Can anyone give me a general idea of what a three year old 757 with about 200hrs is worth? Good shape, used in a one-owner residential setting. New, it was roughly $7,300 or so. North Louisiana region.<br>

Both my tractor and boat ran out of juice not long ago. We have these cheap $50 jump starters in each car and on the boat. The jump starter barely started the boat and did NOT start the JD4310 (SP-22NF, 390CCA, 490CA). I notice that these cheap $50 jump starters are about 750AMP, 12AH. Would a jump starter for about $130 (1700 peak, 22AH) do the job or do you have to spend $230 (2000, 34AH) to get the engine to crank at a reasonable speed? I would like to purchase one that I can use for the tractor AND the boat (305 ci gas engine).<br>

I really appreciate the good advice I've gotten here so far, and thought I'd ask another question.<br>

So I went to my local kubota dealer yesterday (southeast Mass), and had a look at some tractors - the B3030, and per Art's useful advice, the L3400. The B3030 was really nice - they want want $18,350 for the HSD - F with folding ROPS, mid pto, and loader. The L3400 HST - F was $18,000 for the same setup - cheaper, oddly.<br>

So the question is, which of those would be better for me? THe B would be better for mowing than an L3400 with a towed finish deck, but the L3400 is noticeably cheaper. Oddly enough, on the stats the B3030 looks like basically as strong a machine except for PTO horsepower. The LA463 for the L3400 lifts 1142 pounds at the pivot pin, and the LA403 on the B3030 lifts 1091. The L clearly weighs more, which I assume means a stronger frame, and might be a little worse for mowing.<br>

So the question is, how do I decide between the B3030 and the L3400? What are the decision making factors? They don't seem that different, honestly, but I'm sure I'm missing something.<br>

Oh, and as per my last post, I have 7.5 acres, pretty hilly, mostly woods which I want to clear a lot of, and 1.5 acres in grass currently.<br>

You might have to use heat if they are rusty but they should unscrew with no trouble. Make sure that you put it back to the adjustment.

Murf, if you happen to cross central Kentucky, we have a 5000ft runway, in my home town, and you would be welcome.

FYI, in May of this year we spent a week at Depoe Bay, Oregon. This is a small fishing village located between Lincoln City and Newport on the Oregon coast, about 90 miles southwest of Portland.

This is beautiful country with excellent resturants. We stayed in a condo by WorldMark. Our patio was about 20ft from the ocean cliff. In the evening, after dinner we would watch the whales play in the surf and the sunsets, as the saying goes, "where to die for". I have pictures of the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen, just happened to be in the right spot at the right time.

If you are going to visit this area, let me know, and I can provide you info on things to do and resturants.

As stated above, http://johnstractor.homestead.com/InjPumpInstall.html should identify the procedures for you. However, my manuals says the Y385T should be at 14 BTDC for appropriate pump timing. 18 degrees probably works, but the manual specifies 14<br>

Also check air filter and intake system for such as insect nest. Anything to restrict the air flow. If fuel filter had not been changed in a while, the air filter probably needs it also.

Like anything else, take it for a test drive. If he won't hook it up to his tractor, go get yours and try it. Listening while it's raised on the 3pt won't always reveal any internal problems, if any. Put it iunder load it may reveal a bad bearing, or loose chain, or other problem. If he's confident that it works have him prove it. Any reluctance for letting you "look under the hood", shake his hand and git!

My blue doesn't "howl" but does groan when on pavement or hard-pack when the tire pressure is off especially on the rear tires. And I agree with Art and beagle; it's telling you something. When it's on loose dirt it's not as noticeable as the tires can slip and overcome any rotational differences the driveline is seeing. Either way is saps power and any sort of driveline bind just isn't good for the life of the tractor

I have a 2003 CC 2518. I have had no major problems with it. I added the Ag (lug) tires this spring and traction is great. I find this tractor to be very heavy duty and reliable. The 44 inch deck does a great job and I can't be more pleased. I have 6 acres and it is hilly and bumpy in places.

Sounds like you may have air/water/contamination in your fuel which has made its way to the injector pump. Have you tried cracking the fuel line connectors at the fuel injectors and cranking the engine until you have a good fuel spray at the injectors? This should reprime the lines and injectors as well as purge any water/contamination or air. Now might be a good time to drain some fuel from the bottom of the fuel tank and check the fuel filter as well.

I never wrote a speeding ticket unless they were doing 10+ over and then it was usually dependent on passing the "hello test".

Mark, I just now read that and I had a good laugh. I was the same way only it was Good Morning, Good afternoon (whatever) followed by a sufficient pause. Heaven help those that didn't answer.

Ah... land and a tractor... Life just doesn't get any better. Once you have the tractor, you'll come up with all sorts of uses for it. I throw bags of mulch in my loader bucket for hauling to what ever trees I need to work on. They do quite a bit of stuff. Have fun, be safe.

Last piece of advice: If your gut says don't so it, then don't. Safest way to operate a tractor. I've almost flipped one before and it didn't have a ROPS. Think and you'll be fine.
