I run a bunch of tractors, mostly now, by force not choice, hydrostat's.

The big difference is convenience, but not JUST convenience. If you are doing high power demand operations, ie, 'working' the tractor, you will have to bear that in mind when choosing also.

On things like line hauling, heavy mowing, or plowing, you will have significant losses to contend with on a hydro., in fact you may have to go to the next size (or two) larger tractor to get enough 'leftover' power for PTO or drawbar work. There are also heat considerations, a hydro will keep you plenty warm when it's working.

In some operations, where for instance, you have to have a wide variety in your speed, a hydro may mean you have to stop to switch between ranges, a gear or GST-type TX does not necessarily have to do that.

Of course if you stick to pushing over stumps that are less than 12 feet tall this risk is greatly diminished.

Taking the bracket off is a good idea. I was afraid to put too much pressure on it in trying to break the filter loose. I didn't want to break anything, so I just left it alone for now.

MB Tractor that is where I got our '05 BX 23 . I feel sure the new facility has a pricy mortgage but I had the 50 hour service done there and have had nothing but great service there. I will admit it is nice to enter a big show room that is well lit and the Equipment is well laid out.

Murf,

Had not thought about your second paragraph. Regardlss sad and needless.

Talked with a dozer operator about a month ago that went over a pile (we are basically flat land) of dirt and when the dozer's blade hit solid ground and just stopped his head was cut badly on the metal dash. Seat belt would have save that.

But, it will not happen to me so off I go.

I had the same problem. On the side of the transmission, there is a metal line that goes to the three point hitch.
You will see three bolts holdint the line to the transmission. Take out the three bolts and inside is a mesh metal screen. Mine was completely blocked. Wash the screen with diesel fuel or other type of cleaner. It worked great after that. One thing to note is when you repove the pipe you will drain all the fluid out of the transmission and three point hitch. I drained abour three gallons into a five gallon bucket

Take a look at the Kubota B3030 with a cab.

30HP, mid PTO, 4WD and the cab is fantastic when blowing snow.

Isn't it great spending other peoples money!

I have a 3520 with Cab and the seat does not fit me as well as my old 4310 did and it also seems to ride a little stiffer.The back is too straight up and I know I could shim the bottom to tilt the seat back.....but JD does offer a air ride seat kit that just goes under the seat that ships with the tractor. The air ride list for 512.00 so I would like to know if anyone has used one of these before I spend that much money.<br>

Thanks to all for the replies. NH said that they followed all the wires and looked for shorts, found nothing. Checked out the fuse box and just about everything they could related to the wiring.

I do have to give thanks to New Holland in New Baltimore, Va. Though they didn't find anything wrong with the last visit, they are always quick to respond, and understand the frustration of the owner of the tractor rather than just shrugging their shoulders and acting like it's not their problem.

The plan now is that if it occurs again, I am going to leave it, they are going to pick it up, take to the shop and do a more thorough investigation than what a service person can do. My warranty ends in early summer, and there was talk of extending the warranty if the problem cannot be fixed/located by the time it ends.
