I have a 40 gal bladder tank and have NEVEr runed out of water.
Lawn Sprinkler systems??? Here in Vermont, God waters the grass when needed and last year it was always on my DAYS OFF.
I have been giving considerable thought about a LARGE holding tank up further the mountain. It would be great during some of these 5 day Power outages to have water. I have heat and I have cooking, but water is what I am short of and I refuse to buy a Generator. Kerosene lamps and a Coal furnace and gas stove is all one needs and the kids are force to do some readng during those days. Don't hurt no one a bit. But a 1000 gal water tank that would gravity fed to the house is what I am considering right now.
I put a Gray water system in last year and what a relief on the septic.
I have only 3/4 to 1 gp, recovery in my well, but as I said I have 8 inch pipe and over a 200 ft static line, I have always had plenty.
I have lived at my place for 21 years and have NEVER replaced the pump in the well. Are you living near a Utility pole and a transformer and guy wire? are you poer lines grounded to your water lines? Your Pitless Adapter on the well is made of Brass and the pipe is steel and like a boat in water that needs a Zinc metal bloack to prevent the electro whatever, you may be getting the same process that is burning out your pump. The people before me did and they ran seperate Ground wires to 10 ft ground rods at the other end of the house versus the water lines. There was something else done as well, but my frugile mind don't remeber exactly what. Haven't replaced a pump since and that is well over 21 years. I think it may have been the Phone lines that were grounded to the water pipes and they were moved.

Care to explain the logic behind that statement.

Sway is caused primarily by a lack of tongue weight, raising the tongue by even one foot would cause (on an standard 18' trailer) about the same weight reduction on the tongue as a seagull having a good dump on the back of it would cause.

Prince Mfg. makes a high pressure PTO pump for this purpose. Don't get the low pressure/high volume pump though which look similar to it and sells for much less.

Well I don't feel so bad now, that the experinced guys make mistakes too, I ran over shop door looking behind me so I wouldn't run over anything backing into shop. FEL will make mess of door facing. Wife still telling that story.

Sounds like Murphy's Law at work here, you guys south of here are getting a kicking, it was in the low 60's and sunny up north here in Cannuckistan.

Got in 2.7 hours stick time and watched the ice break up on the lake in front of my cottage from the air for the first time ever!! Way cool to see.

Lots of deer and turkey too.

Size wise, the B series is not that much larger than the BX, the perception is skewed by the fact that the B is a lot HIGHER than the BX. Having said that, IMHO, a B would be an overkill for a 1.25 acre plot, no matter what the jobs.

I have developed a service problem, and can find no good source for the repair. Oil is leaking from the right front axle knuckle at the location of the felt washer. It is leaking significantly where I am losing a cup of 90 weight gear oil out of this location even after the tractor is stopped. As a result, I have put an oil catch pan under the leak. According to the parts manual, it appears like the front axle seals inside, and below the felt washer need to be replaced. The owners manual parts diagram is confusing to me, and I am not sure if I were to attempt the repair, an easy way to get in to the location of the oil seals, and dismount so I can also replace the felt washer also. I believe the Jinma parts to be (28) 184.31.108, (29) GB/t9877.1-1988, and (30) GB/t9877.1-1988. Is there any easy way to get in there and rip this down? What do I do?<br>

Not only will you have maintenance issues as Harvey Mentioned, but it's hard to replace broken knives with numb hands from the vibration of running a sickle bar mower. ;-}

Do yourself and your tractor a favour too, mow it more than just 2 or 3 times a year.

The longer it goes between cuts the longer and thicker the grass gets, this makes for a lot harder going each time.

Based on where you are (PA) I would say you should be cutting it every time it gets to 14" high and cut it back to about 6" -8" high each time. That probably means cutting it first in mid-May, and then every 3-4 weeks till mid August then maybe twice more a month apart. Possibly 4 or 5 times a year.

The 460 was rated at about 49 pto hp so the numbers above I would agree with. Under heavy load I would also agree with this tractor being a "gas toilet".

While pulling out fence posts with the FEL on my 1030, suddenly the FEL stopped responding, I lost power steering and a whine began near the front of the engine. Also the three point lift is not functioning. Both the steering pump and the hydraulic pump appear to be attached to a gear drive on the lower left hand side of the front of the engine. Is this something that sounds like a quick fix?

I wasn't trying to be a smartass, but if you are runningoverloaded, even a Service contract will NOT cover you when you have problems. You have a Business Link Account. Dodge will still keep the warranty if you hae the Sno-plow prep group and add a plow for work. They will not nor will anyone else warranty the vehicle if it is over loaded.
We had an instance here where a fellow bought a 3500 Dualie, put a refer box on the back and then filled it with frozen meat and started delivering, he went thru some bearings and other suspension breakage and Dodge went after him for misleading information for Warranty Service. Last Iknew he paod for all of his repairs and that insluded his first one. Once it was established he was overloaded with the truck, he became totally liable for any problems and Dodge was reimbursed for anything that they did under warranty related to suspension or drivetrain damage.
I job rate everyone leaving the dealership and I have them sign a piece of paper stating they understand the limitations. It keeps me out of the liable lawsuits.
I knew a guy who put a 10,000 pound piece of Marble in the back of a 2500 and drove 40 miles with it, to deliver. No Problems and that was 3 years ago. I told him when I found out that he was way above the payload capacity and that he was putting the truck in dire conditions. He laughed and promised he wouldn't do it again. If he has, he hasn't come to us for repairs.

It appears the fan is attached to the drive shaft from the engine. Is it possible to drop that drive shaft and get at it??
