I like the diverter setup except it has a couple of important nuances. When switching between top n tilt rear and 4in 1 front... it will switch most but not all valves... so parts of front and back exercise when using the joystick. I had the dealer replace all the seals initially and this greatly reduced in frequency but has never been eliminated.

Second... you cannot switch when you have a load (e.g. the front bucket). If you do you will have to run the bucket up onto something to eliminate the load (and backpressure on the valves) before it switches.

I'm a bit surprised that this is as buggy as it is. I was also pretty unhappy with the original installation of the topntilt valves by a JD Dealer on my 4610... since the center hydraulic would crash into the valves and eventually severed a hydraulic line... and they dangled a front hydraulic line in air near the right rear axle.

Well I found the cure for the brake noise. It was the combination of the anti chatter additive I found at the dealer and breaking them in. Once I put in the hydraulic fluid additive the noise mostly went away accept for on really hard braking. So I got on it and ran a few stretches, hit the brakes and after about the 3rd run the noise is completely gone. Of coarse I won't need to brake that hard while operating but atleast I know that is all it was.

Jason, sorry, I must have been writing between the lines. LOL.

Nobody would try to sell a tractor with bald front tires, it's dead giveaway. I'd bet it's got two original rear tires, and two brand spankin' new fronts.

If that's the case be VERY sure they are the proper size for that machine. A wrong sized front tire can get really spendy in the long run.

Call me a cynic, but, here I go anyways.....

From the very limited amount of detail you can give in 3 or 4 sentences, and IMHO (as an engineer), it won't work.

For lot's of reasons.

First of all, the shear volume of wood itself in the structure. Bear in mind the first thing any structure has to do is hold ITSELF up, before you can even think about loading it further.

Assuming with where you're located, that it will be built using Southern Yellow Pine, and we know that dry SYP has a weight of 45 pounds per cubic foot of wood.

You said the beams will be 4" X 6" X 32' (in total), and there are 2 of them, as well as the decking of 2" X 6" X 4'wide. The beams will weigh about 475 pounds, and the deck another 960 pounds. We're up to about 1435 pounds, and we haven't even thought about the sides, railings, the steel, or the fasteners.

I would guess-timate that the whole structure would weigh in the area of 2,000 - 2,500 pounds.

My 98 F150 is still going strong with 215K miles. I've NEVER had it in the shop other than for maintanance (Oil, filters, brakes, tires). Oh yes, I did put a new serpentine belt on last week but only as a precaution. Other than those items, everything is original including the exhaust.

It was used at a nusery, mainly loading mulch. There is black top at this nursery. They traded it for another tractor. The dealer wants $10000 plus my ford 2000 gas. I think this is a little much. I guess my ford 2000 gas 2wd is worth about 3000? I think the L3010 would go for around $10000 with out a trade. What do you gentlemen think?

I corresponded with a number of landscape ZTR owners when I was looking at ZTR mowers last year. Almost all of them recommended the diesel engine (especially the Kubota diesel) both for performance and durability. I would have gone that route but did not have the extra cash at the time.

Art's correct. Depending upon the vintage and the type of drive , whether gear drive vs. HST, the decks maybe considerably different.

With the gear drive for instance, when the clutch is depressed, because the "normal" drive would be coming from the transmission, as now seen as a norm, the deck speed would dump, and one would need to slowly engage the clutch again to bring the tranny back into play, and ultimately the deck drive as well. This is why they had a front mount pto drive from the front of the engine. The drive would stay active / live regardless of tranny conditions, so long as the cable of the front pto clutch was engaged.

The HST units, then and now, used the drive off the tranny, as the tranny output shaft (for mid PTO) would stay live when the pto was engaged, thereby keeping the deck spindles spinning. With this set up, no bulky front pto was needed.

Caution should be taken, as the decks from the old to the new have changed, including the lifting mechanisms. The older decks used a pantograph lift complete with chains, where as the newer used a much less complex setup, but with TOTALLY different brackets and linkage. At the very least, from front pto use to mid, one would have to change the position of the gear box of the deck by 180' - no biggy, just time consumed.

One can modify one deck to fit onto a different intended tractor - mostly thru rework and refab work of brackets. If you are handy that way, it should not be a difficult task. I have done this several times over, including on my 1980 B7100 gear unit. As of late, ten years now, my B5200 gear units, and last fall my B7500.

As you have found out, the older decks differ from the newer decks. To add another twist, there was also a rear pto drive available for a belly mount deck back then, I believe made for/by Woods as well. Haven't seen too many of those units...maybe for obvious reasons.

Thanks for the heads up on the limiter. I trust by your statement about 540pto, that you are running off the tractor hydraulics (?), rather than an independent hydr. pump on the pto. What I have noticed, and am sure as many will disagree as agree with me, that you can have the pto pump deliver very little flow or quite extreme flow. Pump size and tractor size have key roles in it at the least. Every tractor has their own personality besides.

I have had a pto pump (self contained I believe the correct jargon is) since day one. I certainly had to learn / realize where to have the engine speed set for maximum performance, but usually it behaves the best just high of the idle, around 1400 revs, with this orange. Never had a problem of excessive umph with it - it just works great.

I will check into the limiter. When I acquired my hoe, these devices were not around yet - or at least not pushed for performance/stability purposes.

Like you said, state to state are all different. I will check with my agent, but like KT said, I am willing to bet my agent has never been asked to insure a "real" tractor.

It's a Waterfurnace model ATO52 three-zone system, desuperheater for hot water and two stage auxiliary heat (which sucks up a lot of power on the coldest of days). I've had independent kwh loggers on the three circuits feeding the heat pump for years, and it consistently uses 120% more electricity than the pre-sale estimates that were prepared by Waterfurnace. Every time I think about this system it pisses me off. I may end up talking to a lawyer about it. One piece of advice - if ground source units aren't common in your area then DON'T GET ONE. As it is now for us the installing dealer dropped Waterfurnace and the nearest dealer is 600 miles away.

You should get an 8 amp breaker to but in its place. as far as the lights go your best bet would be to run a whole new circuit with a relay and in line fuse. But depending on the amperage required by the light you might be able to get away with tapping in to your existing circuit.

Not sure where you live in NC, I live about 20 miles west of Myrtle Beach in SC. I have purchased grapes from Stark Brothers and they did fair. Part of their problem was me. In our temp zone muscadine are the best ones. Based upon my own experience try to find grapes you like and ask for cuttings. Here you need to do any pruning in Feb. to cut down on their "bleeding."

Is it actually it a Deere oddity, or a Yanmar thing? I had a YM240, kissin' cousin to the JD850. It had pretty big rear turfs 13.6x24 maybe - that would not likely fit under a stock truck suspension. <br>

I add power service directly to the tank before pouring the fuel in. This is done because I use a water-filtering fuel funnel to filter the water out. If additive were added before the filtering funnel it would disperse the water and defeat the purpose of the funnel.
