earthwrks, Farmtrac used to build Ford tractors, that is a fact. The models built in India continue to resemble the Ford models. The compact models are built in South Korea by LS, (formerly LG), which has also had tie-ups with Fiat/New Holland over the years. The former Long LandTrac was built by LS/LG, and LS builds models for Montana and Tafe.

Farmtrac does build some models in Poland, but they are not available in North America.

The higher horsepower tractors are being built by Same.

They have to order a 35? The dealers I know just call up another dealer and make a deal or swap to get you what you want. They might be trying to get you to buy something off lot. I read somewhere here that the TC33/34/35 use the same motor so I'm not so sure there is big real-world difference in power to weight ratio when it comes to tractors, especially when talking hydrostatic drives. A lot has to with gearing or hydraulic advantage. (For example I have a manlift that weighs over 8,000 lb but is powered by a 20hp gas engine.)

The carpenter crew will finsh up their part today, the electrican/plumbing heating contractor said he would be here later today to plan the elctric system, heating and air conditioning. Before we started actual construction I invited as couple friends over that have been in the furniture and or machine shop business for as long as I have to offer any onsite adviuce. One gave some good advice far as welder smoke control, the other on the entry doors that I had'nt thought of. So all in all I'm real happy so far. I won't be able to be around there much for a week or so but have a firm experienced in moving heavy shop equipment to do that for me when the time comes for that. I'll keep you posted as major events happen. Keep warm. Frank.

I just got back from out there. Went up to Clearbrook, MN to pick up a piece of equipment and stopped in Mequon, WI for a crusher part.

I would not live in suburbia for all the money... out in the country many nice old farm steds. All kinds of old farm treasures in hedge rows. Great looking country, great people, they still wave when you drive by. I did go up to Richfield, WI that is also nice looking country.

I guess it depends on how far you are willing to comute.

4-5pm Milwaukee was a struggle in traffic. 6-7:30 pm the road into and out of Chicago was bumper to bumper 15 MPH. Now I know why IL has such strong anti gun laws. People would simply shoot themselves rather than fight that traffic every day.

Its got about 600hrs but its had an easy life, I just use a finish mower with it. The problem Im having is that the pto clutch want disengage all the way and its hard to get in gear. I dont have a book on it, when you had yours apart how did the pto clutch work and is there an adjustment.

One simple alternative to using toxic anti-freeze is to just replace it with something kids and animals aren't likely to mess with, no less toxic, just less tempting.

Probably the simplest is to use a methyl hydrate and water solution. If you can't be bothered to find it in the hardware store, just use windshield washer fluid, that's all it really is anyways.

It isn't as tempting since it doesn't have that 'sweet' smell or taste to it. It also isn't as bad on the environment when it gets flushed out in the spring.

If you look around you can usually find it in gallon jugs for not much money, especially in big truck supply places, it's used as anti-freeze in air brake systems to stop condensation from freezing them up in cold weather.

Frank is on the right track here.

Anyone who has ever spent any time on a farm, or around rubber-tired equipment is familiar with tires, bald to the cords in the center, but with hardly anywhere near that much wear at the shoulders.

If you lower the pressure on a radial to the recomended pressures for the given use, as Frank mentioned, they look like they're going flat, but the entire tread is contacting the ground.

Problem is with equipment that varies greatly in operating weight, proper pressure for the unit unladen is not right when it's loaded up. We have a big JCB FasTrac that is like this, we finally had to rig up an air line off the units air brake system to be able to adjust tire pressures in the field. This wouldn't be as big an issue with a CUT obviously though.

Well put! I wish that, for what would probably be a few dollars more at time of purchase, they would place beefier sidewall Turf style Tires on or at least give you the option.

It might be interesting to disconnect the temperature sending unit and see if the gauge stays where it is or drops to zero. If it drops to zero my guess would be a bad sending unit. Or maybe the wire to the sending unit is shorted to ground.

