As a point I am now looking for the silicon seals rather than the old butyl or styrene-butadiene seals on the motor oil filters. In hot oil they loose their elasticity pretty quick (see guide).
In the hydraulic system most are Buna-n or Nitrile. I have had to use regular butyl once or twice in none critical areas as I had an odd size and could not locate the buna-n or nitrile. You would be suprise how quickly they need to be replaced.

Wow.. didn't know that. I'll be reading the label next time I go down to the barn. I just figured that diesel's main problem was gelling at low temps and gasoline turned to varnish with age... never figured the two fuels had the same problems.

Part of the problem lies in the fact that there are five NEC standards for 50 states. Check http://www.squared.com/us/products/motor_control.nsf/unid/BEABDD3D2C1FB03C85256EBE0047F560/$file/mappage.htm and you'll see what I mean. When ASKING an electrical question, it would be smart to include your state. When RESPONDING to an electrical question, it would be smart to check the map to see which version code applies.

The 750 is a good machine. Don't think you can change to a 2 stage clutch, at least not economically. Parts are still readily available from Deere. When you looked at the machine and started it; was it cold or was is already warmed up? If the later was the case; it would give me cause for suspicion.

KW is right, you must satisfy your local inspector. Just a few years ago my county was using the "CABO ONE and TWO FAMILY DWELLING CODE" for compliance, but just last year they have adopded a new one, "INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL CODE". Both of these publications super-cede the national code books. I will be recieving my 2005 NEC in a few days, email me if intrested and I'll scan and send you what your looking for.

I had good luck with the Goodyears on my dually and replaced them at 70K-80K with the same, although off branded, but they are a road tire. I looked at going a little wider but with the duals it is hard and I did not want to loose my load rating.

They will do it no matter where you post you e-mail address on the internet. I would advise that if you are going to post your address you get an address from a free site like Yahoo use it for the sale and then abandon it after word.

My backblade is an old piece of
equipment. Got is at a farm sale for $125
a few years ago. It is heavy cast framing
with a circular hub that cannot be adjusted.
It can be rotated (difficult) but the locking
plate is welded to allow 1 or 2 avaliable
holes to line up.
If I push the blade the side angled which the
snow rolls off will bite in, no mater how I
adjust the tractor links. Raising the lift
does not help as it still bites in when the
snow loads the blade.
Pulling it with the top link loose allows
the blade to ride smooth without any major
bite in.
When the snow gets over a foot I imagine I will
have a problem.
The welded on feet pods were an attempt to stop
the bite in, but raised the blade off the
ground too much.
Maybe it is time for a new back blade.

You say you bled the fuel lines. Did you open the bleed screws to bleed it? If it has been bled & has no obstructions in the intake or exhaust , it should start easily at 50 degrees.If it has always been a hard starter, it may be low in compression & need new rings.

The barn will be used for storage and a new business, I will be building custom choppers starting this spring. Still need to get the electric and get the floor sealed. Concrete went in the first week in Nov so I could not get it sealed before i started to fill it. I currently have my boat, e350 15 passenger van, ford focus and escape. If money would have allowed I would have went bigger, I chose to add steel to finish the ceiling and walls. I gave up 6' in width to keep it on budget. The walls and ceiling are insulated, r40 blown in the ceiling and r19 bats in the walls. The temperature difference is usually 15 degress warmer inside.

Brokenarrow, This may be too late, I've tried all the spray and such, but you never seem to get them all, and also contaminate the soil. What I've found to be the best(not for every application) is to set-up you shop vac out there with the hose just a few inches form the hole and let run it run all day. You will suck them up...comming and going!HTH.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys. I looked at this earlier and can not find a objective review on the web.
To put it simply I don't think the main difference is between the base stocks. A linear ethylene chain (100% synthetic) has slightly better high temperature stability, if the chain ends are effectively capped. A severely hydrotreated mineral base stock (fully synthetic) may have slightly better flow characteristics. At this point the differences are so slight who cares.
Now for the kick in the head, as a chemist there is no such thing as a 100% synthetic oil or a fully synthetic oil. All the oils have surfactants to suspend the dirt, carbon and sludge that get into the oil. Some of the linear ethylene chain oils use 5-15% mineral oil to mix in the surfactants. All the oils have antioxidants and chemicals to reduce the build up of acids. Additionally they normally have chemical components added or reacted to the oils to increase the film strengths.
The main differences in the synthetic oils are these additives. Just as the abilities of regular mineral oils are constantly being improved through additives the abilities of the synthetic are also being improved. For example: in previous post we brought to light the fact that Mobil 1 had improved their package a few months ago.
What might be the best this year, may be second best next year, although the oil company may not tell you they are changing their formulation of their oils. These minor components are not listed on the MSDS or spec sheets.

Just bought a new BX 2230 with 60" MMM, 211 FEL, B2750 Blower and the Curtis cab with heater and lights. I have the tractor but the cab is not in yet. I ordered a 6 position switch/breaker from curtis. I plan to have only the main feed (12V) and the heater plumbing leaving the cab. All other wiring will stay on the cab so I can remove it in the spring. I am having 1/2" hydraulic connectors put on the coolant lines for a quick disconnect of the heater. I hope the cab is here soon its getting cold and snowy!!

I would strongly recommend that you stick with the OEM Deere filters. They don't cost much more than aftermarket filters and are a much better filter in my opinion. My understanding is that Fleetguard makes most of the filters for John Deere. Fleetguard is about as good as it gets. For the small extra price if any, you get a very good filter that you will not be questioned about using if something goes wrong. DO NOT use a Fram filter. Using a Fram filter will void your engine warranty with a Cummins engine.
