it by myself. From what I have read the BX seems capable but I figured I ask the experts. Told the wife I would by a tractor, use it for a couple years then sell it, but after reading about the BX maybe I'll try to hide it in the garage after!!<br>

Forgot to add. Stones do not have to be lifted away, rolled out of the way would be find. The stones weight about 170 # per cubic foot. And I got all the time in the world (if The BX comes with a beer holder). Canadian eh!<br>

i have a 1974 ym 15002wd w/ parts cat.(in japanees) need to know a few things about this fine tractor. 1) what are the fluid capacities for this unit ? engine oil, transmission etc. seems the unit came with only caps and not dip sticks. 2) i have a unit with the dynamo (pre-unit to the alternator) and not sure about the workings of this unit . i have tried to check w/ volt meter at battery and it appears that it it is not charging. the question is how do i check this unit to ensure it has the correct output and to what and how is it connected.? voltage regulator/ current limmiter as shown in the parts cat. <br>

I have one it's a 4 cyl. 24 hp standered transmission. It has a FEL,6ft scraper blade, 4 ft BH, 12" PHD. I have had it for 6 years now. I have had to change the water pump and replace three original tires. She starts every time no mater how cold or how long she has been sitting. I have turf tires and it does fine with snow and mud. I used to have a belly mower, but I couldn't use the FEL so I sold it and bought a 71" Ferris zero turn to mow the grass. I guess you could say that I’m very happy with it. If I can be of any help just let me know.

On mid size JD CUTs the ballast tables in the manual for loader equipped machines all require loaded tires.

The tech manual lists K4 as the Engine Run Relay (?) There are three relays involved in the mid-pto circuit. K14 is the interlock relay, K15 is the lockout relay, and K16 is the mid pto relay.

You can try it but I would be up front with people otherwise you could be in a world of hurt up to and including a dirt nap (that's maybe an exaggeration). Many a guy has bought these gray-market tractors and comes to TP looking for manuals, parts and service only to find little or no solice.

I'd consult a lawyer specializing in contract law and strict liability before proceeding to cover your legal butt. If there are any local dealers of name-brand CUTs around you may find in short order they may try to run you out of town or at the very least try to detract from your business.

I know guys back home that were selling a tractor (FarmPro??) that was made in China. The dealer was smart enough to sell them at a used car lot a friend of mine owned---that put another layer of people to get through when things went bad. And things did go bad on the sales end when the car lot owner was showing many persons a machine on his lot (he had two)---but he would never move the tractor off his lot. People would stop in and say how they liked the tractor they bought. Turns out the dealer, in order to not pay commission had the deals routed to another location. This is what happened to me selling for the con-man from Arkansas: He would lease--not even buy--new equipment from another dealer like a $100,200 excavator, and park it on a car lot I was temporarily operating my excavating business from. Then he brought two more machines, which were gray-market. I was suppose to sell the machines and make a commsission for keeping an eye on them and for sales. Instead he put his phone number on the signage and routed the calls to him and then sell them a different machine thereby feeling since I didn't sell THAT particular machine I wasn't owed a commission. We parted ways as soon as I caught on this when guys would come onto the lot saying "oh yeah I have bought this, this, a this from him."

To add to Murf's explanation the other reason it's futile to try to put real-world compaction results to a formula is that there are some materials that don't compact like sand, pea gravel, river stone, and forms of crushed stone or concrete to name a few.

The other factors are moisture content, type of soil, clay or other solids content, and the list goes on.

As far as moisture goes I have had dry beach sand that I've tried to get dump trucks backed up over into a driveway. Got them stuck everytime until I sprayed it down with water and the trucks drove over it instantly, with no other compaction.

Back home in SE Michigan it's 22 above. Here in 'sippi on the coast it's 72 and sunny---in fact the air just shut off. Makes me glad I sold my snow plow last Fall.

Blueman, they last a long time, wear is not the issue, chewing up the pavement is.

We used to use them in a commercial snow removal application, both at a trucking terminal and we needed to clear the ramps and loading docks, nothing else would plow up the ramps, and also clearing the access ramps for underground parking at the condo complexes.

A set would last a full season of commercial plowing operations no problem.

They changed the regulations now though after a person was killed when a vehicle they were trying to push slid down the ramp and killed them when they were pinned between it and another vehicle. All such ramps have to be heated to keep them clear now.

They don't do much for deep snow, but on hard-pack, or ice, they're tremendous.

Same up here Harvey. There was a big push on a few years back after some duals came off in traffic, to clamp down on big trucks not up to snuff.

After the got that issue straightened out, and got the junk either fixed or off the road, they started to look farther down the list, and rightly so.

I was speaking with one of Provinces top enforcement officers with the Provincial Police, our version of the State Troopers, at an industry trade show and he said they have told the front line officers to focus on pickups starting this year, particularly those pulling trailers, and landscapers and contractors in particular.

He said the will be focusing on safety above regulations, but wont turn a blind eye to a big violation of ANYTHING unsafe.

It's about time, if I have to play the rules, so does everyone else.

Art, where do you find the "The ratings help but a higher TBN like 11 plus is a good thing to consider as well as a Sulfated ash count over 1."

I have looked at some of the brands here and don't see it on their label. Is that what Rotella means by "soot control"?

Anyone have an idea where to get internal engine parts for a Hinomoto E224 3 cylinder diesel. I think my rings are toast, as there is a lot of blow by (smoke) coming out of the vent tube, and the tractor is getting real hard to start when cold. I am hoping to find rings, and get by just deglazing the walls, and installing new rings. Hopefully I will also be able to find head a gasket.<br>

I have a JD 4300 year 2000. Within the first year my battery developed some corrosion at the positive terminal and under the battery. I cleaned and repainted the area, bought an equivalent Delco Freedom battery, made a new hold down device. The battery went in in 2000. Jan. 7th, 2007, still going strong. I didn't go to the dealer because the replacement would have been the same leaky type that was removed.

I sold the chipper so can't check how it rides in the pulley, but I do remember the Gates A-36 not being the perfect size on that chipper. It worked though. I still have an unused spare on the shelf for it.

I know the skids for a number of years have been using motor oil but not the tractor. I don't get in the shop for first hand wrenching anymore but I've never known about switching from one to the other without complications in longeviety.

Does the valve have cables, if so could have ice in it. The detent is on the bottom of the lift spool could have ice or rust in it. Iv'e only seen rust there but bein cold out ice is possible. The detent will unscrew off the valve.
