Just bought a 6800 which the 7040 replaced. I can't find anything I don't like about this tractor. How do you like the direct injection?
I had some concerns about the amount of plastic on the newer tractors. I am sure it isnt a problem with the cab.

That size is often used on larger {80-130} hp four wheel drive tractors on the fronts of many brands of tractors. Do some more looking at farm equipment dealers or where they shop if they don't have in house tire repair.

It would be rare to find check valves used in loader controls on compact tractors. Most manufacturers have limits as to how much bleed down is acceptable and it should be expected. Six inches an hour normally is an exceptable number.

Thanks, Randy. I've been carrying around a 27 gallon sprayer in the loader bucket wired directly to the battery terminals. It worked OK but the sprayer would roll around in the bucket and hose management was cumbersome (I don't use a boom). Now I've got it set up on my 3-point carry-all and it will plug into the trailer connection. The plan is to also install a hose reel to make make a nice self-contained setup.

Like the other posts said if the blade isn't designed and built to withstand the high leverage at the pivot you will wish you had invested in a box scraper. A box scraper will tend to load up which will help become the needed weight. You might want to invest in hydraulic top link which will give you more versatility with the box scraper as yu can tilt the scarifiers to the optimal pitch. You can do it manually with the manual top link but hydraulic is the way to go. When I make my final pass I lift the box scraper all the way and extend the top link which drops the rear. I then pull it around in high gear and it spreads out the finer stuff like butter. Another option is buying or renting a 3-pt power rake (about $4000-7000). They are amazing how they can grind a soil into powder (I've got one). You need a hydrostat trans though to be effective.

Here's another idea: a "middle buster" or "single shank ripper" they're not real cheap ($150-300) but could be the ticket to break up soil.

Bill I have the "deluxe" 3-pt extenders. They are a joke. Mine wore out at about 50 hours. I ended up welding them solidly in place after I found that the arms are $270 each x 2. My solution to the extenders was to make my own quick attach similar to what a skid steer loader has--complete with hydraulic locking pins.
The swivel seat isn't designed too well either as if you tilt it forward to keep the rain off it gets caught on a corner of the seat base slider frame. I find it handy though to jam my knee up against the steering column as a backstop when doing grading and brush mowing.

Kubota uses the green stuff. Once a month is a hand full of work for a mmm. You might want to get a brush cutter. As for the grill clogging up there is real no easy way to get around it. Maybe wrap some nylon mesh around it so it can be more easily cleaned.

Describe the point in time when it's jerky. For instance, let's say the b'hoe is fully extended and fully raised. When you bring or crowd the dipper stick it sort of falls or travels on it's own as it goes past center, then it stops and continues. If it does this then there could be air trapped in the cylinders which needs to be bled or the pump is either being run at too low an RPM, or the pump is too small and can't keep up, or the pump is going bad and is aerating the oil which will cause even more wear to the pump. I doubt very the problem is in the controls unless the controls (the spools inside) is sloppy inside the bores.

Hi-Does hinomoto-or anyone else-make a power steering unit or some adapter that changes the steering geometery on the E2304? I've reversed the front wheels-for sidehill-so the very hard steering is now very VERY hard. I also need to widen my rear trac and the factory rims have little offset and are single piece. Any suggestions?

I have been looking for a zero turn mower and have not pulled the trigger because most of them I've looked at that would do what I need have been $6500+ . The used units I've seen have been VERY used and abused, I came across a 757 at my local JD dealer that has a little over 300 hours on it and about 45 days remaining on the original factory warranty. The dealer fixed a leak under warranty and is doing a full service to it and wants $5000-$5500 for it. It appears to be in very good shape and not abused. <br>

Any thoughts on this unit for this price and are there any problems associated w/these units. He says a new one is $7950 (sound right) ?<br>

I keep a 6x6 patch of flannel rag for rotating the spline. There shouldn't be gobs of grease on your spline. Only enough to keep it lubed.

Have you checked the fuel filler cap (the ventinf portion of it) to be sure there isn't a vacuum condition? A samll amount of dust and debris mixed with with fuel is all it takes.

If you have it torn down that far I would replace the bearings. With out seeing first hand it is hard to tell. Can you e-mail pictures of the damage.
