1989 Old Cutlas Calais International - 160 hp Quad 4 in it with manual transmission. Not a bad car, but right rear shock was always breaking and leaking oil. Couldn't keep spark plugs in it. Needed new plugs at most 5,000 miles or at least re-gapped. Was better with platinum plugs, but still needed new ones at 7,500-10k miles. Very sucky handling on snow/ice despite front wheel drive. Finally, GM brakes were not good on this car. Bought used, paid too much, had a baby barf smell in it when it would sit in a hot sun.

Justus - In this section several weeks back was a discussion on materials to use on the bottom of your plow as a wear surface. Some people use sheets of poly insetad of the steel cutting edge. Some use old grain conveyor material or rubber belt material bought at a farm supply store. Try to find the message board or look into those options for extensions.

I had to build my own, i hav a mf 20 hp compact tractor
with a 6 ft snowblower attached to the loader forks I had to make a reversing gearbox for the power take off and run a shaft under

In general no if you are running the other implement then the insertion of the clutch only removes part of the load. The engine RPM should not change.
I can not address the 7274 specifically as I have no experience with it.

1*My 1960 Chevy Impala convertible had 1961 Chevy impala full wheel covers on it when I bought the car in 1962.
Three guys that I knew back then bought new 1960 Impala convertibles.
Gary Schaffer got a bright red one with a white top-His dad owned a standard oil service station. His dad Wayne later became one of our county commissioners and was one for many years there after. He recently passed away.

Darrell Marshall who graduated high school the year before I did bought a beautiful blue one with a white top. A few years later he purchased the local Olsdsmobile dealer ship operating it until a few years ago.

Alvie Thomas ( who bought the black one That I ended up buying off a used car lot in 1962 ) worked at the Mom and Pop gas station we called the stadium service station as it was right across the street from the foot ball stadium.

I loved these 3 convertibles and would have given anything to own one of them.
Little did I know The black one would be mine 2 short years later. Picked it up at the used car lot for $1900. What a steel.

It was tricky getting those 3 Carbs synchronized so I always took it to Lee Batten a stock car builder and driver to get the Carbs adjusted and synchronized.

2*My uncle had 3 or 4 51 fords. One of them he bought new. The thing that set the 51 of from the 49 and 50 was the double bullet grill compared to the single bullet 49 and 50.

3*1950 Chevy 6 Cyl 4 door sedan, my first car, paid 250 bucks for it in 58 . Kept it till 1964 or 1965 .

After looking at the 3520 options I guess I'll stick with my 4400 and buy the Curtis cab for it.

JD does not offer the 3520 with a cab and std shift. They can only come with e/hydro, that's too bad.

The black smoke indicates a rich mixture. I would be interested to know how well the injectors them selves not the pump are functioning. Are the popping off too early, or leaking, are they atomizing the fuel properly. Plus they are a whole lot easier to remove and install than the pump is. I would suggest you remove them and take them to a repair shop and get them pop tested. Most will test them for little to no charge.

For the yard grading and driveway maintenance, the box blade is the way to go. For snow removal, there are many options and many opinions you will find on this board. There is at least one person who uses a box blade for snow. He does it by going backwards and using the blade on the backside of the box blade.

I have both a box blade and a 6ft regular blade that I use for snow. I got my regular blade used for not a lot of money. Used ones, if basic, can be found for $150 or less. If you are doing driveway maintenance and yard grading, I'd go with teh box blade. I think you will be much happier with that for those jobs. If you do a search and look back to this summer, you will find posts on using a box blade for driveways and yards. I think Murf did some good instructions in several posts.

There is nothing like that feeling of "Oh yeah! Bring it on!" after trying out a new piece of equipment that makes the job so much easier. Congrats! That's how I felt after getting my 4310.

These forums provide a great exchange of knowledge, (and of course opinion). Did you get the brake problem ironed out? We haven't had much problem with 25hp brake but occaisionally a 30hp will stick some...similar design.

One thing I failed to mention is the 2550 and 2555 are available in mfwd. This is definitely desireable if you plan to do a lot of loader work, although any of these can handle a loader well with two wheel drive if ballasted properly. The loaders that fit these tractors are 145, 146, 175, 240, 245, and a 48 will fit also if the right mounting frames are used. If you do get a MFWD model, the 175, 240 and 245 are the only ones to have enough clearance for the larger front wheels. Dual hydraulics means two sets of outlets on the rear for attachments. Depending on what kind of attachments you might get, that can be very desirable. A second outlet can be added, but that is a pricey add-on for these now, since they aren't current models, a kit is no longer furnished through Deere. Used parts may be available or a simpler valve can be bought and plumbed in. I see lots of these mounted on the fender. It doesn't look as neat, but is much easier on the wallet. If you get an aftermarket valve, be sure to get a closed center valve since these Ag tractors all have closed center systems.

I have looked at this several times. I am having trouble picturing the fittings.

Are they the fittings that physicaly go itto the cylinder? Or on the hoses that connect the fittings.

If it is fittings going into the cylinders are they weld in? Is it a pipie fitting that is loose? Someone forgot to pipe dope it?

Or is it a seal where the cylinder rod slides in and out?

I have seen older tractor buckets on after market loaders where clearances were not good have broken nipples at the cylinders.
