I just bought an early 80's 20B industrial. Lots of overhaul work done by a local tractor shop. Came with a front bucket. I also purchased a rear mower, and 6' blade. It did not come with a ROPS, but the dealer just happened to have one out back. I put it on myself. <br>
Here's my first question - Can the pto be engaged while the engine is running? The only way I can engage it is while the engine is off then starting tractor with it engaged. I used it today and mowed for about 5 hours, love it so far.<br>

Replacement of the fan in one piece is not easy. You have to remove the seat, ROPS, fender, wheels, and finally pull the hydrostatic transmission out the back of the tractor in order to remove the driveshaft from the transmission to permit sliding on a new fan. Definately a lot of work to replace a fan that costs less than $8 and is likely to break again.

What ply tires are you running? example-- some 10ply tires use 100psi. When running car tires with a full load I pump the tires up to 40 or 45 psi. If I dont return them to 30psi the trailor will bounce empty.

I am looking to buy a lawn tractor to mow 2 acres (flat). It turns out that a long time friend of the family is looking to sell their tractor.They are retired and have a lawn service do it for them. The problem is either of us know how much it is worth. I know it could be a matter of opinion.<br>

The PTO horsepower will drive a five footer. But I'm pretty sure a five footer will be too heavy for the light front end. Unless you have a FEL, a four footer might be best in the long run.

wingwiper: my statements about welding etc. precluded not using any type of gooseneck hitch on the subject truck with the 3" lift. My bad. And I agree with you about me being overloaded. I'm out of the factory warranty, but the extended warranty is in effect (I purchased the snow plow package which covers me better from a warranty standpoint). And I bought it using a "business connection" club of sorts (I forget the name of it) through Dodge so they are aware that I don't use it lightly.

Anyone have or ever use a 3 pt. 6' Taylor Backhoe attachment? There's one on ebay for $3749 and about $700 delivery to Ca. This is cheaper than I can buy a Nardi brand locally at about $6300. The dealer wants $8200 but it does have a subframe.<br>

There are insurance policys that give replacement value not depreciated value. That would mean a used unit might be used to replace.

It calls for the arm rests in the price book and all those I've got set up have them. The person assembling the tractors might have had to many crates open and put that seat on the wrong tractor. With a lot of tree's you would be looking back a lot so a wider mower would help but the mid mower would make it a lot easier to trim if you have a lot of trees. I normally recommend the smallest tractor and the largest deck for ease of trimming.

check the linkage going into the transmission as the only easy repair would be a roll pin on the shaft going in.

I'm interested in small grain drills. I found one made by a company called Sukup. The smallest, 5 or 6 ft, could be handled by a small tractor, or even less. I am curious to hear from anyone who has experience with one, or maybe another brand that is small like this.
