What category hitch do you have? And how much lb. lift is it rated for? I have a 6' power rake on my TC33D and front weights and it will still lift the front end if I lift it quickly. Power rakes are, by design heavy. Mine weighs roughly 1000 lb. (the hitch is rated at 1700 lb. but the rake sticks out about 6 feet including the caster wheels so there's a lot of leverage on the rear wheels.)

A ride started this morning from Dubuque to Sioux City then back to Waterloo by next weekend. That is close to 450 miles with 100 tractors. Last week one went thru eastern Iowa with 450 tractors. I did'nt believe it either, but yes 450 tractors. I haven't gone on one yet, a worn out back and an "H" Farmall don't mix too well for that long of a trip. Seems like soon as one is announced the reservations are sold out in a day or so. Most all are sponsored by a farm radio station with pretty stringent rules far as mirrors, safety equipmment, etc. Have a brat and a suds watching to old iron roll past. Frank.

Don't get me started on the estate tax law that got defeated. The Dems pushed back saying it would reduce much needed tax revenue. But if you apply LOGICAL thinking to how it was written, it would have actually increased tax revenue while allowing small business owners to pass their businesses to their family upon their death. But the Dems who ran some account office applies some seriously messed up math that even a 1st grade student would know was wrong. So they got a good bill killed and we all suffer for it.

I've heard of just as stupid of stuff too. We had a tech that was standing on his tippy-toes on the front edge of the loader bucket to cut a tree limb with a chainsaw. When the branch cut loose, it swung down and knocked him backwards out of the bucket. He knew it was bad so he threw the chainsaw as hard as could before he bounced his shoulder off the front tire. He was moving really slow for a few days. But he missed landing on the chainsaw!

Having some health problems, I read the posts daily, but don't have much to offer, my Son is home from Iraq and resigned from the Army. They can still call him back but no overseas duty unless he agrees. That took a lot of my worry away,and the Doctor said it was affecting my health. hope everything is all well with you!!

Were you sitting in the seat when you tried the pto? There is a switch in the seat that must be activated to make the pto work. Check to be sure the wires are connected under the seat. There is also an electromagnet under the dash that makes the pto lever work. You might check the wiring there. I am not sure of the value of the mower deck and the blower, but I suspect if they are in good shape, you might expect to pay around $1000.00 for the mower and around $1500.00 for the blower at a dealer, maybe more if you try to sell it during a snowstorm. Companies I have worked for have also sold stuff as new that was previously used. It always bothers me when I see that.

Mattresses? I think about that every time I stay in a Hotel.

My experiences with refurbished products has been almost uniformly poor so I don't buy refurbs anymore.

Has anyone had any experience with the new JD Comfortgard Cab Tractors...in the 4000 series........do they cool enough in summer or more especially...heat enough in winter....windows fogging up etc.......

I made a three point carrier (like what goes into your trucks reciever hitch to add cargo carrier?) Used the tractors three point lifting ability to raise and lower the 25 gallon Fimco sprayer that ALSO comes in a trailer version! This is a pretty decent set up for the occasional sraying and will cost you less than $200 (depending on what you get) Look up Fimco Sprayers.
I have used mine thre to four times a year now for the last 2-3 years, No problems (KNOCK KNOCK) LOL
PS The lifting ability came/comes in handy for the amount of spray you want to cover the ground and its concentration. Also if the wind picks up you can lower it and make more passes.

iowa: Hey thanks so much for the caring. The water thing is a constant issue--and I don't mean from the hurricane. About a month ago there was a high tide with an easterly wind that brought water a foot over the roads in some places. Even though I'm 5 miles from the Gulf, I'm about a mile from the bayous that lead to the gulf. So weather related water is a daily concern. But on a serious note I have made a lot friends down here. There's a certain "we're all in the same boat" literally and figuratively. I'm keeping my Candominium at a customer's house whose house floated OVER power lines and landed in the road. All he has is 10-foot-high stilts that supported his 2500 sq ft home. He bought 3 acres north about 5 miles which we cleared and dug him a big pond. I've done about $1000 in free work for his two sets of relative neighbors so I'm sure I would be welcome to keep my stuff there until the storm passes (Hurricane Katrina reached some 400 miles inland and was over 200 miles wide---so it's hard to escape this kind of stuff---and now I see there's something brewing off Florida---RUT ROW RAGGY! Man, when I lived in Michigan (as my east-side-of-Michigan contractor friends working down and are moving here call Michigan "The Mistake by the Lake.") the only time I paid attention to the weather was in the winter when I had to plow snow the next morning. Any body wanna buy a nearly new Boss 8-2" v-plow?

After the 3rd time reading my BX-23 manual I figured out missing 8 pages(4 sheets) wasn't so bad but 1 is the 50 hr service info. Scatered thruout book. be aware anybody else notice? Going to dealer in am!!

Dealer or any source like E-bay you might find to aquire your owners manual. They are disc brakes and other then parking there is little use if the hydro is right to use the tractor. There is a adjustment to them but they nrmally don't need adjustment.

I took the carburetor apart - all looked ok. It definitely acts as if it is not getting gas. I confirmed the fuel line is clear and replaced the fuel filter. I was able to get it started so I am going to make sure the tank is full and change the oil and see if it starts to behave.

Hardwood, my wife's aunt and uncle had one of them fan-belt cats. I called him Tripod. He got around pretty good despite missing that front leg. Then he up and disappeared. Coyote or wolf probably got him. They have both up there.
