Just to clarify: If an OEM says in their Owner's Manual "use only Kubota Engine Oil part number XXXXXX" they also have to state something like "or Shell Bla bla, or Mobil Bla bla" or "an equivalent 10W-30 engine oil". Otherwise the implication is that the Kubota oil is special when in reality it is not--just a repackaged oil from another maker.

As far as parts go, somehwere in the "fine legal print" in your warranty paperwork you will most likely find that if you use other than the OEM's parts you could void the warranty. In some case yu doin't have a choice to use OEM parts in obvious cases.

Case in point about repackaged parts (which is perfectly legal) I bought a fuel filter for my diesel Ram from the dealer. I then went to a local Cummins dealer and bought the same filter in the identical package---same plastic bag, instructions, filter and the box---only there was no Chrysler decal over the Cummins part number on the box. The Cummins part was 1/3 the cost.

Ten years from now that $20K may only get you half a tractor. It's still may be worth the $40 per year.

Charlie, you can see by replies you're looking at a 30hp category. I have a 30hp B7800 on a property smaller than yours and I wouldn't want to go less than that.

Your tractor is 44 inches wide and 20 hp, so I would suggest a 48". I have a JD 4115 and that 48" is perfect, I do not get booged down and I can bury it. If I went bigger I may have bogged my tractor down and thus slowed the job. My opinion is a 48" Get one you can off center a few inches if your rear wheel exteend further than 48"

Ditto on Hardwood's comments. Most aftermarket that I've seen have been Category2 to match up with other larger farm tractor equipment.

Pin size on lower links for category 1 is 7/8" diameter and 1 1/8" for category 2. Top link pin sizes are 3/4" diameter for category 1 and 1"diameter for category 2.

Yooper: Are you using OEM filters? If not, visit filter mfg. web sites and you will be amazed at the differences between builders and applications. In particular, look at external and internal relief or bypass valves which the filters you may be using do not have (whether by design or not).

My 3520 has the wires already installed for the horn. Look nearf the frint top of the radiator and it should have two wires they will go back to the instrument cluster. Just remove it and drill a small hole and the orn will have a push button. Dealer sells the kit that includes the horn and button.

Be sure to remove, inspect, and clean the hydraulic screen. It may be contaminated with debry and oil/water sludge as well as the filter. If water or some contamination has been introduced into the hydraulic system; repeated changing (flushing out) of the hyd. oil and filters and pickup screen may be required to remove all of the contamination due to the large amount of oil remaining in the FEL hyd. cylinders and residual in the system itself. Oil and filters are VERY cheap in comparison to rebuilding or replacing a pump or valve body in the 3PH.

I've had a bad experience with Paypal as well. I sent a couple of payments to some organization using Paypal and never got a confirmation from the organization that the payments were received. When I send the payments by check I always get the confirmations. I was suspicious if Paypal didn't just keep my money. I should have double checked with the organization that I sent the money to, but got distracted with other things and the amount was rather trivial so I let it go, but now I try to send the checks instead of using Paypal. Maybe there's nothing to it, but I thought I'd let people know since we're all ganging up on Paypal here.

My price was $20,300 for the same tractor with loaded rear tires. Sounds like you should be able to do a bit better. So far, I am very happy with my Kioti. It has done everything I have asked it to.

New Holland dealers have an "aftermarket" line I believe is called "FleetGard". If it were me, I would spring for the OEM filters which are designed and (I hope) tested for this particular application. All filters are not equal. Plus your dealer is more apt to stand behind you in case of a filter-related problem especially if you bought it from them, which includes oils too. Don't want to drive? Ask them if they get a FedEx or UPS discount that they can pass on to you and see if they can ship it to you. You might be surprised that after it's all said and done---wear-and-tear, your time, gas---that is makes sense to have it shipped to your door.

drbandson: Yep and we can't imagine getting $5 a yard either. Keep in mind these are contracts that have as many as 5 levels of subs subbing the work out. I have loade dumpsters and dump trucks for as little as $2 a yard. We came down here for what we were told was $40 a yard. Dreaming. Many guys have gone home broke, or worse are owed so much money that we will never see (like myself about $3000) that we can't even afford to go home. There is a lot work to do and you'll see guys who spent (or borrowed) their life savings that are selling their equipment on the side of the road.

My dump trailer was made by JDJ. 12,000 GVW rated. It's 6'x10' with 24" sides. I have ramps for it that I made out of a new mobile home trailer tongue I-beam. They're reinforced with 1/2" bar stock to create a truss. Super strong yet relatively light weight. The I-beam shape creates a natural tire guide.

My buddy used it down here in Miss. picking up debris to move his machine from site to site---and pulled 2000 miles with the machine in it. He has steel tracks on his skid steer. Metal against metal the skid steer wouldn't climb the ramps with the dump box in the full-down position. But I raised the front about 18" and it walked right up with little slippage (raising it changed the approach and break-over angle just enough).

There was a post about three-axle trailers. From what the Michigan and Alabama DOT (and Motor Carrier Enforcement) has told me, by law (if even appears that you make ANY money with it) and you have a 3-axle trailer you have to have a CDL. This applies to "landscapers and even weekend warriors race car guys who make even a dollar in winnings---it's then considered 'commercial'" (this was part of conversation I had last Thanksgiving with a nice Alabama DOT officer who issued me tickets for a broken taillite, no medical card, no DOT numbers, no log book, no truck inspection, and no trailer inspection----all with me driving my 2500 Dodge Ram pulling my two-axle equipment trailer with my NH TC33D, an auger for the bobcat, and a walkbehind concrete saw. He was going to detain me for at least 8 hours on the side of the road until I told him I was cleaning up the hurricane---then he said he would let me proceed under the "FEMA Exemption" law---but I had 14 days to comply/fix everything). I'm getting to the point where I hate driving anymore!
