Not sure this will help, but horsepower is a measure of "Power", whick tecnically is the time it takes to get a unit of "work" done. "Work" is defined as force x distance, or can be translated to torque ( Force x Moment arm or ft-lbs ), or joules, etc.. When you look at the conversions in Northern tool, there are conversions between the different types of motors because the relationship between torque and time is not the same for all of them, or said a different way, they achieve maximum torque at different places on the performace curve. As Murf mentioned, they operate at different RPMs, therefore their rated torque is at different RPMs, or the time depenmdant rate at which they get work done is different. The relationship between torque and horsepower is not the same for each type of engine, or motor (they are all technically engines). They are all capable of producing the same power, but don't operate at the same efficiency doing it.

1 horsepower equals 550 foot-pounds/second. A 5 horse engine can do the same work as a 30 horse engine, but not in the same amount of time. The conversion rates in Nortehrn are a guide within a range of motors, but not a direct conversion for all engines.

They are not like brakes on a car. They have multiple disc's between multiple plates. and to get to them you have to remove the trumpet (rear axle housing) Not some thing I would suggest the do it your selfer to attempt.

The problem with the switches is they are a ball in socket type switch. They alway have just a bit of hyd. fluid behind the ball and that tends to create a vacuum holding the ball to the closed position. Especial when it is below 35 degrees. You can remove the switch and and clean the hyd. fluid out with some solvent and that will help for a while. Once you set it started and the hyd. fluid warms up the problem will go away. If you put it in neutral and wait a couple minutes you should be fine (3-5 minutes). This gives the spring behind the ball time to over come the vacuum.

Before you disconnect the Loader, with the machineOFF move the joystick several times in all directions. You will notice the Loader "seetling" as you move the stick. When you don't notice any more movement, disconnect the lines. Unless it is exposed to direct sun, or sits for long periods of time, you shouldn't have any trouble re-connecting.

That T4000 looks pretty neat... way over my budget at $35K, but if they made a half size version, might be real interesting.

I'm going to look at some smaller CUTs, I might just start with a smaller tractor (20 HP) and then get a second larger tractor as has been been suggested by others, once the business is established.

Yep, every 15k miles. I do it because I know this transmission is weak and because there is a flaw in the way the case is sealed. On top of the transmission there are three rubber plugs that can dry up and leak. Here in Oregon it rains all the time and I worry that water will get into it through those plugs so transmission fluid is cheap insurance. Some guys pull the transmission and pound in freeze plug discs to replace the rubber plugs but I just change the fluid frequently.

Sorry I can�t help you with the reverse gearing of the tiller. However, after checking out your pic�s you might be able to provide me with some valuable insight.

I�ve got a B3030 and need to purchase an implement to help prepare my deer food plots (2, 2, and 5 acres). I�m currently leaning toward the purchase of a 5 ft rotary tiller (KK II or CCM). The food plot soil is a little on the sandy side and has been worked for decades. Although I don�t have experience with a big tiller, I�m a little disappointed with the selection of disc/harrows I�ve seen for my tractor. My uncles 6 ft box disc/harrow (similar to what you have) appears a little big for my tractor. I think I�ll need a 5 footer with the smaller 14 inch disc�s (lower the overall profile) and the only harrows I�ve seen that fit this discription appear to be the lighter angle iron variety.

I�d appreciate your take on the best implement for the job at hand.

I did a bit of research at the local Deere dealer and found that the rockshaft control valve is most likely the problem. They have replaced several of them at $470.40 plus labor. Get access from above, under the seat. Another reason to not like Mondays.

I've got a 45hp KAMA that's parked in an unheated and open-ended shed. 250 watts of Wolverine is plenty, which is why I thought you might be able to get by with the 125w size. Most of the diesel pumps I use have a pre-mixed winter blend of 30-50% #1. So using that has resulted in no issues to date in either my pickup or my tractors. I've started to add the Powerservice as extra insurance.

ncrunch32. I didn't follow up well enough on this before I made my first comment so I was unaware of his using solar panels for a power source. I don't know much about the progress on lower cost more effecient solar panels, but surely someone is going to have a breakthru someday.
