I used to have the lowest cost sharpening service known, FREE. My father in law was an independent garage owner from the time he was a teen ager till he was forced to retire with bad feet in his mid 50's. Never being a man to sit still or non productive he bought a chainsaw sharpening device that looked like a miter saw. as he moved the chain along in the clamp the sharpener would rotate from left to right so it could sharpen right hand and left hand teeth by only pulling the chain thru once. I don;'t remember what he charged to do a chain or overhaul a saw. He must have had a dozen or so to sharpen most days, people started giving him old saws they had given up on and he made most of them run again. It kind of got to be a social gathering point for the town loafers, they would bring one chain at a time just to catch up on the news. He's now in a nursing home, but that little sharpening business was on of the joys of his life for a good many years. I have no idea what brand of sharpener he had or where it ever went. Frank.

I had signed up with farmtrac back in april. One reason, the sales rep is a friend of mine. Another reason is they took over an Italian line of tractors that I had sold, third reason is the have all of the Kioti filters, and some other Kioti parts also. At least I can take care of most of my customers needs.
I had Blue valley eq. come up and look at my Kioti tractors when they were discussing delling them. I am an honest person, so I told the they were a great tractor, BUT, they would get no help from Kioti, I mean no help! The other reasons are too many to delve into here. Needless to say, they didn't listen. Men don't normally listen to other men, one of our faults I guess. They went into it whole hog for a few years, and one day, I called to discuss a problem with Kioti, and they said that they gave up and parked them all on the back of the lot. I have since learned that they will be selling Montana tractors. More to come later I'm sure. Thanks for listening.

I don't have a lot of problems with my JD or MF either, but try to help others when I can. It takes a little time and sometimes I can not answer the question, but try to keep the threads a live for others like Art, Chief, Oneace or Murf who can.

I have a L2850 and have a clutch question. Although the clutch appears to work fine, it does not grab until the pedal is almost completely released. When I watch the clutch shaft there appears to be almost no movement by eye. It makes no sense how it even works. I adjusted the arm to push more, however I really do not see much movement of the arm, but the clutch seems to work. I do know the PTO does not stop until the clutch pedal is all the way down, but with the clutch just depressed have way the transmission can be shifted. Is this normal? Am I missing something? <br>

How would the BC be on slope? Do they make traing wheels for them or some type of outriggers to help stabilize them on a steep grade? A dumb question I know, but they look narrow and would be tippy side to side.

Sounds like either the detent spring broke, or lost it's tension.

The float position is usually created by means of a spring-loaded ball bearing dropping into a shallow depression, this causes just enough tension to hold the valve open. If the spring loses tension, it will not hold.

Talk to your dealer's service department, it is usually a simple matter to replace the spring yourself.

1) a list of the type manuals (owner, repair, etc.) you have available
2) price for each manual
3) language the manual is written in and,
4) relevance to the N189D tractor (is it written specifically for the 189, or for various models, of which the 189 is a member of the group)

Sorry to hear about the bad experience you are going through. Hopfully you will get through these problems and repair the tractor and have a good machine from there on out. In the mean time you might try Tractor Smart for parts and advice. I bought all of my Kubota parts from them when I had my Kubota L245. Ronne Bowman was VERY helpful with sharing his advice and answering questions. Good luck and hope you get things fixed right.

The trailer had an ATV, the 6ft straight blade, the 60" tiller in the loader bucket and the box blade on the tractor. All fit and all made it ok. I lost lots of time since the brand new trailer didn't have enough grease in the wheel bearings. So one axle was running blazing hot. I found this out after my first stop after 80 miles.

I must have pumped over one tube of grease (I used 3 guns, 2 borrowed and I finally bought 1) into the 4 bearings. It finally cooled down. But I lost gobs of time.

curley Kubota did have a system for those tractors and I know at the time 1500 sticks in my mind as an approximate price in the late 80's I believe installed although we never did put any in and from what other dealers stated it didn't help much.

Tony---you have been picking my brain long-distance I see. The template idea is one I have been thinking about which is basically the rail system I mentioned before. I thouight about pinning it to the ground too but they sometimes use sand here to build up the pad area so pinning won't work; it might work in clay though. The template could be light-weight too versus heavy (read: e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e). Somewhere someone has come up with an easy solution to this. Also the timbers can vary as much as 3/4" over or under size

I talked with Mr. Borgford a couple of times and sent him The addresses of all the dealers in Billings. but didn't here back from him.and I found a couple of other mfg. that knew the story or at least knew of the split-up. Any way I am happy with my AnBo and it was Custom built foe me and modified to my requirements. My Kubota Dealer brought 2 of them into town for me to try out and I didn't buy either of them, I even bent one ( the 5 ft Grl (Light Duty one)and he had to get it straightened at a machine shop.How's that for a Dealer??.I ordered another with heavy 3/4 in on the outside teeth and 5/8 on the inside teeth with 8 inch spacing. The tank on my NT254 worked loose. I tightened the straps up and it has not given anymore trouble. I did have to let it seek it's own spot by wiggling it around as I tightened the straps. It don't set exactly square with the base but it is snugged down now and has not worked loose. That was over 100hrs ago.

Thanks for the info. I contacted Lincoln to ask about Century. It may be the same as Twentieth Century Mfg. as they may have changed the company name around after mine was made.

Speaking of the south and deep frying, some friends down he-ah deep fried a turkey AND dinner rolls to boot. Surprising they tasted good and were very lite--well almost. They tasted like an unglazed doughnut. And they deep fry sliced pickles (very salty) and Snickers bars he-ah too. And Twinkies. Who'dathunk? I wonder if there's any connection to the obesity problem that's in the news he-ah.
