What are you sweeping and on what surface? I'm assuming you are talking about a rotary brush sweeper? If there's any airborne dirt involved, I'd stay away from any type of sweeper whether front- or rear-mounted due to air cleaner clogging problems, and your breathing. If you must use a sweeper I would suggest a 36" or 48" walk-behind self-propelled type. I've seen them on e-bay for $300-500.

There is another type of sweeper that is made for the front of pickups and skid steers (I highly doubt their effectiveness though). They are basically are large push-broom. And they are pretty proud of them too $800-1200 and up.

Sump capacity is 9 liters. One drain plug, above and to the left of the PTO spline. Fill through the vent plug behind and to the left of the operator seat. Flushing technique depends upon whether or not you have a FEL

I have a Yanmar FX17D with 103 hours since restoration. A bearing failed in the transmission and broke the bearing seat. Does anyone know of a parted out FX17D? I need the transmission front housing. <br>

Ranchhand - I thought of that but I'm not sure which one it is. I've always just used the eng/dis lever so maybe I'll have to fiddle around a bit and see if I can find it. My neighbot did borrow it a month ago to plow some snow so maybe he changed it.

There are brackets to put the lift links in a fixed hole so the three point lift links are stationary.

My experience with fungicides on turf rust (Daconil in particular) has me skeptical about their effectiveness. A lot of money, questionable results. But if you only have a few trees it's probably worth a try. Good luck, and please keep us posted. I'm really curious to see if it works for you.

Willie, it doesn't make any difference in the ride as to if industrial tires are loaded or not! They just use a really stiff side wall as well as tread area to handle heavy loads. Even though we may be a little heavy in the base most tractors are not a load for industrial tires so they give little or no ride comfort.

If you have found this unit to be in as good a shape as you have described, it is a very good deal ~ that is with all the extras coming with it (loader, double tire sets, mower, etc)
These older units were not equipped with a four place hour meter as the newer ones are, so is it 900 or 1900 hours? One really can not be sure other than a concientious guess.

The power steering on these older units really should have been called power assist. They did/do not compare with what is known as power steering. In all honesty, so long as you have sufficient counterweight on the 3pt, even with a loaded bucket it will be reasonably easy to steer, so long as you are rolling. I have two B5200's ~ neither with power steering, but easy to steer with 3pt ballast. That being said, I actually have a tendancy to chew up the lawn more with the newer units WITH power steering than the older units without.

KT - I do occasionally win a case with my wife. Sometimes she just chooses to ignore my clear victory. She is a woman after all despite her engineering degree. She is very smart, but she is a woman. Like the time I told her to put the registration in her vehicle. Her response was "I've never done that before." Naturally, I was dumbfounded into silence. Seriously, the first words out a cop's mouth when he pulls you over is "License and registration." It's in real life and every single tv show.

I do win more than you think. Like the JD4310 in the shop. The 65" widescreen HDTV. The new stereo receiver, etc. I can usually find a way. But I didn't on the exhaust. I gave up because I wanted some else more. The old slight of hand trick. I give in on this, not because you won, but because I really wanted this more.

I'd agree that bigger doesn't ALWAYS mean quicker. But in my experience it sometimes does.

I rough mow usually with an old MF135 diesel (35 hp). It will run rings around my TC29 with a 5' brush hog. So would the 801 series Ford tractor that we used up until last year. Now if you're just cutting thin grass, or it isn't too high, the TC does fine. Let it get thick and about knee high, and you're low gear, middle range or high gear, low range.

Last year I mowed side by side with a TC40 and MF135. All of us had 5' brush hogs. I was the only one that had to gear down to go through the tough places. The other guys pulled right through. (The MF labored the least, by the way).

For tilling, I've only been using the TC two years. But several times I've had to go to low-low to keep from lugging the engine. I know that tilling speed is not limited solely by engine power, but sometimes it is. In my soil, where I garden, more power would help.

For me the smaller tractor is better for several reasons. It fits on my trailer, in my barn, and is small enough to finish mow with. But if I didn't have to trailer it, and didn't finish mow with it, I'd want something bigger.

You may also want to look into other items to help keep temps. down even though you're changing to hish vis. hyd. oil.

Basically anything that will help keep the engine cooler will also help keep the hyd. fluid temps. down as well. Things like adding "water wetter" to the rad., making sure the fan shroud is as close a fit as possible, keeping rad. as clean as possible, etc., will go a long way to helping overall.

I have a JD LX277AWS and I have cosidered a ZT, however the benifits over the AWS for the additional money is not worth it to me. The AWS works great and then I still have the tractor for any other little items around the house like seeding, fertilizing, etc. and then a bigger Kubota for other stuff.

The AWS goes around the trees and flower beds like nothing and I have had "0" problems with it since I bought it in 1999.

According to my dealer the uneven loader has a "kit" from New Holland. The leveling/height adjustment on the deck has a "kit" also. I noticed the same issues on my TZ24 and they are fixing them under warranty.

I agree with Greg, doesn't sound like you have enough tractor to pull a 2 bottom plow. I usually try to plow atleast 6" deep. My soil is clay that draws more power. In sand you may get lucky.

When your tractor is on level ground and during your first pass you need to adjust the plow frame level from right side to left side by using the adjustment screw on the right lift arms. You should first drive forward and get the plow to dig into the ground the amount you wish for it to penetrate (like 6"). After your first round trip you will need to readjust this with the screw again and count the revolutions.

When in the ground, the plow frame from front to back should also be level. The tip of the mouldboard should be slightly downward pointing to get suction. A good plow will have a depth gauge wheel on the left side to keep it to depth although it is not absolutely necessary.

Usually the plow will be attached to the 3 point hitch with some ajustable clamps (U-clamps). When your right wheels are in the furrow on the second pass, etc., the very right edge of the mouldboard should cut a path just to the left of the existing furrow. That leaves just a slight amount of soil tied allowing it to flip rather than push sideways. That makes it roll over and cover better. That is usually more important like when trying to cover corn stalks, etc. Some people set it up to just shear it off also.

Another really good way to do it is to go on your lawn and drive the tractor on a series of planks raising it 6" off the ground on the left side only front and back. Doing such that the tractor is stable. With the plow touching the ground, it is like when it is in operation but everything is visible. You can use a long board about 3/4" to 1" wide and set it on edge and lean it on the left side of the right tires for the length of the tractor and plow. The tires will contact the board on the boards right side and the right edge of the moldboard on the lefts side of the board. That is how it should track. This allows you to set it up in all planes. It is really not that hard to do.

Some plows also have a wheel that goes in the furrow directly behind the plow. That keeps it straight and helps to push against the vertical wall of the furrow for a nicer edge and also controls depth.

If your tractor won't pull it, you may be able to remove the second bottom along with its mounting arm making it a one bottom plow.

From what little I understand of Iranian politics, that lowdmouth peasant Ahmadenajad is not even running the country. He's the front man. The real power is with the mullahs and the spiritual leader. Those folks want the bomb for security but don't want the war - they want to sell oil and enjoy their comforts. persians like their comforts, they are lowsy warriors. I don't think we should take Ahmadenajad too seriously. he has a screw loose. Now, if israelis decided to take him out, I wouldn't hold it against them.

Had the same thing happen on my BX2200. I pulled the module out from under the left dash and tried drying it out. Long and short (no pun intended) was that it's electronic not straight relays. Had to go to the dealer for new module. Don't remember what it cost. Before I put the new one in I coated it and the boot that covers it with rubber cement to seal everything up. Haven't had a problem since then but then I am more careful about not getting that area wet.
