I went from a 2wd old Oliver to a MFWD equiped JD 4310 utility. There is a huge difference with the MFWD. Clearing snow, loader work is vastly improved due to having drive traction with the front wheels. It's definitely something to consider in your purchase.

I just put up a shelter to house my tractor and had the same problem. When the sun would come out it would be like the tropics in there.
Where I really goofed was I waited till way too late to put up my shelter. We already had the first snow so that the ground was wet even after I cleared it. That moisture would evaporate in the nice warm greenhouse I had created and then it would either freeze on the roof or it would rain inside. I finally got rid of it by waiting for a nice dry day and warming up the shelter with a combination of solar warmth and a propane fired forced hot air heater. When it was good and warm I opened the door all the way and let the moisture evaporate outside. Then I covered the floors with some cheap tarps to keep more moisture from coming up. So far, so good.

We live in an underground home with concrete floors. Ok, I can understand that it can be unsafe to not break the neutral on incoming or outgoing electric power. I have an air compressor that when wired for 220v. at two other locations had about 30 volts on the air comp. it self. I could not run a ground from the comp. to the panel without poping the breaker. When I moved to my present location and wired it up I expected to find voltage on the comp. To my supprise I did not and then I grounded the comp. and it did not pop the breaker. The motor is a 220v single phase made in 1956. The only thing that I did different was to switch the wiring to reverse the motor because at my present location it ran backwards. I never have understood why switching the wires around allowed me to ground the comp. Should this be a new thread?

We generally don't ahve a problem with this, are you on really uneven ground? Or is the FEL too low in the first place?

The simple solution would be to keep the FEL up a little further.

Skid shooes would work also, but don't use them and then set the FEL to 'float' or you will lose a LOT of front wheel traction.

I've never owned a car or truck I regretted buying or owning.

I have, however, been stuck with some pretty pathetic excuses for cars as rentals, usually becuase my reservation got screwed up, or they over-booked.

Two stand out in particular.

One was the aforementioned K-car. After driving it for 2 days I came to the conclusion that passing gear was NOT in the TX, it was in the stereo, it only made more noise, not more speed.

The other was a Chevette, 4 cyl. auto. with A/C, thought I was going to die getting onto the Interstate. A/C off, foot to the floor, and I ran out of merge lane (on a downhill on-ramp), looked down and I was only doing 52 mph!!! Took it back to Dollar and told the clerk to either give me another car, or get in it and we'd go for a little cruise on the Interstate. I left in a Cadillac in about 2 minutes.

6013 is a good rod that don't splatter, strikes easy and welds smoothly. It gives a nice finish unlike 6011 and 6011 is hard to strike on a used rod. 7018 is a very good rod, makes a smooth weld and strikes easy. In my experience the weld seldom fails. The metal at the edge of the weld fails. The extra 10,000 lb of tensil strength in the 7018 rod would be of little use on a trailer. However, the smoothness of the weld using 6013 or 7018 would be a benifit.

As our youngest was married this past Saturday I will skip your thought. Also there is a long order time on those.

Not only is the water leak an issue and can be for many months but that is only the tip. The cost is much more than almost any equipment. However, if taken care of and treated properly nothing has such a high pay back ratio. Not in money, but swollen heart and pride. However, compared to most equipment when it is gone so are all cost, not so with children. Just because the place of garage changes, you do not loose all responability for them. Come to think of it, that is not all bad.

I think you will not be able to use the float position until you have a hard pack of ice on a gravel drive. Just set it up a little, if your drive is bumpy you will have to fiddle with how much you raise it as you go.

excuse my ignorance but if possible could any one tell me the difference between the yanmar 1700, 1700d,,1700b& is there such a thing as 1700db. i baught a yanmar the dealer identified as a 1700d but looking at different partial pics from several web sites it looks more like a d,b or what one web site referred to as a db. any help here would be very greatly appreciated. i thought i was clear but once again am confused. i may be able to get a pic if that would help

I bought a 404 (40hp 4wd) tractor king from Rural King in march of 2005..price with a koker fel,6' tiller,6' brush hog,phd with a 9& 12" augers was about $14,000.I signed up for Rural King`s credit card and recieved 10% off the purchase price...which amounted to a free 6' tiller.Also 1 year intrest free..so I will pay it off before the year is up..intrest is aprox 22%..The tractor is made by Futon,The engine might be a cummings 3 cyl clone.I believe Futon also makes the bigger 4x4 tractors for John Deer..something like 125 HP..But don`t hold me to that fact.I have over 45 hrs on my tractor so far...NO problems to date.Fit is pretty good..Finish is very thin..enough wax might keep the paint on for a while...lol..Main thing is that you have to install a in line or block heater on it,as it is very tempermental cold starting...But with a heater it pops right off...hope this help you some...Sid

Sorry for the confusion. The old spec sheet on the web had the engine as a Perkins on the top. I did not look at the whole manual. Definately makes it even more attractive with the Perkins. I love the Perkins in my MF 65. From what I gather it is Perkins from DK-65 to the DK-90.

I have a 2002 JD 4210 4WD, with 170 hrs, backhoe model 47 w/ 16" bucket, FEL, fiberglass top, Armour Shield engine cowling cover with protective shields for FEL hyd lines.<br>
Outside of a little bit of rust spots, the machine is in excellent condition.<br>
Any insight is great appreciated.<br>
