Ok, I just purchased a 3pt log splitter and need rear Hydraulics, I hate to spend $400 on factory remotes, can anyone tell me if you have fabbed up your own rear remotes, i have a loader so i will use the hook ups on it untill i get the rears, <br>

I have a 2003 NH TC35, I started with a TC29 and it was TOO SMALL for any large woods work, I have heard a lot of people say the 35 doesnt have enough engine BUT if you go with the gear drive you wont be sorry, I have used mine since new now with 400+ hours on it and it has never let me down, It is used on over 200 acres and has pulled alot of timber up out of the woods some up to 24+ " in diameter, The 35 is a GREAT machine!

I'd guess somewhere in the $11k range for tractor, loader and mower. You'd probably do better on the implements selling them separately. Check out dealer asking prices at machinefinder dot com.

Up to a four footer will work. With the three you can go faster and do a better job on uneven terrain.

If the 2620 has three ranges, you may find that you get smooth powershifts only in range 2. Modulate the throttle to reduce jerking. The slamming won't bother the clutch, but other drivetrain components aren't happy.

You could try a new rad cap. Those gaskets can deteriorate. You need about 10 lbs pressure.

Recently auction-bought an AgriMetal JD2 blower, planning to convert it to a rear 3-pt hitch (my tractor's not a Deere). But it can't be easily converted. Apparently front-mounts on a JD 935 and others. I paid almost $1100 (including buyer's premium and taxes), about one-third of the new price. Looks to be in perfect order with everything there. Thanks earthworks. I don't beleive these are aftermarket parts. Used John Deere. Probably the holes and pin sizes are the most important thing to check if only putting on snow blower correct?

Anyone have experience setting up tall tubular concrete forms a.k.a. Sonotubes? These have to be 10-12" diameter and 8-12' tall sitting on a 24" sq. continuous perimeter footer. They will be holding up a 40,000lb. home plus contents and wind rated for 150mph wind. There can be as many as 26 per home.<br>

I know how to do the footers. I can lift the forms. I need info on the best way to align them (plumb) and keep from falling over (bracing). I've heard some horror stories of vibrators nicking the inside of the tube while concrete was pumped in them and blowing out, so I'm not convinced two guys can do this job. <br>

Tony, good to hear you're getting the biz off the ground. I know we talked about before, but something to think about: If you need work during hurricane season (wherever it happens to hit) there's a lot of work to be had from general truck repairs, to tractor and skid steer repairs. More importantly there is a huge demand in the first few months for guys who can fabricate metal sides for trailers and dump trucks---even turning top-hinge tailgates into drop down floors that extend the bed---and you have to make barndoor style rear doors or gates. I've seen 20 yard dump trucks turn into 63 yard trucks overnite. Or a 3,500lb utility trailer turn into a 35 yarder (they don't enforce the DOT regs most times--if the tires hold air and the axles don't break---pull it. Also a biggie is general welding (portable or not) on anything---it's amazing what and how much stuff gets broken in the process of picking up debris. Big truck tire repair/sales and medium duty tire repair/sales, along with skid steer tire repair/sales are others. If your'e interested this or any other hurricane season keep in touch. A place to stay is usually easy to find---entire shopping centers and state and private camp gounds turned into camp sites or base operation camps for trucking/debris haulers. I stayed in a used car parking lot for over 6 mos. Not glamorous, but it paid the bills.

Harvey--clarification:

If you remove the steer axle then you really don't have a 6x6 (it's a tandem axle right?)---you have a semi-self-propelled trailer "steered" by the tractor, right?

The biggest problems I see are 1.) If you remove the ballast weight of the cab etc. there's a greater chance to either overturn the rig (front to back and side to side)and what it's attached to--you lose a tremendous amount of stability removing the front axle.

And the bigger problem: Matching ground speed perfectly between the tow vehicle and the trailer. Otherwise, whichever has the most traction will take over, and that could be disasterous going down hill if the trailer is pushing the tractor--it WILL jacknife. Uphill the tractor will tend to slide to whichever side of the road is lower or looser--like being on ice. Minimally, you will spin tires--which equates to lost traction on loose dirt. OR bind up AND break something in the driveline due to driveline buildup.

If money isn't a big deal, sell the dump and buy a newer military dump a true 6x6--they can be had for about $10,000. Or find a 6wd chassis cab from a wrecked utility truck or concrete truck and swap the dump bed.

Or just buy a 6wd dump.

The whole exercise seems like a big job from any angle. And what will it be worth when you're done? Hint the new "owner" will be paying by the pound. :)

I check in every once in a while to see how you guys are doing. I really do hope the missing gentlemen will come back. This site is a lot different from others - it works best when the threads have a free flow. The only problems arise when people without any sense of humor get off on the tangent and stomp their opponents into dirt with longwinded posts. Maybe there should be a special fee on posts over 1 page long...<br>

Just wondering here. I was looking at electric space heaters yesterday. They have them that look like radiators that are OIL filled. Have no ide about the type of oil used or if there is an oil that would be suitable or legal for your system. But, it would seem to solve the need to replace it, dogs drinking it, rusting the system or ph changing. But if worried about it being drunk, use Mineral Oil. ;-) That will straighten them out.

KW, Thank you for the response with the suggestions on curing my problem, Murf E-mailed me too amd said the profile came up fine. First of all I must again confess of my lack of computer skills. No. 3 son is coming by this weekend to help me pick out a new laptop. Other friends with whom I E-mail on a regular basis have called wondering why I don't answer, I never got them. So soon as No. 3 gets me fixed up I'll let him read your suggestions. Thanks again, I sure do miss not being able to post. Frank. P.S. The wireless did'nt work out. The man from their company came to the house, climbed on the roof with a gizmo of some kind and said he could find two of their antennas but neither had a strong enough signal to be satisfactory.
