KT I think you on on to something, I was listening to a podcast by the Java Posse and they had a guy there from a company called "TopCoder". The idea was that TopCoder would meet with customers to determine needs then TopCoder would run a "Coding Contest" to see who could come up with bes component solution. They only paid the winner of course.

OK so I will run a contest to see who can split the wood the best and award them a TP T Shirt, seems an ample reward ;-)

Somewhere I read in this forum or another Kubota forum, that the 650,750,850 and 950 were all interchangeable.

It's a scam. If the deal is too good to believe, it's a scam. (I had to repeat it.)

Things that make it obvious:

1. It's a private listing, bidders must be approved.
2. Don't use my ebay email, use this one instead.
3. There's a 'buy it now' price in the add, but the ebay 'buy it now' wasn't used.
4. You have to pay via wire transfer or something that can't be reversed.
5. It's a 3 day or 1 day listing, as they know it will be pulled by ebay in 12-48 hours.
6. All pictures are of tractors that have already sold on ebay.

Those emails everyone has gotten from 'ebay' asking for your personal information - well that's how they 'hijaak' the account. They're using someone else's account for the fraudulent listing. Hence the positive feedback.

Ebay has a major issue on their hands, as there are always numerous scam listings any time you look for tractors. (Who knows what it's like for other auctions.) To attempt to thwart would make it more work for a legit auction, so that would hurt ebay's sales. Until the scams cut into their profits, there's not much motivation for ebay to fix it - after all - if you fall for it - you lose.

Super Steer was all the rage about 4 years ago here on TP. We rarely hear anyone talk about it anymore.

I have never used one but if mowing is one of your chores, I doubt it would be of any use, I often try to make the turns wider to avoid ripping up the turf, so SS would just make things worse. There are probably situations where it is handy, I just have not had any instance where it would have helped me in what I do.

"Hobby Farms Magazine" looks like something you might find interesting. Though I haven't read it myself so can't give a recommendation one way or another. Discount subscription for it is pretty cheap, so might be worth your while to try it for a year.

Using tire down-pressure alone is not the answer. The tire is static in that it has NO "pounding" or "shaking" ability to force the soil particles together and force out air and liquid water. Picture this: if you drove a heavy tractor (tire) over a nail sticking up in a piece of wood--providing it didn't puncture the tire--, you would hardly see that nail be driven into the wood. Now take a 1-lb. hammer and tap the nail and you can drive it in easily. Compaction works the same way--it's not the weight but the weight and frequency of the blows. Most drum and all plate compactors use vibration "blows" like a hammer to compact. Plate compactors use some of the force it develops to drive it forward (some backward).

That is a little touchy Murf!!! We as a dealer like to give everyone the most for their money and to put a contractors equipment thru his home address is a great way to extend the warranties! Kubota does offer some awesome TLB units for the M-series and I could see a few complications! I guess they found out!

Give the engine time to break in and some things might go away. The electric pto clutch is the greatest tool for implementing safety items but it does nearly double the horsepower requirements for running a deck.

I spoke to the mechanic at the Kubota dealer and he suggested not to put the slime in the tire. He thought it was bad for the rubber to keep that slime in there indefinitely. He also said he's never seen a front tire from a tractor the size of B7800 get a hole from a thorn. I listened to the guy and decided not to add the slime. I then attacked my 4' high brush and weeds with abandon and report no problems. Most of the weeds never saw the tires or the mower anyway as I razed them with the loader.

If mower was in hand we would just weld it up and send you home after a quick coat of paint while your taking a break with a cup of coffee, sorry no donuts. Kubota or what ever manufacturer might get contacted but only if rep was in the store or if the unit was still under warrantee to be paid. We see it from time to time in house and some times coming from the field like with yours. I wouldn't want the job so I'm glad for the most part the factories do well but I've also seen some bigger blunders.

Horsepower, tractor weight all hold you back from buying professional quality tools to do the job you are asking about. They don't build them in the size range you need. A York style rake works well for many for lawn installations and light grading for trash removal and a three point hitch roller with knife like tabs welded to it would do well to areate and be portable and I'd recommend tow behind wheel rake type machine for the thatch if you wouldn't want to have one mounted to the front of the tractor and the mower with a vacuum which works well. These tools will get it done about as cheap as it can be.

That is my point exactly, if you DON'T VOTE don't complain. We have Town Meetings here and it is amazing how few show up to fight the system.

I assume you are refering to where the drive tube connects to the trans, i will check for any cracks. Thanks for your input on this problem. I love my 2400, it is a great machine.

For what you have to do I'd be starting ith the L-39 and write it off aggainst the buisness. I prefer the Kubota attachments over the Woods just for mounting and the warrantee even though performance is relatively close. You do need a 10,000lb trailer for it and only a 3/4 ton pickup.

Pricing I got on a CK30 HST with KL 130 loader & KB2365 backhoe with 16" bucket was 22845 less 675 if I don't use financing from Kioti. Is this a good price? What other tractors should I compare with the CK30?

Some times its worth a try to check with the state surplus office. I know here in MI the state auctions off all sorts of equipment like forestry type stuff -chippers. As with auctions sometimes you can find a 'dirty' diamond or a 'rock'. Check out the 'auto trader'type magazines for farm ,heavy/construction equipment there's usual some chippers forsale there.

My first tractor was a used 7274 serial#20946 with 417 FEL if I remember 730 hrs. For the 3 1/2 yrs I had it, it was a Good tractor, moved an immense amount of fill and top (result- pit 8'deep 20'wide by 40 long for fill) blew snow, brush hogd. When I bought from dealer(non cub) said he cover most minor problems first thirty days Had electrical trouble from gitgo. Battery cable had corroded internal back from battery connector.well that happen two weeks after purchase-dealer kept telling me is was the interlock-'wiggle the sticks', problem which even when everything was working order was a pain at times. Another problem encountered is near end of front axle housing where the axle trns dwnward (cant think of proper name) there are 6 bolts attach mine had the lower twoheads snapped off by previous owner (i didn't see when buying- no leaks or signs of) when it busted the remaining 4 bolt heads that was a $2k repair bill (pinion, ring etc etc.)from an authorized Cub dealer 40 miles away and my landscape project sat idle for 2 /1/2 months( Didn't have the facility and big tools and confidence/courage to do myself). The last problem developed and last straw(per wife and 'her' check book) was the starter, wouldn't start, check circuits had starter checked all okay working order got it to start and parked it, thats when wife took me shopping for brand New tractor and traded "ole yeller" for Blue w/warranty. As to the extra support for FEL I called Cub direct to get info and cost as dealer couldn't get it end summer of 2003 I was told no longer available for 7274, glad someone has a lead for supportbrackets and alternate source. I didn't find TP forum until I had just bought new tractor.
