thanks guys, is this a part i need to purchase froma n h dealer only, or is there a supplier?
also hate to ask alot of questions, but i am also an AMSOIL freak, i am not a salesman, i use it in everthing i have,
what is the oil you would use in a hydrostat,? do you have to use the N H brand????

I dunno---for $25 each I'd hang on to the tires. As far as R4's, that is my main stay. Can't beat 'em. The dealer is making a profit on the new tires and is going to turn around and sell the used ones at a proifit too. Some dealers will let you trade tires for tires, depending on if they have someone in the wings waiting for your tires, and if the cost is comparable.

KW: I'm assuming you are talking about spoilers color-keyed to the car; those aren't unpainted materials or molded-in-color. Generally it's the same paint, or same maker of paint (with some exceptions as bonding and flex agents). Here's some trivia: the racing stripes on the Dodge Vipers are painted on, not decals. The hood, top, roll bar, and deck lid panels are mounted in jig (minus the car). The stripes are hand-masked by two workers. The maskers use four laser lines created by a rotating laser mounted above the jig. Then they're painted, buffed and as I recall clearcoated.

Reducing the hose or fitting size at the cylinder is not going to heat the oil up since the metering is done at the the valve body, which is its purpose. And th ouild doesn't circulate --it goes to the cylinder for a second and then is forced back when you selw the other way. The oil still has to go through the spool valve, it's just that not as much volume will be needed, and you're controlling the volume and the valve. The heat build up comes from reducing the size from the pump to the valve, not from the valve to the cylinder at least not for this application.

As far as th on/off feel of the valve lever or "throw", try making the "throw" longer either by changing the geometry of the lever connection at the valve to the lever, or making the lever longer. This will give you more control. I haven't seen your valve set up, but I'm thinking a bell-crank having different length legs/sides/ended may do the trick. Your goal, based on what I know of your situation, is to take a long throw and get very little movement from it at the valve spool.

If that doesn't work you may want to consider buying a used valve bank from a bucket truck, just make sure it has the same number of levers and can be plumbed-in relatively easily.

Also, look (e-Bay is a good source) for a used valve bank from a DitchWitch, Case, or Vermeer (common in the States) ride-on backhoe trencher. A valve bank from a tree trimmer truck (A.K.A. "bucket truck" or "cherry picker" here or "lorry" down unda').

For reference, I have a 1987 Case, 4x4, ride-on, trencher and backhoe (for sale $4500 USD) that probably has the perfect valve bank set up.

I bought my 4210 over three years ago and it does everything I needed it to do. I have a FEL and a box scraper. I just installed a Taylor Way 766 backhoe on it but really haven't had a chance to really dig with it, but I'm sure it'll be better than digging by hand with a shovel ;-) .

How would be able to tell a finish cut from a rough cut when it comes cutting over rocks and lifting too to avoid damage---which is going to happen with either cutter? You might be looking at a very expensive flail mower, but even that will take some $ for flails. And a zero turn...better buy a kidney belt and keep money aside for new blades, spindles and a deck, not to mention a new frame and casters (depending on the heavy-duty COMMERCIAL model you but, not some ExMark from Home Depot). Even in a 2,000lb. tractor you are going to get the ride of your life.

You are being starved for gas. Sounds like the float needle is sticking. You need to add something to the gas not in the carb. It could be a little water in the carb bowl. I would pull the carb off, clean and check the bowl and reset the float.

Brake actuators are pretty useless on a tractor, large or small. They only really have a benefit when there is a fairly large range in operating speeds.

Also, most controllers use an internal pendulum to adjust the power, at slow speeds, or on rough ground it is nearly useless.

Anyone who has ever setup a brake controller for highway driving in hill country and then found themselves heading for the windshield the first time you tried to stop in a service plaza knows what I mean. If you set the brakes for speed they nearly lock at slow speeds. If you set them for parking lot speed they aren't there above about 30 mph.

Our big tractor has only two settings via a 3 position flip switch, off, low & high. Generally it stays in the low position.

I'm sure you will have little reason to need much adjustment.

I bought a 3120 this past fall and have been very happy with it so far. I have a FEL and RFM. I ordered it with the extra big tires which I am happy I did, more for looks as opposed to function. I'd suggest the CX FEL if you get one.

Bill I use mine for commercial grading and brushcutting which is hard on it, but even still they should have lasted a lot longer that 50 hours. Mine are made of a stamped sheetmetal sheath welded to the ends of the arms with a locking lever in each. The extensions slide inside the sheaths. The sheath gets pounded up and down and side to side to the point it allows the extensions to be very wobbly. This wobbly action makes it impossible to hold the box scraper at a given position; the box scraper can travel up and down at one end as much as 2" total.

The L-3400 is a very good work horse but the Grand L's do offer a work area that is a little bit cleaner in design and easier to enclose properly for a cab with heat for winter snow removal and as long as we are there. The 3400 has no provisions for a front snow blower or a mid mower.

Hi Greg,
Yes I thought about the dipstick being the right one, and whether the oil was overfull but how does one know? And I take your point about self importing and no dealer support. The correct fluid has been used after I drained and flushed the tank etc. The oil is also going the right way.

Although there are some Jinmas around here, there are no backhoes so no help here. That's why forums like this are good because people with a common interest can offer help, advice or guesses as you put it. Sometimes one can be blinkered, can't see the forrest for the trees so to speak. It just needs someone looking in from the outside to offer their opinion and that's what makes us look and or re evaluate the situation, and more often or not find a solution.
I'll continue to monitor the situation and hope to get a reply from the manufacturer as to why they think it is happening. The moment I do I'll post their answer.

Thanks once again Greg and a guess is always 100% better than nothing.
