If I had a tractor machanic in my area that could fix my machine, make it work, do a decent job at a semi-reasonable price. <br>
Yes I would go there to fix my tractor. If it had a problem I didn't feel I wanted to attempt to fix myself.

I use a 35 HP tractor ( similar in size to the L-series Kubota) on my 15 acres and find it sized just right for my needs/uses.
I use it to clear/maintain around 9 acres of field and mow around 6 acres of lawn. Perfect size for my 15 acres.

Keeping the return line covered with fluid is beneficial because there is less splashing within the tank and splashing will create some air bubbles.

Your tank sounds huge for a splitter application. You could get away with as little as 3 or 4 gallon tank capacity, maybe 8 gallons as an upper limit. More fluid will take longer to heat up, good if you do this full time, but keep in mind that some heat is a good thing to control moisture that invariably accumulates through condensation.

The volume of oil in the tank will change a little as the cylinder travels from fully retracted to fully extended. Assuming a 30� stroke cylinder with a 2� diameter shaft, the tank will go down by about 1.6 quarts as the cylinder goes from fully retracted to fully extended. This isn�t enough to materially affect your overall tank size.

You might try the internet. There are a couple places that offer plans to build one. try http://www.p.f.engineering 50megs.com. I have a set of their plans and they seem to be pretty good.

There are blowers out there that are new that throw it no further then that model. That model is of old design and built for heavy wet snow which is why you are pushing it some instead of the front auger aggressively bringing in the snow.

The hydraulic fluid level is at the full mark on the dipstick. I am at 470 hrs. so it is about due for a fluid and filter change. 500 hour intervals sounds like a long period but I guess since it is a geared shuttle shift transmission the fluid lasts longer than it would in a hydrostat. Although the manual doesn't say to do so I changed the fluid and filter and cleaned the screen at the first 50 hours. <br>

I just learned that JD was aware of this problem and had some sort of campaign to correct it. I must have missed it. Depending on what I find caused this I may change JD's 500hr trans service interval to 250 hrs.

I have a Mahindra 2015 hydro with loader. It amazes me how much work it can do. It is very well built by Mitsubishi and starts and runs very well. I don't think you would be disapointed with it as long as you have dealer support in your area..I didn't get the mid mount mower as they are a lot more money than the after market ones which are rear mounted.. Have I paid careful enough attention to say Shell has a synthetic diesel motor oil that some of you have used and recommend? <br>
As to Wal Mart pricing they vary. It is my understanding the Manager is allowed a good bit of freedom in pricing. They do charge higher where there is less competition. We have four super wal marts in my county and there can be a wide difference. <br>
On some brands calling their synthetic that and Amsoil saying they are fudging the line, Mobile holds the same line as Amsoil. I had used Castro gas synthetic for years and then learned it was not true synthetic, just highly refined natural oil. Seems our government allows the uses of synthetic to mean it is altered from it natural variance of size molecules. Castro would not deny this. <br>

Mike, just curioius if the pedal you're referring to is the Hydro pedal? If so, remember it doesn't behave like a throttle. Speeding up the Hydro-pedal (this is its transmission) is like shifting into a higher gear on a gear model. For example, if going uphill with a gear model, it would be harder to maintain as much power if shifting from 2nd gear to 4th gear.

I had a gas Dodge that also came with Michelins. They wore out very quickly. Talked with two Michelin dealers both said they were an OEM tire they could not get. Replaced them with Michelin and got very good service. Then replaced those with Uniroyal. Road stiffer but pulled much better in dirt. Steering responded better with the Uniroyal. Now, who owns Uniroyal? It is Michelin? It is some European company along with Goodrich. By the way one of those dealers is also Goodrich and he said they are the worse for picking up stuff into the tire. I have had that problem with Goodrichs on present pickup and had it with the Uniroyals also. I mean like broken wrenches and screwdrivers. He said he had no idea why but they were very bad for that.

Art has great advice. Be sure each is packaged the same. It pays to have all you can in writing. It just cuts down on confusion. Sales people make mistakes and they also leave. Even owners leave.

With code varying for area to area you both could be correct on what is allowed or required. As to the fourth wire for 220 it was not long ago that no circuit 110 or 220 had a fourth wire for single phase except in a mobile home in my world. If you will look in many breaker boxes you will find grounds and neutrals on same buss. As least in my part of the world. If the buss is mounted directly on the metal box as or has a jumper screw as some area's codes require you are in effect joining them still. The meter box I install two years ago only had three wires from the power company (220) so neutral and ground were joined by them. THeir neutral mounted to the meter box, with ground wire also mounted to the meter box. To me they are in same circuit.
