I ended up buying an 07 SR5 4L V6 Automatic Tacoma. It's pretty nice but Toyota has taken some dumb shortcuts. It's still the best "compact" truck on the market IMO. Averaging about 19.5 MPG the first two tanks and about 40% of that time was in 4WD so I'm pretty happy.

Looked under the trailer and the stringers are 3" c-channel. The perimeter frame is 6" c-channel. Seems pretty stout, but I'll check with the manufacturer. Thanks for the tip.

As I'm reading the replies I couldn't help but chuckle to myself that once upon a time I used to take care of my tools. I mean, I've been a contractor for the past 8 years. I used to buy the top-of-the-line stuff. Then I realized that theives like the same high-quality stuff too! Whodathunk? So after having about $30,000-$40,000 in tools stolen I buy the cheapest (but most reliable) stuff I can. I found theives won't steal Ryobi stuff or Black and Decker or even some Craftsman. So guess what I buy?

And what's funnier if I were to show up on a job where the tools looked good, they'd think I never used them. Perception is everything?

Recently I had a young contractor tell me that I should not have a nice looking truck with new-looking (they're 4 years old) signage on it because it looks like I went out and just started the biz recently and nobody will trust me! (His truck is 10 years old and beat up so maybe he's jealous??)

I purchased my 274 lenar 2003 model new with a loader. The only problem I have had was a seal leaking in the hydraulic system. Fixed it and havn't had any problems only normal maintenance batteries and such. I brushog, use a box blade, disc my garden and use my loader the most. I met the local distributor and he has been great with any questions I come up with and he will work on it if necessary. I plan on buying a finish mower in the spring. I live in southeast Oklahoma and have put it in some tight places. I guess I got a good one. Everyone here who has bought from these guys have had good results. Before buying me and a few friends tested the tractor for strentgh and whether it would hold up. The price was over half the cost of a kubota and kioti, bransons and other tractors I looked at. First, engage the mid pto knob, then flip the same switch you use for the rear pto. That engages the clutch. Do not turn on pto switch first or you will get lots of grinding. The knob engages the gear and then the switch engages the clutch. You also need to be sitting in the seat.

All BS aside ask him what the out the door dilivered price is. Take $1000 off of that and see if he jumps. If you realy want the tractor that is a good starting place. Make him think you will walk, you can always kiss up later. I am with RR, and EW I smell a rat.

EW; I remember my Dad using oat straw for mulch after the garden plants got taller than a bale slab was thick. He of course had to hoe till the things got that big. He never tore the bale slabs apart, he just laid them side by side, end to end like you were laying bricks in a street. That was a long time ago but as I remember it worked quite well. An aunt of mine used to spread news papere a few layers deep then put just enough soil on them to keep them from blowing away, that did'nt seem to work very good, the paper got tore and the weeds came anyway. Frank.

You won't need to do a loader swap, the parts to make it a 200CX will only set you/him back a couple hundred.

I bought my Agracat from a guy in the TC but live in Western WI, just east of Hudson. I have a deisel mechanic do all my work, he's good, reasonable, and lives on a farm (which helps). Check the out lying areas for a mechanic that works on farm equipment, these are basic machines so most diesel mechanics should be able to. I think there is a guy in Beldenville, WI that also works on them but I don't name or number.

For small bumps, and gravel, the now infamous "Murphy Pipe" works well too.... :)

It also allows you to ballast the blade and not dig

BTW, a rear blade turned around, but with a rod mounted on the crossbar of the frame with a couple of barbell plates slipped over them makes a big diference too. It stops the blade rising up onto the snow as much.

In answer to your question, it has been my experience that pretty much any tire on a tractor that is less than 6 ply is prone to punctures. Sometimes even the 8 and 10 ply tires has some mishaps. I had this problem with my ATV's on the ranch being that they came with OEM 2 ply tires. My neighbor got a puncture in the front tire of his John Deere 5420 and had a similar issue. <br>

I talked to the guys at my local Coop who mount and repair tractor tires and they swear by a product call TRC Tire Seal. They charge about 38 cents per ounce to fill tire with it and say they have never had a come back. I purchased a 6 gallon pail for $105 and the pump kit costs about $75. The pump kit is DEFINITELY worth it due to the large volumes of tire seal tractro tires take. I filled all of my ATV tires and my neighbors tractor tire and all have retained pressure and not a single flat since. I abuse the heck out of my ATV tires and my neighbor does too. <br>

On the subject of tires for use with a FEL. Your 4 ply turfs are just not going to work well if at all depending upon how much weight you pickup. You will need to upgrade to at least a 6 ply and I would recommend an 8 ply or better tire. The tire casings and side walls are MUCH stronger and resistant to punctures as well.

$Murf: That sounds like it would be helpful, I am gonna look into that. Ken: Yes I had the maximum slack in the stabilizers, I fiddled with everything, it was just the smallest fraction of an inch off getting the second pin on. It was so baffling because it has always been so darn simple that I have in the past hooked it only to move it a couple of feet in the garage and unhook it a minute later and then redo it 30 minutes later. I am convinced that having the blade backwards must of had something to do with it making the height with the support rod inappropriate. Murf's suggestion would have helped. I am still cleaning out the cracks in my fingers from the install so I won't prove out this theory until I take the blade off in the spring ;) Dennis$ 3PH attachment easy or tough

Also, bear in mind, when you move the bucket like that, you are seeing all the slop of EVERY joint together, not just the one.

We bend Lexan at our shop frequently using a brake. You don't need to heat it if you are doing a 45 or 90 degree bend. When room temperature you only get one shot at it and need to slightly go beyond the angle since it has some springback. You can't roll it to make a curved surface or bend a large radius in it at the bend. Sometimes it does break for no apparent reason. Heat may help you do some more exotic bends, etc. - haven't tried it myself.

Yes it is soft. Lexan like Plexiglass are tradenames. Lexan is commonly the material used on Bug Shields and have lots of give and flex capabilities even in a broad temperature range. You do need to smooth all corners and edges to avoid a place for a crack to start.
