I second that post. The only reason to disconnect it is because you are to freaking LAZY to do thing the right way. In this case laziness can kill.

I think (based primarily on the complaints on this forum) that position control would be worthwhile.

I've now realized the grand Ls can be equipped with a midmount mower, and am contemplating them - haven't checked price yet. Anyone have an opinion on how they compare for mowing to the B3030? I love the idea of the towed finish deck, but thinking about my property I know the midmount will be a heck of a lot easier to deal with = otherwise I'll be crashing into stone walls and trees every time I turn my head..

This trailer was made by Millside Industries in Wallenstein, Ontario and sold by Northern. Unless they imported it from Ohio and slapped a "Made in Canada" sticker on it :) Millside may have copied the design or vice versa. It seems like a nice little trailer. The wood has pros and cons to it but it's easy to repair, replace and modify if the need arises.

Ken; Go to the weather channel site for your area and hit the month and then you can go back to last month on the top of the table.

My calculation say Anchorage is at average last month at least according to the weather channel data. 65 high and 52 low.

YellowKnife the high was normal at 69 degrees, but the lows were increased by 2 degrees. Whitehorse the high was greater by 3 degrees and the low was greater by 1.5.

An hour and a half is a long time for it to be heat related. The tractor is at operating temperature within 10 minutes, so that would be down the list a little first. With a diesel, if it is running too hot, you would probably know it.

I would stick with the fuel and shut-off solenoid first. One changing of the fuel filter isn't a sure thing. You may have to repeat the process. Also make sure fuel is getting to the filter. There could be a restiction at the tank.

The breather cap at the tank is another strong possibility. Once the vacuum formed in the tank, it would explain the 10 second run time. If the breather is blocked, that vaccum could take some time to form, then would restrict the fuel flow to the engine until the tractor sat long enough for the vacuum to leak off. Try running the tractor without the fuel fill cap on. Easy enough to test.

Denis: I see no problem with a literacy exam today for voting rights. You graduate high school, have a reading comprehension test and are given the right to vote. Theoretically everyone now has a chance to attend school. It might give them added incentives not to graduate people who can not read and for people to learn to read. The same thing should apply to citizenship.<br>
Naturally both would require that the US designate English (or some other language) as the official language, something that the legislative branch of the government has not gotten around to in the last 230 years.<br>
My point concerning MS was the white population could read and had schools. The black population could not and did not have the opportunity to schools. They had just been given their freedom. In the first election after the war the first black Congressmen were sent from MS. In Mississippi there were more slaves than white. The law was intent on having the black population remain subservient to the white. It is pretty hard to build schools for the people when you have no say in government.<br>
The heart of it is that the average white man in MS must have been able to read. It would have been extremely difficult to pass a law that excluded the bulk of the white population and the bulk of the black. Naturally this contrary to what the plane polisher thinks.

I went to Sears yesterday and checked out the more powerful jump starters. I was surprised at how much larger they were than the cheapy $50 mini-mites. I knew they were heavier - but didn't know about the size. We only have so much room on the boat. This makes me think Yooper is right - if I want more power just carry an extra battery around. Or as Murf says, maybe the cheapy mini-mite is good enough - it saved me once.

I have been on one web site, I think West Marine, where you can purchase a battery that doubles as a deep cycle and starting battery. I would definitely consider one of those in place of the dedicated boat battery I use now.

Wild horses (mustangs) are a very interesting and beautiful animal.

I'm originally from Owyhee County Idaho, just north a hundred miles or so from where Mark lives. I was raised on a cattle ranch and we used to "run" wild horses, catch them and cull the herds. Some of the nicer composition horses we kept, broke them and used them.....if they were young enough.

Many folks thought this to be cruel punishment to the horses to catch them and cull the herds.....that's why it is now outlawed. After the BLM would not allow us ranchers to cull the herds, they employed helicopters to do the same thing we did because certain parts of their range became over grazed and some of the mustangs were dying. The problem with the government is they always screw something up the private sector had long since figured out. When the government did the culling they culled just by numbers and the good stock was usually taken, leaving weaker, poorer genetics and the herds then really went down hill.

