About the time of "2003" we started changing over to the dreaded "Chineese castings" Beefing them up 50% would still be a gamble. Some of em you can just look at and they crumble. I am told though that some day soon they will get it right? Hmmm That was 2 years ago still.

Murf: I kind of do the same as you with the blocks under the edge of the rotary mower decks, etc. only I use some 6X6 pole barn cut offs about a foot long. Not to be a smart A-- or anything but how do you wrestle 12X12X18 cresote blocks around, do you have a resident Gorilla? Frank.

Yoper; The original "M" Farmalls were rated at about 39 PTO horsepower With a 3-7/8 th. bore, the Super M's and the 400's were rated at 51 with a 4 in. bore. " Fire Crater" pistons were a popular thing, the increased the bore to 4-1/8 and raised the compression ratio a bit. The 400 my Dad had ran about 58 horse on the dino with "Fire Craters'. Frank.

Kenny I know engineers in the automotive field don't do a lot of math. The misconception is engineers design the stuff you sue. Not so. A designer designs it, someone builds it and then maybe an engineer gets involved. I call it trial-and-error. I've been on both sides of the fence engineering-wise and 99% is left up to the testing department which typically are not professional engineers in the purest sense--typically they are on their way to being an engineeer or a highly qualified technician. The warranty departments are the result of when real-world testing fails. For example I had a former collegue who went to work for Ford. He got paid to go to the Arizona test flats to do forward-to-reverse slams to test durability. That said design and testing has come into it's own where they are actually simulating driving cars into barriers on computer. They do this many thousands of times on the tube but the Gov. still requires they do a reduced number to prove their theories. Each copy of a pre-production car can cost half to a million per car.

Anyone can call themselves an engineer--I was 18 when I had my first title as "Chief Product Design Engineer" for a Harley-Davidson parts supplier. The owner would joke that "he gave me a title in lieu of a raise"-- and boy was that true!

Hey Ken, I realize Dennis did your avatar for you, but what is the connection to the coast or to you? I see that same logo in various sizes and colors around here. To me it remembles a Moslem or Arabic`symbol.

We've had the problem with all manufacturers for years with the problem. The best fix we've found to ddate is fill it with grease before attaching.

Well, I ended up getting a new L3430 HST with Ag tires, 723 loader with HD bucket, Land Pride RDR1872 (6') rotary cutter, King Kutter BB-72 box blade, a tooth bar, and a cutting edge for under $21,000. Delivery from KY to lower Alabama was addtl $500. <br>

It was just delivered 2 days ago, only a week after I got back from overseas. The best my local dealer could do was almost $2000 over the price of the KY dealer. Of course, there was no delivery charge, but net saved was almost $1500.<br>

Oh, forgot to mention: the dealer threw in quick attach at no extra charge.

I would use screws. Finished my 24' by 30' decl last year. 3 screws with pilot holes every 16". That was a lot of drill time. I used the ones from Lowes that are coated tan. Supposed to be that special coating (I am no expert). So far so good.

Wing is on the right track about stone and freezing. You'll be kicking yourself come spring raking it back if you don't keep a frozen layer of snow or ice over the stone. I would do my buddy's 1000 ft private road and by his house with a plow truck. He was happy in the winter but come spring I was the unhappy one when I had to spend hours brooming and raking stone back on the driveway (he lets me use his property for mainatining his place). If you use a FEL to make the first pass roll the bucket all the way forward. That will minimize stone collecting in the bucket and make a layer to freeze. But if you go backward (backdrag), roll the bucket the other way otherwise you'll be dragging stone and make a mess.

also check the top bolts on the bellhousing. They are under the fuel tank behind the tank mount. It they happen to work loose it affects the clutch. They go throught the mounting plate and in to the back of the motor.
If you looik under the tractor there should be a cut out that you can see how you relase shaft is moving check that the little returen spring is good Make sure you grease gun the zert so that assembly slides easy Also get in the habit of putting the tractor in 1 gear then moving to the higher gears till you get it figured out

You might check the side and back. Some of the seats have a bolt that goes in a hole and through a positioner. It may have some back adjustment. but you have to take the bolt out move the back back and put the bolt back in

I have a 3520 w/cab 300 cx loader 4n1 bucket and front blade but not hyd.I have not been able to use mine in snow yet but i do love it. My loader makes a lot of noise when using it and is a little slow.............does yours seem to be this way?

Art: Why do you think it is that Woods dosn't have the support it should? Aren't they a supplier to the OEM's like New Holland (I'm thinking the backhoes for skid steers)?