I have rebuilt the clutch in my b 7200 I got a new clutch fork. The old one has a off set from the c line of the shaft it mounts on a little foward of backward depending on which way it is mounted. The Kubota manual says watch the way or direction it is mounted when you take it out. <br>
The new fork is almost straight with the shaft mount and seems to have a very small set if any. Does anyone know which way the off set goes or if there is a off seton the fork.

The 2305 is about as small as compact's get and still have the front and rear PTO, a limited Cat, 1 three point hitch and the ability to handle a loader of enough size to make it more useable. There likely are other brands of CUT's out there that are maybe a bit smaller, I'm not sure. The Deere specs. show a weight of 1450 lbs. Some of the bigger lawn tractors probably come within a couple hundred pounds of the 2305, plus then you're limited to a really tiny loader that likely costs nearly as much as one for the 2305. A large lawn tractor likely would'nt cost enough less to be a real issue. If you get one with R-4 or turf tires you won't be able to see a track in the lawn unless it has rained a bunch. I often use my 4310 with R-4's on the lawn, it weighs twice as much as the 2305 and in normal cnditions you'd have a hard timee finding a track I demoed a 4100 when they first came out, they were pretty similar to the 2305 several years ago, and I don't think you would want a CUT with much less horsepower. Come trade in time or wanting to sell it someday I think a small CUT would sell easier than a large lawn tractor. Just my thoughts Frank.

My active tractors right now include a Farmall Super C, Massey 135, and the NH TC29, as well as my Farmall A.

The 135 gets used mostly for bush hogging at the farm.

The Super C does my spring plowing, some pushing of rocks and brush with a box blade, and some bush hogging.

The TC29 gets the most hours; it does all of my finish mowing and tilling, 90% of my firewood hauling, and occasional use with the 3ph backhoe, box blade and dirt scoop.

The FAA is relegated to pulling a trailer, since it doesn't have hydraulics or a lift.

Any of them may be used to pull logs off the log pile. Usually the Super C because it is outside and easiest to get to.

My Super C is the favorite. Not as user-friendly as the little NH, but there is something special about it.

Cutter at the risk of beating that horse, try or think of this anology:

NOTE: For purposes of this discussion "stability" will be with regard to side-to-side stabilty where it it most discernable (which is really a function of the rear axle width or "wheel track"). Front-to-back stability is one of the functions of the distance between the front and rear axles and the relation of the distance to the loader load to the front axle (leverage is one result of these)

Park a tractor with a FEL on level ground with the loader up. Get off it, and shake it side to side as much as you can, observing the relative movement beween the front axle and the tractor itself, and and record the results in your memory. (Aside from the tires giving there will have been very little play since the rear wheels are providing the stability, and that's where/what the loader is connected to, not the front axle). Also note that the front wheels do not exhibit the same flexing as the rears other than a minor vibration from the whole tractor wobbling.

Next, jack up the front end with only ONE jack (which will serve as the pivot of the soon-to-be-former front axle) and remove the front axle center pivot pin leaving the front axle right there but not part of the tractor.

Repeat the shaking procedure as above and record the results.

Compare the results and they will be identical. And that is because the front axle is a pivoting member.

Clear as mud?

Now, either with the front axle reinstalled or not---doesn't matter, I will attempt to demonstrate more stability not related or dependent on or to the width of the front axle:

Puncture or otherwise rapidly deflate a front tire. Nothing will happen other than it dropping the tractor to the ground. Sahke the tracotr and the stabily has not been reduced. Even do the same to the other front wheel and the same thing---nothing---will happen to the stability.

Now let's induce some big time INstability which is what you are talking about:

Simply puncture a rear tire and you might even get the loader to overturn.

And this is why loaders on tractors---including backhoes-- are not the ideal setup for grading or construction work: the loader get's it's stability from the rear not the front; look at any modern machine with a purpose-built loader like a front end loader and you'll see that the loader is indirectly connected to the front axle and the rear is allowed to float.

Thanks Art, you were a lot of the reason I bought a Kubota and I am very happy with it. I happened to get to know the Product Manager for the compact tractors and he even had his engineering people produce a new procedure to put the bagger on and off. It helps, I would just think they would like to tell the world they are as good as the green machine or better.
