Ah Warrenton. Some good tractor dealers up there.

I'm Just a bit south - Pamplin -about half way between Farmville and Appomattox. Nice folks, but boy! do they ever like guns.<G>

For the benefit of anyone still following this thread:
The Offer now includes a transporter trailer, all for the original $2000. I really think this might be the way to learn a little about tractors with out losing a bunch of money. At the same time, my lust has blossomed. I do indeed want a bigger machine, but I can see that it'll take me a few months to find what I want at a price I can pay.

I left the electric business before 1985 for other than my own barn and my brother's. The biggest thing I was trying to say is the way I think he wired it was standard for many years and it will work. I still find it hard to believe if it is safe to wire it that way from the meter base to the main breaker box and it is not safe to a sub panel. At same time it is only three wires run by the power company from transformer to meter base, two powers and a single ground/neutral. So why is there no need for a seperate 4th wire when it comes to the power in or out of meter base? <br>

It used to be unless you had either more than 6 or 8 breakers (not sure now which number is was) you were not required to have a main disconnect either, again, per code here. That was even on a main breaker box. Is the extra ground wire safer, probably. So are ground fault outlets and I do recommend them anywhere near where water may be. Now would that not be for any outlet he may use an extension code to run something outside with? <br>
Before someone comes along and say you sure had lax code there let me say 14 guage wire and 15 amp circuits have not been legal here since at least 1970 and all services had to be in conduit, not as they were with expoused (do not remember the type of wire they used as we did not use it here) in some large cities in other states.<br>

Now if he wants to talk with his local code people and ask them if what he did is per code that is his call. I would not suggest he bring them out to his building as they may have all kind of issues.<br>

A point that concerns me more that the 4th wire would be the depth he buried his conduit.

When it comes to operating pto driven implements; I strongly recommend following the implement and tractor manufacturer's instructions and recommendations of operating the implement at full pto rpm. The exception being for PHD's, generators, hay balers, and other implements that require a lower pto rpm to function properly. Most mowers will not cut properly if operated below the 540 or 1,000 rpm called for. They will cut but not as well as at full pto rpm. For other non-pto tasks, I agree and use only the rpm needed to complete the task which is normally between 1,800 to 2,100 rpm.

Is there very much fluid leakage when the switch is removed? I wonder if its just stuck and could be cleaned? Probably right, just get a new switch.

I have a Kioti LK3054 w/loader, mower and backhoe I would not buy another one because of the dealers. The folks on this site say dealer-dealer - dealer tis very true.

I just found a L2500, 4WD, in good shape, with 171hrs on it, for 6000.00. Seems like a good price although it is just the same size as the tractor I currently have, only 4WD. Can I get a FEL for this tractor? It doesn't have power steering. I never had a problem with the size of my 25hp AC5020, only parts are getting hard to find. Is the price good? Thanks in advance, MP

Last week I fixed a finish mower I hadn't used in 10 years. I've been using a "bush hog" in it's place. When I mowed with the finish mower, I was amazed at the job it did. It yard and pasture looked so much better than it did when I mowed it with the rotory mower. I don't think I could mow the whole pastre with it, but what I did looked great. I'll never be without a finish mower again. I think you should buy that first and get a rotory mower later. My .02.

Cap will be low as the load center is moved out from the bucket mount. I got a set of forks with a JD quick mount from horst weld for about 5oo$ for my 4310

I'm a Michigander and use a hydraulic front blade for clearing a 600' driveway, and several roads. The blower has it's advantages, as previously mentioned, but is slower than the blade. The blower also puts less strain on the tractor. You don't want to be clearing Michigan snows with the FEL. it's a PITA.

Last quote I had on the blower for our tractor was $3200. A little steep when the blade does a great job.

WAG- check where the coolent overflow drain is at from the overflow bottle/cap. Even though the tractor isn't getting hot, some spillage may be occuring from rough terrain onto some wires or connection. I extended mine with a small hose to avoid dripping on wires/connections near the overflow.

It is a cat 1. Cat 0 is used on essentually up scaled garden tractors. Cat 2 is approximately 50 HP +. Most larger tractors will have cat 1 and 2.

Thank you very much. I think you have my needs for my grandson covered. We visted Wal Mart with him last night (2 1/2) and he told my wife and me he wanted to see John Deere. It is bad when a 2 1/2 year old knows where tractors and such are in Wal Mart. He "read" the box all the way home for the back hoe he decided that was enough.

I've been using a thicker Chevron grease (red), but I can't remember the specs on it at the moment. I like to grease the joints after doing any significant loader work since it helps displace dirt/water. That means I give them 2-3 pumps probably every 5-8 hours of loader use instead of the recommended 10 hours.

Do you guys have a grease that you would recommend over others?

Sounds to me like the dealer needs to come pick up the tractor and take it back to their shop and figure out what the problem is. After over 100 hours, this should not be happening. You never did say why the engine was rebuilt so soon. Was the engine over heated in the past or did it have some other type of damage to it?

I started with a BX2200 and traded it back to dealer after 100 hours for a B7800 since I do more other work than mowing. B series will pull boxblade alot better than BX due to traction between B and BX. I also bought a BX1500 to supplement the mowing work. B series are heavier, buckets bigger and they are higher off the ground. The B's will save time over BX, if that's worth more than money to you.

Hello all

It never fails. I drove an hour to the "local" Kubota dealer on Saturday, with cash in hand, to purchase a BX1830 w/ FEL and MMM. When I got there, they had posted a closed sign on their door - too much turkey, I suppose? So I got a chance to poke around on the other tractors they have and darn it, I started to change my mind!

Then to top it off, when I got to talk with the sales rep yesterday, I found out that the �redesigned� 1830 will be somewhere around the current price of the BX1500.

So now I have to decide if I want to get a B7510 ($15,300 out the door is what I was quoted), a BX 2230 at $12,700 (w/o tax and doc fee) (no 1830�s in stock) or wait for an undetermined period of time to get a �redesigned� BX1830 that will cost closer to 10k. All are equipped similarly, with FEL and MMM. All I plan to do, in the immediate future, is move �inches� of snow and cut grass on small to medium sized suburban lots, and I�m in the mid-atlantic area where we don�t usually get significant snowfall until January or February.

I asked about 50 hr. service; they said that wasn't included. I also asked about pickup and dropoff, they said only within the first 60 days. After that I'd have to pay approx $120 for the service.

What do you think of all that? As a newbie, I'm interested in your advice.
