It's interesting that you mention that. The Stihl dealer that was rather close to me went out of business. The next closest dealer was too far out of the way this past week when I needed a replacement chain. I bought an Oregon chain, and it sliced up 3 trees this past weekend like they were nothing. (I'd still prefer to use a Stihl chain, but the Oregon definately got things done.) Does anyone know a good online ordering source for Stihl chains?

The symptoms definately point to the fuel being starved. Like Greg said start with the tank strainer and work forward.

hay art i am putting it on a agco allis 4650 like i said i am real impressed with the kelley b50 but i bought some land with some big treess and alot of big bolders for rocks and well the kelley has seen some better days i am thinking of the bh950 but i am also thinking about a full size backhoe so what do you think about the deal?

Thats a fair price, 220 hrs. is very low (500 is broke in).
A comparable new machine with attachments would be 34K plus tax (retail). Plus a New machine comparable would have the John Deere Power Tech engine (4320) the 4710 has a Yanmar engine. (better IMHO).

Couple suggestions

� We spent some additional bucks on attic roof trusses � 7/12 pitch. So we have a loft throughout the entire building. When we built it I swore I would never be able to fill the attic. � Boy was I wrong �

� Larger garage door � we planned on 10 and ended up with a 16

� Plumb it for water and drains � I didn�t and already wish I would have
� Windows � We didn�t think we wanted a lot�. ended-up we did.
� Take your time and have fun � some things we rushed.
� Wrap the building with a moisture barrier
� We did a curtain drain all the way around the building � good piece of mind � depends on your grade also

Curtis sell a soft top. They manufacture a PE top for the Gator, seems like this would be a good solution if they sprang for a mold.

As they have modern engine technology in the small diesels there are a number of manufactures, including Club Cadet who are utilizing them. As a dealer I think you can afford the small fee to support the board. I can almost garantee we have helped one of your customers. At least you can right it off unlike the rest of us.

I replaced mine with a Optima 34/78 marine battery. I have a winch and jumper cables that I run off of the studs. I removed the stock battery stop and welded a new stop back a little bit closer to the radiator. I used a piece of 1" angle iron across the top of the battery with 9" bolts to hold it down. Two years now with no corrosion or movement. Starts in all temps, -25 anyways. Runs the winch very well. Good thread. Thanks.<br>
Edit: I have a sync-reverser tractor so I dont have a cooler, just a radiator. I had enough room to do this, With a cooler you may not.

The fine IS for using untaxed fuel in a taxable use, such as driving a vehicle on the road. In a lot of jurisdictions you cannot even operate certain legitimate "farm use" vehicles on the road with coloured fuel.

BTW, a loaf of bread in an oinion bag will remove almost all of the colourant. But don't get caught doing it, the 'dye' also has a chemical additive that is NOT removed by removing the colour. The inspectors have a test kit which requires just a drop of fuel to tell that it is untaxed fuel.

From what I have seen & heard, the fine is usually $10,000+ as well as an amount equal to double what they feel you have escaped paying.

In any case, even just the legal cost can be substantial defending yourself.

Oh, and they usually impound the offending vehicle as 'evidence' until the trial comes up.

The eBay scams are pretty easy to spot. I requested more info from several eBay sellers who had similar stories. They all said they were somewhere overseas, usually in the UK, and their U.S. father-in-law had died and left the tractor somewhere in the U.S. and it was a 3-day auction. The pictures looked familiar, because they had stolen them from previous Kubota auctions. The selling price was ridiculously low and always included free shipping to anywhere in the U.S. The tractors were currently located in an eBay warehouse. When I asked them for the address of the "eBay warehouse," so that I might inspect the machines, that was the end of communications.

I am in the process of buying an eBay Kubota L3600GST with LA680 FEL from a used equipment dealer in Texas. It's supposed to be "like new" and is to be delivered next week. I'm anxious to see how it looks. My first real tractor, if it shows up :-)

Oliver made a real fine tractor in its day. The 1955 was one of them. I am sure it will be well suited to the task and your friend also found a nice collector to restore as well.

I'm driving a 1/2 ton with 3/4 ton tires on it. The side or max inflation on the side wall is 80lbs but they currently are at 50lbs and are working well. The ride is still rougher then the original tires and they have little or no squat to them even with the rear well loaded and sagging. Now on the trailer that I most often pull they have 45 on on the side and I found them to be the best at 60lbs otherwise when fully loaded try and keep it on the road at 65. I also have raised the hitch point to the truck to improve the tow. It is all different for every application. My boat trailer is built for a heavier boat and on thse I run them about 15lbs below the max on the sidewall and it tows great at any speed that I've towed it.

I mowed for the first time with my hydro 3520/MMM. This tractor has so much power, it is incredible. I was mowing through the edge of the pasture with grass 2 to 3 ft high, and the 7iron mower has so much suction, it would lift up the tall grass that I just drove over, leaving no tracks. I can't believe how fast you can go and still get a smooth cut. THis engine with the Turbo uses such a small amount of fuel. Overall, this tractor is a dream, whether I am using the loader or blade, or mowing. If anyone is considering a 6 month old used 3520 (or 3320) for a low price, Cross implement in Illinois has a model every 2 to 4 months that they rent to municipalities to mow baseball diamonds etc.

Accually mine has the flip down blade and I love having that feature, I have been told a set of wheels go for about 250 . It seem like a lot of money if I don't like them.

kthompson, thanks for the advice - eye protection is always on when I'm on the tractor doing any type of mowing. You are correct - due to the fact it is a finish mower, it doesn't throw out that much stuff on each pass. For most bushes, I have to go back and forth a few times to trim it back significatly. All the debris are very small and light.

I am going to digress, the price is not outlandish in my opinion. The cost of these things has shot up in the last two years. There is 0/36 financing or $500 cash to consider yet.