We always culled the weaker ones and left the good stock to keep the genetics strong. When we did it, it didn't cost the government anything. They tried to do it, screwed it up and costs them (us)millions. They adopted some of the wild mustangs out and that too ended up being a disaster because many folks that got the adopted mustangs, did not know how to take care of them and they suffered a slow, ugly death. Others sold them illegally causing even more problems.

The ranchers knew what they were doing because they had done this for many, many years. Mustangs made good work horses. We used several in our pack string for elk hunting. They were very sure footed, had very strong endurance, if not a bit head-strong at times.

Back before the BLM got involved (in the 60's and early 70's) the mustangs were truly wild animals where I lived. You could not get within a mile or so from them before they started moving out. We knew the country and would haze them into box canyons and such, rope them and load them into trucks. They were not much different than roping a mule deer (done that too). They were truly wild and beautiful animals. Another part of the West that has gradually changed.

The mustangs are still with us and in some parts of Southern Idaho, Northern Nevada and Eastern Oregon, which is all very remote, rugged, beautiful high country desert(up to 10,000 feet high)there are still a few remnants of theses herds that are still truly wild animals. There are also still a few honest to goodness cattle rancher left in this corner of the world and God Bless them. They know how to take care of the land (despite what the government would say), work incredibly hard and long hours and do the same thing ranchers did the same way, a hundred years ago. The term of endearment they use for each other is buckaroo. If someone were to say, "Now there's a good buckaroo, that was the best compliment a rancher could give or get. They're not a cowboy, they're a buckaroo.

I hope we never lose them....the mustangs or the buckaroos.

I have seen pine t&g that is ployied with the water base. It keeps it white looking and does not yellow it like the oil base poly. Me thinks it looks real nice, especially for a cieling since it would be bright. I love the cedar look though. BUT Damm clear cedar is spendy!. I figured that the hickory cabinets and maybe hickory flooring would look great with cedar half walls and ceilings.

The manual does not list any filter numbers. I was wondering if anyone might have a cross reference list of filter numbers for this model? I would like to change all the filters to establish a baseline for a routine maintenance schedule.<br>

There's been many a time at a customer's home that I have had small inquisitive children who all of a sudden end up--usually out of my direct sight--come dangerously close to my my equipment. Most paents have no clue thy need to keep the kids inside! So I tell the customer they are soley responsible for their kids, if, God forbid something happens. Some look dumbfounded like the kids would never do that, but once I give them examples, it puts the fear of God in them. Conversely, my adopted nieces who are now 6 and 10, when they were 2 and 6, used to wander too close to me working around their estate. I showed them the crushing power of the machines and they not only had instant respect for them but ended up (with parents' permission) operating the equipment (they impressed me so much I bought them a go-cart). With my assistance, both girls can drive the backhoe, bobcat, and the tractor. They wanted to drive the dump truck around but they can't reach the pedals. (I took their Dad up in my 40' man lift to repair his roof and was nearly in tears with terror) Not all kids are the same, but these kids have gained soooo much confidence in themselves and their abilities and aren't afraid to try new things. And they both had me show them how to arc weld! Dad has actually thanked me for doing more things with them than he could ever do (he owns a restaurant and doesn't have the background to teach them)

Sounds like water in the fuel. I'd carefully remove the sediment bowl and look for water or an organic goop that tends to invade diesel systems and semi-clogs the filter. Draining the tank might be in order.

My township had one of our tree profesionals die yesterday.<br>
He went thru a chipper. This is posted here as a reminder about saftey. His mistakes?<br>
1. He used his foot to dislodge a stuck branch.<br>
2. He borrowed and was using an unfamiliar machine that day<br>
3. The machine he was using had the emergency reverse arm broke (or disabled) OSHA is looking into it. <br>
All three of those rules were broke and are considered some of the golden rules. The other tree company's in my town are all walking on egg shells this week. This man was 30 yrs old, 6'8" and owned his own buisness. It took 7 seconds, if anything remotely good can come from this, let it be that we all keep this story in our heads while we are using our equipment this year!

This diesel tractor appeared to start loosing power yesterday while bushhogging and quickly stopped running down hill. My solution was to put in some fuel as it was real low, crack the injector connections at the head to get the air out, and continue mowing. The stream of fuel at the injectors never did flow well if any at all and it did not start. Are there any other tests or things i should be doing?<br>
