No chemicals.....hmmmmmm. That sorta limits your selection of lime and fertilizers too, doesn't it? By that I mean, a strict "no chemicals" policy takes all inorganic fertilizers and pelletized ag lime off the list.<br>

So that makes me curious. What is your position on chopping up approximately 150,000 earthworms per acre?<br>

On my B1550 the little springs and balls are behind the hex head bolts on each side of the alloy end caps at the bottom of the main valve body. But its best to remove the end cap completely and have a good look and give it a clean. Its an easy job... just remove the 2 allen head screws. In my case the detent groove was worn beyond repair so replacing the springs and balls would have been pointless. So I just live with having no detent for the float. One more thing .. Over time the alloy end caps can become distorted and throw the valve centering out of whack resulting in a droopy bucket. It can be an easy fix by a dropping a suitable washer (shim) into the bottom of the end cap.

The problem turned out to be a filthy, clogged wire mesh screen where the oil is sucked to the HST from the sump. Probably never cleaned because the backhoe subframe made removal of the screen difficult. I also cleaned the strainer that feeds the loader oil pump by blasting air back down the power steering tube. I couldnt remove that strainer because the loader subframe is in the way. But ultimately it was a nice cheap 'repair'. Its a completely different tractor now. Thanks for your help. David

I forgot to mention on Wednesday my movers cut out early to beat the snow the Des Moines TV stations were going Ape-Shlitz about. We never got a a single snow flake out that. There are wars and such going on all over the place. They at least could not blow it out of proportion. But then what else would they do or say?

Never owned one or used one. I have been around a lot of them for some reason Bush Hog is the brand of choice. Even if it is another brand, they always have to get the bush hog to knock down the fire lane. My two cents what ever it maybe worth.

2.7 acres for an L. That is a lot of tractor for a little piece of property. I have 2 acres and a bx1500. My primary use is mowing most of the year, however I am currenlty grading about 1/4 acre of scrub and ticket that I have used the tractor to reclaim. I would think that once you are done with the heavy stuff, a BX24 with backhoe would be a great choice. It would allow something light enough to mow well, and versitle enought to till small gardens and dig holes for trees. I would hire a dozer for a few days to push over all the trees and use the tractor for clean up.

So sez the rumor.

When I was doing Dialysis tech work in SoCal the water there was about the same general quality as my present well water.

With the RO technology 30 years ago I was able to produce water for the dialysis machines that was about 130 PPM of dissolved solids, and I thought I was doing well.

Then I moved to Anchorage and was amazed to find the deep wells that supplied the city back then produced water even cleaner than the the RO product in California. As I recall the tap water was 90 PPM or less.

All that to say this: In the grand scheme the difference in purity between 10 PPM and 90 PPM is insignificant. Yet no one living in Anchorage at that time or in the previous 60 years, had suffered any ill effects from drinking such pure water.

Your blood serum and interstitial body fluids have about the same salinity as sea water. Any level of fresh water introduced into the system would be considered to be a diluting factor by comparison.

The kidneys sense the required levels of minerals needed in the body and conserve vital elements when they run low, and they remove excesses when there is an overload.

Still the double nut. They are set when new for the restriction of new part which when worn smooth with use will allow it move to easily.

Thats a good idea! I didn't realize PA had done that. For the folks that come to central NY from the other areas a good brown cow will do without the rack. Seen it at the butcher shop! To many people shoot the spike horn not giving them a chance to build a good rack. In our area deer season is nearly all year long for some.

Ask the dealer to very carefully define "hard" for you. I have people lined up to buy my machines when they're being replaced. They now go 2 years and get about 3,000 hours in that time. If it was a nursery or similar, don't touch it.

i went back and reread all the posts and thought i would jump in. I have fixed all my problems with my 91, 250, the oil pressure guage was bad, and the wiring was replaced and now i wouldn' trade it for anything. it runs great and the most fuel conservative tractor i have ever seen. i have a 14 gal tank and can use it all day pulling an 8 ft gobal disk and still 1/4 tank at the end of the day. i did take all the gee-haws off it. like turn signals, horn, dimmer swithch, and left just the necessary things. i love it and would not trade it for a new one. i paid 1900.00 for it a year ago.

Thanks for your reply. I'm reasonably certain that the gauge, lines, etc. are ok. I actually installed the gauge to confirm what the low oil pressure light was telling me. The two seem to agree--when the light comes on, the gauge is reading 5 psi or less. I appreciate your input.
