You might look at Degleman or leon silage blades for a design to be used to build a frame and gaurd to be mounted on the top back of the bucket. There is nothing that I know of that matches what you are looking for that is currently available.

Maintence helps but so does hours one after the other with out need to constantly restart a diesel to get to an hour on the tach! The longest life engines run more hours in a day then low houred units. Heat is needed for a diesel to have long life and that is through continuous running. That is why I often am recommending smaller tractors so that they might run longer to achieve proper operating temperatures for longer periods of time. Diesels when run cool don't burn all the fuel and some goes into the base and often glazes the cylinder and will give oil consumption and a loss of power. Many of the internal parts look like new with disassembly and the hatch looks perfect on the cylinder, but yet you can't feel it at all! This allow's compression to be lower and oil consumption to be high! Enough.

I have a BX1500 also and I filled my tires with water and Prestone antifreeze. If I remember correctly I measured 80 or 90 lbs per wheel (rear only).
It was simple to do: Just remove the wheel, lay it on its side and rig up a bead breaker press (eg. long timber under a truck bumper). The bead is easy to break on these low pressure tires. Then all you've got to do is pour your mixture in. Inflate while still on its side to reseat the bead. I did this a year ago, and it is noticeably more stable.

I have a 9 and a 24 for my BH and I have used both extensively...
I use the 9, not for trenching but for digging stumps and boulders, gets a better grip and is able to tear thru the roots better than the wider bucket. I use my 24 for burying them BIG muthas and for trenching and digging big holes or removing banks etc. Most of the time with the 9, I don't even bother to clean it (while working it) I just keep grabbing them roots and pulling etc and then I also use it to get up underneath the main stump. Works great...

I looked hard at the kubota and deere. I opted for the Gator HPX Diesel and it has performed without flaw. I live in cold weather country (Ohio) and use it for just about everything (we live on 50 acres with 40 acres of hilly hardwoods). I have no trouble starting it, although I have read that others have. I keep it in a barn and maybe that helps. I also looked at the Kawasaki and the Polaris. The Polaris was fast, but I liked the diesel in the Gator and 25 mph is enough around here. I have about 100 hrs on it without any trouble and I have given it a pretty good beating. I am sure you will enjoy either machine, but I have had such good luck with Deere that I can't find a reason to change.

Paint on the tiller tines? Reminds me of the story Murf told a few weeks back where a guy disconnected the hour meter and ran the heck out of equipment on a golf course, then repainted it and tried selling it as near new.

I think the new 3000 series have a dip stick for checking the oil level,it's located behind the seat just to the left. Also the sight glass has been removed.

That sounds like a good deal. When I was looking in December I got a quote of a little more than 16K for an '05 CK30HST w/FEL. The CK25HST w/fel was around 15,700. That was end of year pricing. Dealer said the new '06 models would be going up in price.

Ncrunch32- sounds like the power company/inspectors etc. are more problematic where you live than in my area. Around here (central Kentucky), it is common to make temporary arrangements to get the power back on before final inspection on a service change or similar install such as a transfer switch.

Most of the time, the power company guys here can cut a service loose at say 8am and return about 3pm or so to make it hot again. I have often asked them to leave the old meter base hot while I built a new service right beside it. A couple of jumpers from "old" to "new" and the lights are on.

You can use your gen-set as a source of "temporary" power if wife absolutely has to have lights every minute. I wish you luck in your search for a solution that limits your liability with both wife and power company.

Two words: Tiny Tach.

You are right in your assumption that you are OK as long as the engine is not lugging. More RPM's are safer than fewer. You cannot over-rev the engine.

A Tiny Tach will give you an exact number.
