The plactic blades will take a toll on the wallet if you are working in around solid unmoveable objects like stones or walls at full throttle. The 1/2" sapplings will come down with them but with some damage but should still be able to cut. A steel blade as mentioned will be ruined by the stone in short order, some do recommend the bike handle bar system to overcome kick. When cutting larger diameter stock the three bladed head will be appreciated over the string head but on a flex or tach cable drive system you could bring it's life to an end prematurely. The solid straight shaft would be recommended.

Jason,

I find using a vertical cutter I need protection on my right side. It is more often small but more of it with the flail cutter but in my opinion more dangerous with the bush hog type cutter due to larger debris. Using a finishing mower may not be as dangerous as it will not cut as large of limbs as the rough cut but ... be carefull. At least wear eye protection.

yup - I noticed the two buttons about 1/8 to 3/16 in diameter on top of the transmission. Thought they might be a bypass of some sort. That's good information to know - mystery solved - thanks for cluing me in.

I don't see where you said you would be baling hay only moving it. If so the rear 3 pt spear should work fine unless you will need to lift the bales of hay over a fence for feeding to keep the cows off of it.

The rough cutters in the widths being talked about here use some serious hp. I think you will find a 6 to 7 foot to be about all you would want to use with that size tractor. Do you need the true rough cutter which many call bush hog? If you are only cutting hay or grass you may find a disk mower to serve your needs and their hp and weight requirement is less. Then there is also the option of a flail mower which again requires less weight and somewhat less hp than the bush hog type. If you really need a rough cut mower due to brush or trees you will be cutting be sure you have a good bumper, know the low point of your tractor (see other post on torn off filters) and buy one that extends past at least one side of your tractor a foot or so for to help protect the tractor. If there is harder work on a tractor than the rough cut mower in trees I have not found it. No sheet metal will win a battle with a 2 or 3 inch piece of solid wood (neither will other areas than sheet metal).

As to capacity of disk size and plows a lot will depend on your land. In my part of the world 50 hp will not handle a 10 foot disk.

You will find the biggest reason a person doesn't like their tractor is the hp is not enough. It cost much less to buy big enough up front that to later.

I bought the LX5 at first with the intention of just cutting grass and maybe some lite bush hoging.It didn't take long (about 6 months) to trade up to the MX5. The LX5 is an excellent machine but it's for "lite duty" work like cutting open fields and such, but if you're doing any kind of bush hoging get the MX5, it's a "HORSE."

I dont currently own a compact tractor, nor have ever owned one. I feel I could use one on my 5 acres, and am considering a Yanmar 1610d 4x4 with a loader. Are there any problems with reliability or getting parts for this gray market product. I live in BC Canada near the Washington border. This tractor has been reconditioned by Handlers and has a new loader.The price is $9700 Canadian.Is this a good tractor and is the price fair? Parts availability? Thanks Don

my m7500 was victum to a theft thay got away with auxiliary control valves front grill and altinator i fond an altinator but is need of the other parts will any other models work that use the same parts? so that i could mybee get them abull to broden my search thank you <br>

My bx2200 won't go into lock unless I am gently driving forward. When it gets stuck I still need to GENTLY press on the forward pedal and it goes in. You do have to press with a little pressure as well but Since it was new itwouldn't go in unless you had a little forward movement or wheel spin BUT SLOW so you don't break anything.

Put it in 4wd and drive it in a circle. In 4wd you can see the front wheels slipping out of sync with the ground. In 2wd they should basically turn as fast as they are traveling. Sort of hard to describe but I can sure see the difference on my JD. BTW, turning in 4wd is hard on the drivetrain. It's best to use it in slippery conditions only because there has to be some slippage. The drivetrain designs aren't very sophisticated.

I think they stay under $5000 because the FBI will not investigate a crime under $5000. At least I think I read that somewhere, probably the phoney cashier check scam, that seems to have died down some now. I sell quite a bit on ebay but as Jason said, the clues are obvious. Usually the escrow service is a fraud and that is where the money disappears. I wonder how many $million these scumbags steal every year...

finally rusted out. Bought a new deck only, JD part #AM101544, at the JD dealer and am swapping out pulleys, spindles ect. The transmission mounting for the transmission body to the deck on my old one had welded tabs to the deck with two <br>
holes punched on the vertical axis sides aligned with the holes on the <br>
side of the trans housing. The new deck didn't have those tabs but had prepunched holes.Bought a set of angle iron brackets <br>
from the dealer #M74198 and the holes still don't line up to the <br>
prepunched holes on the new deck. Did JD change the design at <br>
any time or use different tranny types with different bolt spacings? Mine is a "Curtis" type.The grass is up to our neck and I don't have a stick welder! Any help would be greatly appreciated. <br>

Welcome home.

It may be something as simple as a gunk or gummy area it the throttle valve area.

Change out all the fuel to clean fresh. Look for an injector pump additive that cleans. DO NOT go overboard with more is better.

For instence the additives that kill diesel fungus will leave a very gummy residue (almost like a varnish) and it takes alcohol to cut that.

If it worked B4 U left play with it some and it might,hopefully, loosen up with out a overhaul.
