I understand. I have seen what the MBA marketing types have done to a lot of businesses in the country. I believe they are all interested in the numbers not the customer or building long term relationships. They probably have a new dealer lined up in the area with no tractor experience and promising the world.

EW; I had to think about this for a minute, make that a couple of days. The rust is growing with age.

There is a european system that uses a smaller metal pilon. After it is driven into the ground you twist the top and spikes push out to increase the surface area on the bottom. I believe there is also a leveling system for the mounts so you plumb it after it is in place.

A friend of mine in CA is developing a modular metal house design and uses these for the foundations pilars. If you are interested I many be able to find the information or put you in touch with him. He is looking to rebuild with his system in MS and LA.

Art is it a viscous coupling system or a continuously variable system like the newer transmissions. My only experience with owning a AWD was an old Jeep full size Cherokee,74. It used an expensive system like the Range Rovers which is a linked chain that moves like the newer continuously variable transmissions from what I know. For the era the system was quite economical as with a 360 ci I got about 16 mpg.<br>

What I read there are 2 different systems on the Subaru. <br>

Active AWD: Subaru's automatic transmission use Active AWD, mostly front wheel drive and uses traction sensing computer input to electronically vary the front to rear power split via a hydraulic multi-plate transfer clutch.<br>

VTD AWD (variable torque distribution). New in 2001, VTD transfers powers front to back electronically. The power split is 45/55 front/rear and the rear wheel bias is designed for a more luxury car feel as opposed to the front bias of the Active AWD system. Usually 45/55 front to back split but that varies according to wheel slippage.<br>

My guess is the system in this Forester is the first one an there is slack in the drive train or mechanical or electronic problem with the rate of engagement. Did you check is there were any recalls on this model? It might be as simple as reflashing the control memory. I found a site once that you placed model numbers and VIN in and told you all the recalls on the vehicle. I will see if I can find it again.<br>

Murf, I just wanted to know if it was the same as mine. I too am happy with the way it works, I had mine modified to the Quick attach carrier, I have Forks,Bucket, BrushBrute,Grapple Rake all Quick attach and My MCMillan Auger just pins onto mount on back of Bucket. really works nice.Hope you get some good eating. Ron

Its s 89 with 318 727 trans 241 t-case with a dana 44 deitroit true trax over sized u joints Warn lock outs.
Rear axle is a 9 25 with detroit locker disc brake coversoin .
I need to get probly 4.56 gear for it right now it has 3.20 gears 33 inch tires :( no fun next set of projects along with gears is crossover steering, offroad flat bed ,
-SNORKLE- and right now Iam talking to a guy about doing a deisel swap:) off course MONEY is the root off all evel or the lack of doing/completeing projects;)

One ongoing question about all the wireless gadgets is that there's a chance all the extra RF radiation exposure may have a detrimental effect on health. Maybe, maybe not, but I can't see using it for things that don't require it and increasing exposure more than necessary.

I built a shop with steel roofing about 5 years ago. Currently the roof is open but the shop walls are solid with little air movement below the roof and with concrete floor. If there is any condensation in my shop it is very seldom and very little. Now, the sheds on the side with dirt floors and wide open, grab rain coat at times.

As to steel holding in high winds, old galv. roofing nailed on here has held up to many a hurricane over the years. If you have every thing underneath nailed properly it is seldom you see a loose sheet.

Ron, I think you are correct on what you have said about Ondura. My understanding it is a multi layered paper product. They did have vented and non vented product to seal the ends.

On the newer models for 06 they have a disconnect for the hydro that eliminates the problem by releasing the pressure against the hydro. It does work! I'd be adding it to all older models if this is a consistant problem.

The safest way to do it, is to make yourself up a logging arch.

Basically a two-wheeled jeep or dolly converter if you know what that is. Except in this case it is a very high upside-down U-shape. Mount the winch on top of the arch and pull the log like a trailer. That way you can pull it from the drawbar not the 3 pth.

This will dramatically lower the risk of a roll-over if the log is to heavy, or snags on something.

For over a year now Kubota has had a control to release the pressure from the hydro's as standard equipment. You might want to add this feature to yours.

If I remember right they were not that heavy. I am sure it changed the center of gravity some but not so much that I ever noticed. I probably took it on a steeper hill side than most operators ever would. And yest EW I no you are not most operators.
