hardwwod: You make a good distinction; are we off the tractor while it's running and the parking brake isn't set(which is the same as the service brakes)? My blue's seat interlock and parking brake interlock stopped working on their own long ago, so yes, I can get off mine while running on a slope or not--for mine it's a matter where exactly the hydro pedal is: a little forward or backward to put a little pressure on the system, sort of like going up hill in an automatic trans at a stop light and giving it a little gas to hold it there without using the brakes.

As far as holding there with the engine off, no typically they will not hold there due to lea-down around the individual pistons both in the pump and the motor which are about the size of your litle finger.

However, 2005 NH skid steer is a hydrostatic in the purest sense in that the motors are semi-directly connected to the drive wheels and not through a gear transmission. The skid steers prior to this one used to creep whether running or off on a incline if the parking brake wasn't set. My model has a "spring-activated / hydraulically released" parking brake that uses a disc brake on each drive motor. It sets automatically when you shut of the engine or get out of the seat. To deavivate just get i and hit a release button. Oh yeah, and the hydraulic functions to the loader are also locked out while the brakes are on.

My sense it's only a matter time until you see these type of systems on tractors. The law refers to it as state-of- the-art that if a mfg. has a safety system on one line or product and they all don't have it, or you as a competing mfg. don't have it on your products (to some degree or in principle) you are setting yourself up for a product liability and/or personal injury lawsuit.

My neighbor recently had the Sopranos show leave a note in his mailbox asking for permission to use his house for a show. They were going to make some changes to the place which would be paid for by the show. Unfortunately he was on vacation. The town I grew up in around here was all Italian. Everyone's name ended in a vowel. Cement shoes are second nature. Everyone gets fitted for them. PTO wood chippers were always highly regarded.

Well, there was a chance I got my info wrong since it's been a few years since I've done hands-on. But along with wracking the noggin' and some cursory investigation on the Web, the results were, well... mixed. Some sites didn't address rotating the yokes 90 degrees; some did. I looked at my Dodge Ram driveshaft and the yokes were aligned--but that doesn't really mean much since having the driveshaft in near perfect alignment the driveline path is aligned straight through from the transfercase through to the axle. Having lifted four offroad Jeeps over the years 10-12" I stand by my earlier comments as having to out-of-phase or rotating the yokes 90 degrees to cancel vibration.

I sold my Super 55 gas for $850, but Iowafun's was a cream puff compared to mine. The list is too long to go into here, but it ran and the brakes were good.

Glad to know you found the source of the problem. The gage on my 4310 sticks. But it's the float rod that sticks when I run the fuel down to 1/4 indicated or less or go on a hill. The last time I just reached in there with a clean metal rod bent with a hook and popped it loose. Then I filled the tank.

My wife works for Deere so she checked the warranty data on the 4310 and found the fuel tank level sensor device thingy was one of the most common problems on the 4310.

Murf touched on it. The beds of U-haul car haulers are not tailored for anything than for what they're designed for as the floors are basically ramps or guides for the tires and the floors are open. Then there's the tie- or hold-down issue--they're designed for integrated strap-type wheel hold downs. Then there's licensing (possibly), like on wreckers/recovery trucks (rollbacks especially) used for hauling equipment or anything but a vehicle for money, they require special---and very expensive--license plates called "apportioned plates". Then there's insurance; a vehicle on the trailer may have a different legal standing (insured or otherwise) if it came off the trailer and killed someone or caused property damage. At least in Michigan, a piece of farm equipment or construction equipment can be on the road and not be insured and cause damage (I know---I was on a 4-lane highway and hit by a roadworker's backhoe going the wrong way while I was waiting to make a turn around). So if your uninsured tractor came off and hit someone---because it shouldn't have been on the "car hauler", U-haul may be on the hook.

The TZ units are completely assembled in Japan where they are tested before being partly disassembled for shipment to the staging area located in Dublin, GA where they are stored until delivery to the dealer.

The dealer is responsible for reassembling the tractor and checking for any defects (shipping or other). Once the unit has been sold the dealer should performing Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) before delivering the unit to the customer.

Regardless of where the over spray came from the dealer should have found and properly fixed the issue before delivery however, like someone else pointed out a dealership is only as good as it�s employee�s.

Although it is rated for only 2" material my Brown 460, powered by 38 PTO hp, has continually cut for 7 years much heavier material. I would recommend the Brown 472, their 6 foot model. They have a of experience building heavy cutters including the well known and regarded Brown Tree Cutter.

There are many parts that would not be correct in size and might cause other damage. There are dealers that I know I priced against that deleted the cost of the three point hitch.

We buck stumps with an excavator equipped with a thumb too, but it weighs 40,000+ pounds.

My 20,000+ TLB will pull a 8" or 12" stump with relative ease but not nearly as fast as the excavator does.

But a 7,000 pound mini-ex.? It could do it in the right soil, but it wouldn't be any faster than a cut would.

For these 5" stumps, a 40hp CUT with the right attachment would have no problem, with several people, I would think speed would not be an issue.

The other advantage a wheeled machine would have in this case is travel speed. A mini-ex would leave piles every 20' or so in a chackerboard pattern based on it's swing reach. A CUT could carry them quickly out of the work area altogether.

Not unless you cut the belt in half and sew it back together! It is a pain to do but I never saw anyone replace the belt without draining coolant and removing hose.

Not Exactly sure what are you are talking about. So you took the entire upper 3pt cover off? Including the valve assy. If so you do not have it adjusted right. With out seeing how that model is laid out My suggestion would be to talk to your service manager at the dealer an see if he will photo copy the service manual of the section that out lines the adjustments needed.

Well, I did say partially.......

I did try CaCl in the Ag front tires of my Deere 4100 when I first got into tractoring. I think it added about 8 pounds to each wheel.

Hardly worth the effort.
