I have had a 2518 for about 3 years, and my brother had used it for about 1 year before I bought it from him (I had just moved into a new place, had no lawn tractor and wanted to help him out). It was great for his flat, square 2 acre lawn, and it does OK for basic lawn mowing (it has the 48" deck). But, it is not a good fit for mowing on steep inclines (either I put the weights on the rack and then have very poor steering due to weight shift to the rear, or it spins out). It is actually kind of humorous how I have to disable the seat automatic shutoff so I can throw my 230 lbs around trying to get one of the wheels to bite.

And with my long, steep driveway, it only works OK for snow plowing when there is dry, powdery snow and I get on it before any melt underneath. Otherwise, even with the weights and rear tire chains, it can't make the hill - even with the blade up (sometimes I have to drive up with the blade up and plow back down).

It is OK with the small trailer to move a light load (under 600 lbs.) over a flat, dry surface.

And, with about 200 hours on it, I have had several indications that the mower deck, rear wheel rims, and front steering linkage just is not heavy duty enough for me.

So, I have been to the Kubota dealer, am considering a B7800 there, and also looking at the Kioti CK30 and the Cub Cadet 7305. I need a tougher mower, I definitely need 4WD traction for snow plowing and mowing the meadow on our property, and I could also frequently take advantage of the FEL and better towing capacity for moving lumber and rocks around our 16 acres of woods, lawn, gardens and meadow. I am not looking forward to spending $15,000+, but it just has to happen.

Here is a simple solution to this so-called problem of identity theft: if you don't want your information tempered with, DON'T GIVE IT OUT!!! Cash is still an acceptable form of tender in the US and nothing is stopping you from paying for your purchases in cash and staying away from credit.

I hear some of you complaining about companies who use your personal information for profit (what a surprise - a company trying to make a profit) and asking the government to come in with more regulations and more power to control those companies. Do you see how you are the ones responsible for the growth of government? Every time you run to the government for help, there's payback in your liberties. It's like asking Godfather for a favor, he'll ask you to return that favor sooner or later.

Don't like your information tempered with? Use cash.

Not sure if my fingers were backwards, or I thought it was the disucssion on alarms or just poor eyesight and old age. Sure glad for the help. My wife agrees I need all I can get. LOL with you.

They proably should use the tarp for cover and the trap for security.

Your number 3, are you saying you will pump the diesel fuel through an air hose nozzle? If so I don't beleive you will be pleased at best it sure would be slow. It might cause the fuel to foam up a lot.

Your number 2, if you only file it when your tractor is low (that is when I think fuel) and then fill your tractor is will make it lighter if you must move it.

Something else very simple but often over looked, keep car doors locked while driving even in parking lot or sitting there. A lady was pulling into park at Wal Mart in the middle of the afternoon (in other words full day light) as she was parking a man hopped in and kidnapped her as his partner followed in stolen pickup. She was never found even with video showing the action very well.

Just got back to the conversation. Interesting! Murf, my daughters godfather is a logger and owns a smaller proceser
(SP BAD ) it can handle trees up to 16" dia so it will work for what I need to clear since I will want to keep most of any trees larger than that. The land dont have too many large trees but I feel just enough. No marketable lumber (so to speak since fuel is so high I dont have enough on the land to make it worth while)
Murf, I very much appreciate your offer. My buddy sometimes is buisy with larger jobs and may not have time for my clear cut. I will pm you with my e-mail. If you come up with someone that is willing to clear off the acre and remove all the trees/saplings EVERYTHING let me know.
Cutting is not the problem its removing everything afterwards that is the job.

I understand about the roots of larger trees and what happens after you "stump" a tree, I found that out many years ago (its a good place to grow mushrooms but not grass). I plan to leave all the larger trees (which is not many like I said) I was wondering about those machines I see that have a huge roller type do hickey with spikes on her, Hud-son forrest equipment has a pulveriser on the web that I was wondering about.

Murf, if you can find or know someone in the Eau Claire Wisconsin area that will cut and remove an acre of my land I would be very interested, its hard to find folks you can trust to do a job unless you know them or know someone who knows them.

Some air leaks on the suction line are very hard to find as you can suck air into a smaller hole then might leak fluid! Look over very closer. It is best to not clean before looking as a clean spot might very well be your leak.

Should be done every eight hours of use of that attachment. If you use your loader two hours a day every four days at a minumum it should be greased. The tractor might only be a little greasy if over greased, negleted comes from the pocket and inconvience far more then the price of a tube or two of grease.

I've used a 3pt PHD on my 33hp NH with excellent results in clay soils and went down 48" for signage posts for an apartment complex. At 8" diameter roots didn't pose a problem, but I lucked out and didn't come across many. The unit was a good brand name and wa well balanced and weighed enough that down pressure wasn't a concern. What is a concern was if you go to deep, too quick---or if it cathces a rock or root, there is a chance you'll scfew it right into the ground. And since you can't reverse it you'll need to have another larger machine lift it out or disconnect the auger and using a pipe wrench and a long pipe manually reverse it out. The key is drill down in small increments pulling it up and out to shed the spoils. That lessens getting it stuck in the hole. Also upgrading to a heavier-duty auger bit with replaceable teeth will cost more but last forever.

Even though my skid steer hydraulic auger has 1,700 lb-ft. of torque, I can stall it on larger roots (running a 24" diameter drill) but I can usually reverse it and chop them up, then run it forward. This is effective for chopping up bricks and concrete in the way too---that's what's nice about having an extreme-duty drill--don't have worry about destroying the drill.

Another option is to rent a walk-behind or ride-on rubber tracked skid steer like a Toro Dingo that Home Depot rents; they have auger attachments for them amongst other ones.

I have not measured it but I would guess the center nozzle sprays between 4 and 6 feet wide. You could vary that a little by lowering the pressure.

I watched some professional gas utilities guys rip out an active 1" line to a home (I had already demoed) from an 8" main with a BH buried under the shoulder of a 4-lane highway. The guy watching was smoking and tossed the lit cigarette butt in the hole as gas spewed out. Totally in disbelief I asked what the f____ was he was thinking! He shrugged it off and said the gas has to get at least 6 feet above the hole AND hit an open flame for it to catch fire. Well okay then.

By the way when I got the demo permit from the city they told me and gave me supposed proof that the gas had been cut. Well it hadn't---in the middle of demoing the gas co. was called and they put a temp cap over where the meter was and took the meter. So I tore the house down with it on! The 2 weeks later the gas co. had the balls to show up again and finish disconnecting the gas---which is when they pulled out the line. Four weeks after that they sent me a bill for $400 for damaging their gas line and the meter! I called their legal department and stated my case. The legal guys agreed it was their fault and said forget about paying it. Kewl.

I used to give the hay free for the cutting just to keep about 3 quarters of an acre from growing up in weeds trees and brush.
I think it yielded 11 square bales.
At 2 bucks a bale that's 22 dollars you can't even get somebody to mow your yard for that.
