The concept car has the Viper 6-speed. So it should handle any Hemi they put in it.

The variable displacement engine seems to be a hit in the Chrysler 300. With gas prices the way they are and will be, the Challenger is still under development...I can't imagine they won't put a variable displacement engine in it.

With the price point Dodge is trying to reach with this car (competing with the Mustang) I wouldn't be surprised to see some changes from the concept car. Hopefully some of the more intersting bits, like the 6-speed, will at least be availabe as options.

It has an electric PTO wet clutch/brake pack operated by the switch. Generally you'd run JD Hy-Gard (and low-viscosity Hy-Gard if operating in temps below 0 degrees). All fluids and filters should have been changed at 50 hours and at 200 hours it's due again.

You gotta make sure the drum is vented--my buddies left me three, 30 gallon drums with gas and diesel in them. They sat in the hot sun fully closed and they looked like Weebles ready to fall over the ends ballooned out.

30 gallons is really a drop in the bucket...errr...drum. Also, your local DOT may stop you if you are transporting it on the roadways since it is not certified as a fuel storage vessel. To get around being stopped or rather comply with the law, I found a new, 60-gal, take-off, school bus fuel tank complete with brazed-on USDOT- compliant certification label, and drain hole bungs. All I did was put a bung in it for the pump and install a hand-operated push-pull pump with a cartridge filter with a 6' hose ($100 for the tank and $120 for filter, fittings, pump and hose from TSC) It's all handily mounted on the front of my bobcat trailer, but can be removed with forks from under or a lifting lug on top (oh yeah, forgot to mention I made a raised platform with a basket handle lifting lug).

Also, in some localities at least where I'm from, it is illegal to have an elevated tank for fuel (the story goes too many were abandoned on farms in the area and/or toppled over for whatever reason). The Fire Marshall will cite you if he finds an elevated take in your possession. Even ground-level tanks must have an integrated reservoir around it equal to its volume. And a fire arresting enclosure atop the tank covering the reservoir.

We had several customers try that, it failed everytime.

Unfortunately when you need the water the most it's not raining, or you wouldn't need the water.

What states will do to make the pump price look good. Does it not make sense to just place the tax on the gas? The heavier the vehicle the more wear on the road and the more fuel used? Greater miles equal more money?
I had a lot of discussion concerning the fuel prices in Canada when I first moved to MA. If you calculated the tolls, vehicle tax and price of gas in MA the cost was actually less in Ontario.

The alarm also works to shut up the neighbor's cats when they start fighting below your window at 1 am.

My kid loves to play with my keys and loves buttons. She's triggered the alarm several times now. But since I live the country, it only annoys me. Have the alarm going off or listen to the kid scream when I take the keys away to shut off the alarm...lose either way.

I agree the tires are not the best and overinflating them hurts the traction, but the issue is more systemic. The tractor is too light in the rear end, and when you do get traction (e.g., by adding a rear weight rack, tire chains for snow plowing, etc.) you find out quickly that the lugs and wheels are not robust enough to handle it (I have had to replace my driver's side right rear wheel).

It is a nice lawn mower for relatively flat, smooth lawns, but I would not recommend it for anyone with more than 2 acres, hilly lawn, rougher areas to mow, snow removal or a desire to use the trailer.

Here's another trick we discovered, if you don't see a clean spot, or spot a leak as Art mentioned, then clean the hose off, and get it wet with a fine mist of water from a hand spray bottle. A leak will inhale the water around it and leave a bare spot in the water, or at least make a visible depression in the surface tension of the water on the hose.<br>

Just got back to the conversation. Interesting! Murf, my daughters godfather is a logger and owns a smaller proceser
(SP BAD ) it can handle trees up to 16" dia so it will work for what I need to clear since I will want to keep most of any trees larger than that. The land dont have too many large trees but I feel just enough. No marketable lumber (so to speak since fuel is so high I dont have enough on the land to make it worth while)
Murf, I very much appreciate your offer. My buddy sometimes is buisy with larger jobs and may not have time for my clear cut. I will pm you with my e-mail. If you come up with someone that is willing to clear off the acre and remove all the trees/saplings EVERYTHING let me know.
Cutting is not the problem its removing everything afterwards that is the job.

I understand about the roots of larger trees and what happens after you "stump" a tree, I found that out many years ago (its a good place to grow mushrooms but not grass). I plan to leave all the larger trees (which is not many like I said) I was wondering about those machines I see that have a huge roller type do hickey with spikes on her, Hud-son forrest equipment has a pulveriser on the web that I was wondering about.

Murf, if you can find or know someone in the Eau Claire Wisconsin area that will cut and remove an acre of my land I would be very interested, its hard to find folks you can trust to do a job unless you know them or know someone who knows them.

I've used a 3pt PHD on my 33hp NH with excellent results in clay soils and went down 48" for signage posts for an apartment complex. At 8" diameter roots didn't pose a problem, but I lucked out and didn't come across many. The unit was a good brand name and wa well balanced and weighed enough that down pressure wasn't a concern. What is a concern was if you go to deep, too quick---or if it cathces a rock or root, there is a chance you'll scfew it right into the ground. And since you can't reverse it you'll need to have another larger machine lift it out or disconnect the auger and using a pipe wrench and a long pipe manually reverse it out. The key is drill down in small increments pulling it up and out to shed the spoils. That lessens getting it stuck in the hole. Also upgrading to a heavier-duty auger bit with replaceable teeth will cost more but last forever.

Even though my skid steer hydraulic auger has 1,700 lb-ft. of torque, I can stall it on larger roots (running a 24" diameter drill) but I can usually reverse it and chop them up, then run it forward. This is effective for chopping up bricks and concrete in the way too---that's what's nice about having an extreme-duty drill--don't have worry about destroying the drill.

Another option is to rent a walk-behind or ride-on rubber tracked skid steer like a Toro Dingo that Home Depot rents; they have auger attachments for them amongst other ones.
