Well, In todays world all the manu- are up against the fence with engine hp. With the new Tier 2 standards for 2003 and Tier 3 for 2007 their trying to Balance HP and Emissions.

Most Manu- are meeting PTO hp by the skin of their teeth and when you throw Hydro into the mix your asking for trouble.

Some Hydro trans of the same make can vary as much as 5% from one trans to the next so, when your talking about a 30 hp tractor they have to be careful about advertised hp.

This is also the reason you can see differences in return to neutral between two tractors of the same make.

By having three gear ranges you basically have three different gear ratios to make better use of your engine torque curve.

I did not ground it when I used it in Missouri but when I brought it here to Ky I decided to try to ground it and everytime I grounded it to the panel it poped the breaker. Remember that I did not have to reverse the motor direction at that time. The voltage from the motor case to ground was about 30v. So, far a safety warning I put a 120v 40w bulb between the case and the ground wire. I knew the bulb would not light up untill there was sufficient amperage to overcome the resistance of the bulb and then I had better not touch the motor as that would indicate an internal short that could be dangerous. No one but my son and I were ever around the comp. The reason I did not pursue it when I moved here is because it is now grounded. It has an internal protection and a circuit breaker. What I do not understand is why I could ground it when I reversed the motor. That has been puzzleing me since I hooked it up this year. <br>
I have posted a question on eng-tips.com and also sent a question to A. O. Smith motor corp. I will post the replys here. <br>
Just so everyone understands, When the motor is wired to run in one direction the motor housing is hot and cannot be grounded. When it is wired to run in the opposite direction the housing is not hot and can be grounded. <br>
Now, from past experience with motors if a winding is shorted to the case then it shows up no matter what direction or voltage it is wired for. That is why I don't understand this motor and have been carefull with it.<br>
Currently it is wired for 220v and is grounded. If anyone is interested it is an A. O. Smith 2hp 1ph 115/230v motor model# C1224N4AAA. It is a large heavy motor. <br>
I may disconnect all the wires and check them to ground but, in it's current setup it is safe and I have no intention of replacing it. If it shorts out as wired it will kick the breaker and I will be forced to replace it or have it rewound.

I just got this brand new 2305..... got to use it once during a snow storm ..... and have been back to work ever since.. I walk by it in the morn 5am and past it in the eve... 6pm I cant wait for wens... my next day off...!

It sounds like your voltage regulator - I have a B2400
Kubota and mine was under the panel under the steering wheel. One nut held it on and it clamped to the wireing
harness. Very easy to change once you find it. Had the exact same thing happen to me. Checked everything else and
finally found and took it off and it was 'burned' out.
Replaced (about $70) and that was it.

I purchased a Loftness 72" snowblower. It's very rugged and blows snow really well. The problem is that it is so heavy that if the cutting edge comes in contact with the pavement, it just peels it up. I suppose I could adjust the top link to leave more clearance from the ground, but that leaves so much behind. I dreamed about cleaning the driveway in minutes instead of 1.5 hours with the walk behind, but screwing up the pavement isn't worth it. Anyone else have this problem with a 3pt blower?

UGLY, but there is a sewer pipe plug that expands a rubber collet to fit into the 3 or 4 inch drain pipe. There is a rubber "cup" that is spring tensioned. When water (or anything) pushes down on the rubber stopper it opens up the drain. When the wieght (or water) stops putting pressure on the cup, the spring returns it to its closed position.
Of course this would not be the ideal fix but depending on your situation it would work. I use this thing on my emergency drain in my basement. A cement lip was built around the basement floor drain and my sump pump. If the pump does not work and the sump over flows, the water will open the drain plug and go into the septic on its own with out damage to my room in the basement.

yep,, filter is fairly new, and I also blew it out just to make sure. gets pretty dusty here so I replace it quite ofter and blow it out several times between replacements. Agree it could still be bad fuel, but same tank I was running a couple weeks ago with no problem, (but that doesnt mean much either. If the fuel did collect water and got into my injectors could it plug them, to the point that I might have to remove and clean them. ????
(yep, think I should stick with horses and computers, but cant find anyone around here that even works on yanmar tractors, let alone the gray ones, didnt even know what they ment by gray tractors when I bought this one). But maybe with all your help, i will get by this two.

My Brother has a B7800 and he wants to have rear ports on his Tractor, He said when he went to buy the tractor they told him $300 now he asked and they said $700-$800 Has someone else rigged there's up or found a Cheaper place to get the kit???

Of the many bad parts to the Vega, one of the worst was the engine, so maybe the Cosworth engine might of solved some of the shortcomings.<br>

That Vega of mine was a mixed blessing, the brakes were poor and one night I was coming home late and I locked up at about 65 MPH descending a steep mountain road and the poor balance of car threw me into some high speed 360's and I wound up in some guys yard, miraculously without rolling the car (the blessing), and a further miracle that the car had somehow missed more than a half dozen trees, had I hit them I doubt I would be writing this.<br>

When I got my 1981 Honda Accord in 1981 I was going to junk it at 150000 miles, but my neighbor insisted on taking it, he was a handy guy and we discussed the risks. He gave it to his daughter, and the front wheel broke off on the same mountain road I had my spin out on, she was Ok (thank god). After that he junked the car.<br>

I really like the 404 Foton. Just trying to decide if a 40 hp would be too big for me, or if the 30 would be too small. 2K seems to get a lot more tractor in terms of frame etc. Nothing worse (IMHO) than getting a tractor too small for the job...

The weld filler metal nees to be matched to the weld process and the base material. The first 2 numbers are the weld metal tensile strength, the third number is the positions the filler metal is allowed for, and the fourth number is the flux and current indicator.

For AC welding, 1-4, or 6-8 is acceptable. For welding structural sections, 7018 is compatable with most low carbon steels, and is an all position rod.

As previously stated, welding a trailer is not a good project to learn on. Trailers take a lot of abuse, and are subject to dynamic (fatigue) load revesals. Welds that look ok may have deficiencies that could be a problem on the road.

If you look at my picture # 15 you will see you have the same setup as mine.

The picture doesn't show the clearance very well because of the angle though. There is probably about a foot of clearance under the subframe.

I am concerned that a few of us, if we got our bellys timed togher, could cause a small earth quake. Guess that could make us dangerous to the enviroment, huh?

The JD110 and the L39 are both industrial machines. Hence the big jump up in cost.

There are a number of aftermarket mechanical and hydraulic thumbs available for many of the popular CUT hoes. Since the dipper sticks are all different sizes, there is no universal kit. Although the foot-operated hydraulic thumb is nice, you may find a mechanical thumb works well enough.

The new Woods BHX series hoes with the curved booms do have a thumb option, as mentioned. If you find a dealer and get pricing for the BH80X, post them here. Also loader thumbs (grapples) are way different than backhoe thumbs.
